It was my first Ryokan experience, I didn't know what to expect. Nonetheless, everything there was just fantastic. My first impression upon arriving: it was a very traditional place full of Japanese culture and history. At that time the hotel displayed this elaborate decoration for Japanese Girls' Day, consisted of figurines of royalties and their household and staff (I assume)...

Stayed here for one night to watch the fireworks in lake shikotsu. The deive towards this property is around 20mins under snow condition. It's a small property by the edge of the lake. On the way down to the property there is a steep drive so please cafeful...my car almost skidded. We stayed in room 315 which faces the lake...

Why recommended? - over hundred years of history and one of the "secret onsen" (秘湯)in Japan - equipped with natural open-air onsens which has the same water level as Lake Shikotsu's, and thus various to seasons - very spacious room - dinner served in room which we enjoyed as a private party - Friendly and enthusistic staff, from reception to...

Marukoma has a sublime onsen with numerous indoor and outdoor baths with great views of lake Shikotsu. The onsen is open to customers not staying at the hotel between 10h and 15h daily, for 1000 yen. In other respects (including the rooms and cuisine), this hotel has a tired and institutional feel.

Originally this traditional japanese hotel is looking forward to , it is one of the(秘湯)secret onsen members , but general feeling is that after stayed, the general attitude of the staff , general dinner , poor breakfast, rooms have smoke smell, uncomfortable!Only a little better is public baths , fully this is not worth the price. Also here a bit...

I booked the room from Japanican. Our room is a Japanese room with very nice lake view. There is a toilet in the room but no bathroom. The meal plan comes with the room is the Japanese dinner which served in the room and buffet breakfast. Upon check in, we can reserve the shuttle bus to go to the ice...

The location is Nice away from the tourist area. The hotel is clean but old and could use an upgrade. The onsen is big and has a beautifull view. Very Nice onsen. The food is oke but notting special. We had much beter food in Hokkaido. The Nice thing that we could use the private bad which was very Nice....

Maruloma Onsen Ryokan is located on the north of Lake Shikotsu, away from town and amenities. Our package includes kaiseki dinner and buffet breakfast. This is an old traditional ryokan. Rooms were clean and well kept. We were initially concerned that the rooms are not air-conditioned as it's summer and the weather can be hot. While we have views of...

Stayed for one night. Onsen was very good and spacious. Most impressive was the helpfulness of the front desk manager who help me with my next hotel booking as I couldn't speak japanese. Overall, okay room ( no AC but fan provided and smells of smoke - level 2 rooms), okay food, awesome onsen, outstanding front desk manager.

Sadly everything about this Onsen just didn't live up. The site we ordered through (Rakuten Travel) stated that there was a free shuttle bus too and from the Onsen, sadly this was not the case once we called up to book it and it was 500 yen each person each way. Once we got there and were shown to our...
