From arrival to departure everything was top notch! The staff practiced amazing hospitality, the guestroom was amazing and our balcony rotenburo was heaven on earth. The onsight onsen was excellent as well! Matsue Castle is within walking distance and visit the nearby Shinji Lake Shijimi Centre for all your clam fishing information needs!

We had a great Japanese/Western room (i.e. western beds in one half, tatami mats in other for in room dining). The room was very good, the dinners excellent, and the staff, led by Hiroshi Yamauchi, wonderful. Japan may be expensive, but we would agree with another reviewer that, for this level of service, it was a bargain. For those who... More

We really enjoyed our stay here mainly thanks to the staff and the food. Everyone was so welcoming and made our first stay in a ryokan a real joy. The food was amazing and, again, we were helped through the menu by the ever helpful staff. The onsen itself is very average but amazingly clean and relaxing. The hotel is... More

From the moment you arrive you know this ryokan is special. Dewdrop93, a previous reviewer described it as heavenly and I agree with everything she said, except that it was expensive. When you consider that a 20-course dinner and multiple course breakfast is included in the price - it's a bargain. After a day of exploring lovely Matsue, a soak... More

This one of the most wonderful places that I have ever stayed at anywhere! I stayed there with my mom and my husband and we all loved it. The staff, was so helpful and friendly, especially Hiroshi Yamauchi, who spoke English. He actually waited for us for each meal, escorted us, and explained all the food to us! We felt so... More

This was by far the better of the two traditional onsens that we stayed at. The service was second to none. We were allocated an English speaking employee who explained everything to us and made us feel very welcome. Champagne, fruit, tea and a traditional sweet was served to us in our room on arrival. Our luggage was sent on... More
