We stayed here for one night - with a flight out from Narita airport the next day. I wanted an authentic Japanese experience on my last night and so booked this in preference to a bland hotel. The place was a little more rustic than I had expected, and yes there is a strong smoke smell downstairs as the owner... More

We booked this online, and they were happy to take our booking just over email without requiring credit card details, which was nice. We then called when we arrived at the train station and 5 minutes later the owner arrived in his van to take us to the ryokan. We were contemplating walking but were glad we didn’t – it... More

This ryokan's charm is only out shone but its owner's spot on hospitality. The couple that runs the home are very welcoming and accommodating. He was even kind enough to give us a courtesy ride back to the train station before our departing flight. The home it's self is basic and quaint. The customary beds are quite comfortable, even for... We stayed only one night in this ryokan because we had a flight from Narita Airport in the next morning. The ryokan is not very accessible by public transport and a taxi is quite expensive. But the owner is very friendly and helpful, so he took us to Narita Station with his private car. From Narita Station it is only... More

As an experience of a traditional Japanese ryokan, this is a good place to try and great value for money. It is extremely convenient for Narita International Airport (9 minute train journey) and Narita town itself is well worth a visit. The owner and his son were very friendly and helpful and spoke enough English to make our stay straightforward.... More

For a two-day layover, we decided to try this ryokan rather than one of the rather nondescript alternatives in Narita town. We had never stayed in a ryokan before (or, for that matter, been to Japan), but we wanted an adventure and we got it. First, the positives: it's very close to Narita-san temple, the beautiful park behind the temple... More

Quaint, charming, hospitable, genuine perfect experience! A wonderful Ryokan nestled in suburban Narita, a 3 minute walk from the temple. The host is a perfect gent as is all the staff. Great accommodations, very nice breakfast and a charming mini-museum of ancient Japanese authentic Samurai pieces. The young man explained that his great great grandfather was a Samurai and the... We decided to book this place for 2 persons x 2 nights based on reviews on Tripadvisor. Positive Staying at an inn like this is a good way to understand how the locals stay when they travel. 90% of the occupants during our stay were locals – mostly people who worked in Narita. There were a few Japanese tourists who... More

Stayed for one night as I had an early flight the following morning and I didn't want to stay in some generic airport hotel. This is a charming ryokan in the lovely town of Narita. The Kirinoya is run by a very friendly family and the room was great - futon mattress on a bamboo matted floor. The facilities are... More

Booked a room for overnight connection flight, and the hotel is better than I expected. Clean room with good bamboo smell, delicious local food, hospitable hotel owner, and some good tour sights in the area. I took a walk in the morning, went to the Shinjo Temple for a short visit, and enjoyed the peace of the town. It's a... More
