If you don't want to splurge on an expensive resort, this hotel is perfect for your budget! It offers great lake views, a modest but well kept onsen - and a beautiful and quiet rotenburo (open air onsen) which is very relaxing. The massage lady is very nice, highly recommended to give her a visit. Staff were extremely friendly!
This place needs a good clean and a top to bottom renovation. While the lobby looks ok, the rooms are worn & tired and unfortunately not too clean either. The bathroom has numerous specks of mould which is just not acceptable at the room price charged. Pretty large room (for Japanese standards), but worn furniture and smell of smoke.
Authentic tatami style rooms with excellent views of the lake. On site parking, but wifi only works in the lobby. My biggest complaint was the tiny size of the bathrooms. This hotel is a good choice in terms of value (compared to other options). I can't comment on the food here, due to the fact that I found it pretty pricey. However, there is a FREE soft serve ice cream machine in the lobby, so that's a definite plus. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I'd definitely stay here again.
Stayed here for two nights as part of a 4 night Hokkaido trip in mid april. The location is perfect, on the lake, great trekking in the mountains, skiing in winter, trekking and canoes in summer. The hotel itself is a bit old, but everything is very clean, and the staff were exceptionally friendly/helpful. The outdoor rotenburo, rockpool onsen was really nice. The hotel has big jackets guests can borrow in winter, which was great for our group because we werent expecting snow. Overall good food, great service, great location at a very reasonable price. BTW. Also the Ainu village and Ainu shows every evening are def worth visiting, just ten minutes walk from the hotel.
We stayed here for one night. The location is great, right next to Lake Akan, but that was about the only good thing here. The staff does not speak any English, but very friendly as all Japanese people that we have encountered. The room sure could use a new coat of paint and the bathroom should be demolished and then rebuilt.
