This Japanese guest house is a small family-run business inside an old historical building located in the central tourist area of Kanazawa, hence very convenient for sightseeing and provides a very unique hotel experience. The guest house serves Japanese-style breakfast, and the accommodation cost is very reasonable. The guest rooms are all located upstairs and the room we were stayed... More

Great place to stay and experience traditional Japanese style of living. Well run ,clean accommodation, delicious breakfast, kind owners. We have stayed for two nights, April21-22/2016, first night a rude (to owners) and noisy couple arrived late evening but that did not spoil our stay. Would definitely stay again.

Can't agree more with the reviews here. Yogetsu is one of a kind experience for my family. The minute you enter Yogetsu, you will feel the tranquility and serenity of a very special ryokan. The facilities indeed are modern, yet the owners maintain the incredible atmosphere of an old geisha house. The owners don't speak a lot of English but... More

Totally agree with other reviewers. Yogetsu blends the best of old style building with modern technology. My husband very impress with the toilet lid automatically opens when the toilet door is opened. The room is so spacious, clean and comfortable. We like this place so much that we looked forward returning to Yogetsu after a day of sightseeing. The owners... More

This was my second time in Japan having spent an overall of 4 months here, and this was the best place I've stayed at! The location is perfect - right in the middle of Higashi Chaya district (the historical Geisha district) but still somehow quiet! There is no sign in the front, which would be the only reason why we... More

Located right in the heart of the old geisha district, Yogetsu blends the best of an old style ryokan with modern technology (the latter included the top of the line Toto Washlet toilet seat, which opens for you automatically when you enter the water closet!) The host couple was incredibly nice and helpful (the husband took us around the neighborhood... More

We asked our Japanese speaking friend to book this for us as the owners don't speak English. We arrived to kanazawa in the evening, after the last bus, so took a taxi. The owners were very friendly and were able to communicate the important things we needed to know, such as when and where breakfast was, using gestures. There's a... More

We had a charming experience when we stayed at this three room Japanese ryokan in one of the most picturesque areas in Kanazawa, the Higashi-Jyaya district. To make a reservation you may need help from your Japanese speaking friends but its well worth the stay to sleep in this very unique, wooden, historic home. Our bedroom was large and comfortable,... Staying at Yogetsu was wonderful! I stayed there for 3 nights in June, in a beautiful traditional tatami-style room. The whole building glows with a warm lacquered finish; the toilet is of the future! Everything is clean and quiet and calm, and there's a small garden you can contemplate while sipping tea. The breakfast was nice, but nothing to write... More

This is one of our highlights visiting Japan. There are only us staying in June for two nights and the hosts were so lovely. Although no English was spoken there, all basic needs were met. We also had breakfast there- traditional Japanese style. It was a little too small for someone who needs big breakfast but we didn't mind experiencing something... More
