Great hospitality and service as you'd expect from Japan. Traditional ryokan room with traditional clothes provided for meals. Private hot spring was the only letdown - very nice in spring but room very rundown and grimey

Stayed here overnight in a tatami room (are there any others?) Enjoyed the semi-outdoor onsen at night, and later soaked in the "public" bath which we had to ourselves. We ate both the dinner and the breakfast buffet. The dinner was really superb and even came with an English cheat-sheet to figure out what you were eating. The breakfast buffet was...

Stayd for one night. Room was great traditional but big japanese room. Exept for the really bad smell of smokes. It smelled like there had been smoked for decades and it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. Smell was so bad I felt sick during the night and it almost ruined the stay. Staff was helpfull and spoke good...

Stayed for 2 nights. After long reading on Tripadvisor we decided to book our stay at Kinokuniya Ryokan and we were very happy about our decision. Ryokan located on side street around 2-3 minutes walk from bus station. Onsen: They have 300 years of onsen experience and have many real onsen baths (both public and private) with two types of...

This is a great ryokan! Relatively easy to get to from Hakoneyumoto station and just a short walk from the ashinoyu bus stop. Went with my girlfriend for one night, wish we had done two though! Turned out to be way more luxurious than expected and great value for money. Definitely recommend getting dinner and breakfast included in your stay....

We chose the place because they have fresh hot spring water pumped by themselves. We used the family-private hot spring bath which was very nice. Did not try the big public baths as I don't want my two minor boys go by themselves. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent too. The location is far from the town/shops/restaurants, very quiet and...

My husband and I stayed here just one night, but it was fabulous. Staff was lovely, the room was spacious (included a Western-style sitting area along with the tatami floor for the futon), and the food was fabulous. The room included a little mochi treat for each of us, and really high-quality tea. Pro-tip: make sure to drink at least...

We had to try a ryokan that served a traditional multi-course ryokan meal. Can't say we actually enjoyed the meal -- breakfast was way more to our liking -- but we did enjoy the experience. If you go, try the outdoor bath. Same hot water as indoors, but so pleasant listening to the birds and gazing up at the trees...

Definitely a visit to share. The sulphur springs were a highlight of our trip. The dinner for two nights which. Was included was a feast of Japanese cuisine. The breakfast was also plentiful. I would recommend but it is an old ryoken so do not expect much at night. The scenery is great and the bus stop 50m away so...
