Shame to this beautiful country! They are— Shame of Japan We have traveled many times in Japan and stayed in many different hotels before, however, this one is the worst! The reception is not polite, not helpful! We have many languages, but they refused to offer any help to us! The osen is old , but view is good! Food was bad, just for the tourists! Everything from the machine. Our room is too hot, but found that the air conditioning was not working, so I call the front desk to help, but the front desk Mr Sato replied me that the main air conditioner was off , outside was cold and asked us to sleep. They can not help! Until I said I will complain , then they started to work on the air conditioner, but they don’t want to solve your problems, even don’t say sorry about this ! We stayed 2 nights here , just wanted to leave ASAP! Mr Furokawa was the worst, he said he is the one in charge, but he didn’t want to solve the problems, even no apologize!

Probably the nicest hotel in Akan judging by size, location, and the onsen. We didn’t stay here but walked through and bought a day pass for the Onsen. I think it’s open 12-1900. Two stories of hot water. Men and women’s divided onsen on the 9th floor with all the hair products you could want. Indoor and indoor/outdoor with windows and a cold pool. You can go rooftop for a truly stunning view. They provide swimming trunks and tips for the rooftop and men and women can relax together.

This hotel was just like what the hotel's website shows. The lobby was big and nice looking . There was complimentary welcome snacks at the lobby serving sweets (marimo yokan ) and tee, coffee . The elevators over looking lobby area. Clean floors and carpets. Our room was a Lake view spacious, clean. Akan Lake was right in front of the hotel. This was the first time to see a frozen lake. It was something new. The very beautiful snow white all over at the time. The breakfast buffet was excellent, the variety of options, tasty, fresh. The hotel employees were very polite and kind , and many of them speak both Chinese and Japanese. There were many Chinese speaking guests staying at that time. I wasn't expecting any English speaking hotel staff because this was a Japanese hotspring hotel located in the deep country side. We enjoyed staying this hotel for 4 nights.

Stayed with family for five nights in the Crystal wing. The main positive was the open air thermal bath on level 9 with spectacular views. Otherwise, on our last night, which happened to be the New Year's Eve, we got awful food poisoning after dinner buffet in the hotel restaurant. The three of us were sick all night. We decided to leave the next morning although we were booked for another night. The staff in the hotel do not speak English. I would suggest that this hotel gets taken off western booking engines as it does not cater to English speaking guests.

Stayed one night at New Akan Hotel near Lake Akan. Very spacious lobby, spacious tatami room, nice roof top onsen with view of Lake Akan. Buffet dinner was excellent with wide variety, fast dispensing machines and authentic Japanese quality. A row of rustic handicraft shops is about 150m away for picking up souvenirs. Must stay here.
