I booked this hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday and given the special occasion selected this place on the back of its price... Don't let the high price deceive you as it was a disappointment from the moment we arrived until the moment we checked out. Upon arrival there was no one to greet us and when we called someone who had absolutely no experience of greeting guests turned up. After some time we were able to leave our luggage in one of the 'holding rooms' which eventually ended up being our room. I think we were the only guests staying so when eventually the guest relation lady turned up she was more interested in finding out when we would be turning in for the night. We experienced the same at check out as she kept making suggestions that suited her schedule and showed no interest in what we wanted to do. Throughout dinner she would stand in the corner of the room yet failed to pour any alcohol and butt into our conversation without being invited to do so. It has been 3 months since we visited so I have forgotten a lot of the negative details but the one thing I remember is never to book a hotel based on price ever again!!! Avoid this place at all cost.

This is a local hotel, where you sleep on footon on not on the bed... The 11 course dinner looked very nice, but it is not passing Western tast, we do not find tasty sea urchin or sea comcombre... So we eated probably 1.5 dishes... It is totally overprised - 10900 yen for 1 night half board... NOT recommended

Having heard good things about the Kanazawa seafood cuisine we decided to book a high end dinner in Kinjoro Ryokan. The location was indeed beautiful. We got our own large tatami room with a view onto a nice Japanese Garden plus a bespoke Geisha that served all the dishes and drinks for us. The dinner consisted of eleven, mostly seafood, dishes, and the majority of them were good to very good but not awe inspiring. There was also a tuna sashimi dish that was of terrible quality. It is puzzling that such a place would trash its reputations by serving a sinewy and chewy tuna that would be thrown to the dogs in other places. We got better quality served in places that were a 10th of the price that this Ryokan charged. We had nice bottle of white French wine and the overall bill came to around $700 for two. Clearly one pays a good dime for the location, exclusivity and service but given the high price of $300 per person for the food alone one also would expect top quality ingredients amd that was just not the case. We had a much tastier dinner at Kani Honke in Sapporo which charges about 1/3 of the price. I would not fo back as Kinjoro is more fad than substance.

My wife and I stayed at Kinjohro this past weekend. Kanazawa was in the midst of a heatwave yet the lobby was very pleasant to step into and our rooms had AC. The service was excellent and the rooms were large and comfortable. We were provided yukatas as well as silk pajamas and made to feel at home. The decor is “Japan minimalistic” but truly relaxing. Breakfast and dinner are provided but I have to say that the food quality at dinner was somewhat lacking- generally quite good but the seafood dishes lacked freshness.
