My husband and I stayed here in October 2016. We were hiking Kumamoto and decided to stay the night before heading back to Tokyo. Staff was very friendly. The rooms were OK, clean but nothing fancy. The price was reasonable. Onsen area was one outdoor and one indoor bath. Rooms had a 1/2 bath ensuite but you had to shower... More

The main attraction of a onsen ryokan is the onsen. Here the indoor onsen is fully furnished and the water is hot. I stayed in a western room with twin bed. Its size is more than double of the standard business hotel room in downtown. The room has no attached bathroom, only a toilet, and one have to use the... More

The ryokan is 10-minute drive away from Matsumoto city centre, so I guess it is better to have a rental car if you decide to reside here. Parking space is indoor but quite narrow if you are the last few car to enter, good driver required! Staff are very helpful and speak decent English, someone ran us through the hotel... More

It's the sort of place that makes your heart sing. A rambling old building, a hilarious mish mash of furniture and bric a brac, a great bath and delightful staff. There is nothing stylish about this place but it oozes charm. The price for a room and two extravagant meals was very reasonable. On the night I went out was... More

My wife and I stayed one night at Tsuki on our honeymoon. The 250yr old building and rooms have the original wood beam build throughout. It's a very authentic, and very comfortable, ryokan. The staff speak enough English to make the stay easy. There free fast Internet in the lobby. Would recommend if you're in Matasumoto. The sushi restaurant opposite... More

English follows. Restored ryokan. We stayed in traditional suite that was nice Tatami, wooden beams, wooden rectangular bath) and in a two-level... More

This ryokan has both western and traditional rooms. We stayed in a very nice traditional Japanese room with tatami mats. Unlike many other ryokans the meals are taken in the restaurant rather than your room. The restaurant is however very authentic and the kaiseki style meal was superb and well worth the visit. Also unusually for a ryokan there is... More

This ryokan is located about 20min cab ride from JR Matsumoto station. I was surprised to see the inside of this ryokan. There are two parts of building that are connected. Newer part is traditional tatami mats with attached bathroom and very spacious. Older building is very special. They moved an old traditional Japanese house from Hida Takayama area. They... More
