Booked a family room at Hotel Paco Hakdoate for my family of 5 adults and 1 baby. The room was not too big but just spacious enough to fit us all. There were 2 singe beds with 1 single sofa bed set up, and also 3 futons which can fit up to 4 adults actually! Price was amazingly affordable! Separate toilet and bathroom, and given the space, there is actually still a bathtub available! We were assigned with a high floor and the bathroom had a great view too! There was also a small balcony actually, but we did not get to utilize it as the weather was too cold and was raining! It was a pity as we only stayed for a mere 2 nights. Will definitely stay here again when I come to Hakodate in the future!

I thought this was a resort-type hotel but turned out to be a lower class facility than I expected. Many families over the weekend which made the am buffet jammed. Interestingly a lot of people wore their hotel-supplied pajamas to breakfast. Staff however was great and friendly. Our room was a good size with a mini kitchen and separate sitting area with aged furniture.

Stayed in the Paco Annexe towards the end of Dec 2018, and enjoyed my stay there. Location wise, the hotel has various convenience stores just a short walking distance away. However, it requires at least a 15-20 minutes walk from the JR Hakodate Station. (Take note that there is often eavy snowfall, and the roads can get piled over with snow which may cause added time when walking.) The room is wonderfully equipped with a kitchenette and clean utensils, which definitely helps when you want to prepare soupy suppers or heat up food for breakfast etc. Definitely a plus given the affordable price of the rooms. Rooms are well cleaned as well, and service staff are very warm and hospitable. Would definitely recommend staying here although some furniture may look a little dated. The convenient amenities and serviced apartment styled-rooms will definitely bring me back!

Although it stayed at the end of December, the price was very reasonable, the inside of the hotel was clean, with very nice hot springs, so I was very satisfied. They accepted my request of the room in advance, and all the staff of hotel gave us a customer with a smile. However, I felt quite a distance from Hakodate Station due to unfortunate snowstorm on that day, it is about minimum fare if it is a taxi.

Having never visited Hakodate we were a little lost as to where to stay, and in the end settled on proximity to the station as opposed to being near Goryokaku park or the dock area. The room itself has a bit of a serviced hotel feel to it, but was very comfortable and has a separate lounge, bedroom, loads of storage, kitchen with large fridge and microwave. The bathroom had a washer which is tricky to understand as there are no English instructions and the settings are all in Japanese! There is no dryer, but they provide a clothes rack. There is also balcony with an outdoor setting which was blanketed in snow when we were there, as was Hakodate, nonetheless the outlook is back over the city and very pretty. We stayed at mostly business hotels on our visit to Japan but must admit that we enjoyed the comfort and space that the 4 star Paco provides. The hotel has a convenience store, restaurant, plus stunning Onsen that we enjoyed several times, the men’s Onsen is on the first floor (lobby) with ladies on B1. Upon arrival just put your slippers in one of the lockers, take the key to reception and they will give you an inside locker key to store your yakata or clothes. The Onsen is one of the better that we came across and they also have an outdoor spa, so you can sit outside, watch the snow falling and even watch (Japanese) TV! The pools were set to 40 degrees when we were there, they also offer massages Location is circa 10 minutes walk back from the JR station where there are plenty of bars and restaurants, plus a large drug store and Target style store along the way. Around the hotel itself there isn’t a lot, but the tram stop is not far and as mentioned neither is the station area. A cab back to the JR station cost us 710. We liked the Paco, and also Hakodate in general. Treat yourself while your in town with a Lucky Pierrot burger, they are known to be the best in Japan, you won’t regret it!
