This hotel is typically Japanese - only a Japanese breakfast with mackerel available. The other food served was okay but not spectacular. The room was tiny and old...but clean. When we checked in, we were asked to choose a yukata to wear for meals and to go to the baths. That was fun. The only major drawback to the hotel...

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at in Japan. It's about a 10 minute walk from the station - but uphill, so if you have suitcases definitely just get a taxi there. The staff were excellent with a good knowledge of English. Our room had a wonderful view and two baths (outdoor and indoor). The outdoor bath...

We booked 2 Japanese-style rooms that was spacious and clean. However I did encounter a weird smell outside the room and in the balcony. I guess it comes from the surrounding area rather from the hotel. Our room package include breakfast and dinner and I strongly recommend it. Both meals were Japanese cuisine instead of the normal buffet. Food is...

Hotel is located very well. It's a 2 min walk to the cable car which takes you to the rope way, a 5 mins walk to Gora Station, and the bus stop is just at gora station. Hotel is western style, room are very comfortable and the food is okay, not the best we have tried during this trip. The...

We recently spent a night at this well run hotel, arriving by train. We walked up from the station, encountering the steep slope mentioned in other reviews. Would have been much easier to catch the cable car up one stop. The room that we had was large with a bath tub on the balcony. The bath that evening was beautiful....

It is probably a rather old building but has been carefully refurnished and well maintained. There is no sign of age. The twin room we occupied is very large, at least 40 sq metres in size. The decorations are a bit plain, no look of modern luxuries such as see-through bathroom, but it does contain all necessary facilities. Free Wifi...

The hotel is located near Gora Station but be prepared to walk up a rather steep slope to get there. Alternatively you can take the cable car and alight just 1 stop after Gora Station. We stayed at the standard twin room which is quite big with comfortable twin beds. Guests can choose the yukata provided by the hotel that...

Stayed at Merveille for 2 nights with my hubby and boy. Hotel was actually very easy to locate and reasonably convenient. We stopped at the station after Gora station and walked a short distance before reaching the hotel. Check in - was smooth although they didn't allow for early check in. Nonetheless we left our luggages in the hotel and...

A nice ryokanlike hotel. Dinner and breakfast are included. Dinner is a nice kaiseki ryori (traditional Japanese meals). There is a convenience store near hotel, but it's not 24 hour one (I think it was open until 9p.m. or sth). If you have a prior booking (I'm not sure about other cases) you can contact hotel when you arrive at...

This is the place to experience real Japanese onsen culture. The Japanese family room for 4 is spacious and great. We had our first experience at the public hot spring, and we literally went there for a dip 2-3 times per day! You can choose your favourite yukata at the lobby, so some of us tried a few different designs...
