Asunaro Inn is a traditional style building made of 200-year-old materials brought from the historic Echigo area of Niigata Prefecture. I welcome foreign tourists to my inn with our warm hospitality and homely atmosphere, and I would like them to learn about Japanese traditions, culture, and cuisine. Whenever you come to Takayama, please consider Asunaro Inn as your premier choice. Thank you very much. The building where the lobby is used to be an old landlord's house in the village on the mountain of Niigata prefecture and is built with thick Keyaki wood. This house was built without nails to withstand the high humidity and 4-5 meters of snow the area receives. Our lobby has a great reputation because it displays the consistency, simplicity, and serenity of the Japanese architecture style. We will preserve this cultural site. We are sure that all our guests will be pleased with the beauty of the old Japanese architecture. We promise you will feel relaxed and at home.

As we walked in to Ryokan Asunaro, the modern day blissfully melted away as we were transported back through the years. This 200 year old Ryokan was disassembled and moved to its current location around 30 years ago. A delicate balance of dark wooded beams and light, sliding

We thought thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. From the moment we arrived we were immersed into the Japanese culture. It was spotlessly clean and the meals were truly authentic. Well worth a visit.

My husband and I were lucky enough to snag one of the last rooms at Ryokan Asunaro for our visit to Takayama to see the Sannō Matsuri (spring festival) in April. We stayed here as part of our larger honeymoon trip, and it was a lovely stay! I highly recommend this ryokan. The

We would highly recommend a stay at Ryokan Asunaro. Our room was large and comfortable, with an amazing layout and comfy well organised furniture. The traditional Japanese dinners were succulent. Everything to eat was explained beforehand and was made and presented at a very
