This was an okay place. Just an average hotel with perfunctory staff. Service was really not a big deal with this hotel. It was adequate, but you were mostly on your own. Not a place I would talk about or want to return to.

We (my wife, myself, our 18-month old) spent two weeks in Japan, including three nights in Matsumoto. Our experience with the Marunouchi began when I made the reservation via email and received the kindest reply from the staff. The correspondence (we wrote several times since we changed dates, etc.) was always friendly and accomodating. The hotel is only a 10-15...

Location cannot be beaten. No views of the castle but to the left within 5 mins walk is the famous castle. To the right within 5 mins walk is the shrine and the other 2 attractions of the shopping streets. The river is also just here. The town is very tidy and clean. There is a spring for a lovely...

By western standards the hotel is ok but nothing special. Beds were ok but the pillows were too hard. Small bathroom. Wifi worked also decently. The breakfast was for a westerner very, very basic: yoghurt, corn flakes, tiny croissants and jelly. Coffee from the machine, too mild for our taste. Close to the railway station. We used this hotel as...

We arrived in Matsumoto by train. We were at hotel by 1 pm and they do not allow early checkin, but took our bags while we headed out to visit the castle. Upon our return, the bags were in our room. Room is large with extra couches. They provided English instructions for the tv and ac controls. Room is excellent.

New and fresh, smaller but excellent hotel well located to major attractions. Good sized bedroom and bathroom, nice toiletries. Breakfast was fantastic with a very large buffet of predominately Japanese choices but some western food as well. Lots of choices of teas. Very helpful staff.

A really spacious and comfortable room in a modern western style hotel really close to the Castle and walkable with cabin baggage size case from the Railway station. The buffet breakfast was a disappointment however with below average quality and choice of food and several items being depleted and not re-stocked promptly.

We had a very nice stay in Matsumoto at the marunouchi hotel. Our room was huge, a great spot to relax after small rooms in Tokyo. This is a new hotel, very good location close to the castle and a short walk from the train station. Clean and quiet too. We used it as a base to explore the city...

Definitely a recommendation. Because of bad weather conditions we couldn't hike further in the mountains nearby and decided to treat ourselves. We called the hotel and they told us there was a twin room available. Not really cozy but we thought a nice bed and shower would already help. Arriving at the hotel they upgraded us immediately to the suite...
