I came to Okayama as a base to visit Naoshima. The hotel has good sized rooms and good facilities. It even has coin-operated washing and drying machines. The staff does not speak English. The hotel is located in a wooded area in the town outskirts. If you come just for a vacation you will enjoy the area. If you come for a visit it is not a convenient location. When looking for a hotel in Okayama, I considered this one and the Ana Crown Plaza which is just outside the train station. For the same size of room, I would have paid about 90-100 $ more for 2 nights. Due to the International’s location I had to take some taxis, so at the end of the day I spent almost the same and suffered some inconvenience.
I suspected I was in trouble the minute the lift door opened on the fifth floor as the smell of smoke was over powering. My room was the same and no amount of spray could quell the smell. The carpet in my room was absolutely filthy and I was reluctant to go to the bathroom in my bare feet. I was part of a large group and no other room was available so as I was only staying one night I put up with it. Breakfast was no better either. All the food was cold so I had a healthy diet of fresh fruit. The only positive was the free shuttle bus into town.
This hotel is up on the hill and offers a great view of the city. Found the restaurant to be very over priced. The room was very old and outdated with big stains on the carpet. The best feature was a shuttle bus to get hell out of there to the main area.
We stayed here as part of a tour group. The location was out of town, but a free shuttle bus was provided . The bus took you to the train station area where there were shops and restaurants. Comfortable clean rooms with a good breakfast.
This is a very old hotel but well maintained but old rooms. Was quite surprised to find a hotel with room key and not a key card. Also its quite outside the city close to nothing. we wanted to have a drink at 9 pm and they said the bar is closed.
