Pros: Hotel is conveniently situated 5 min walk from takayama train station and bus station. Plenty of restaurants, shops, pubs etc all walking distance which is great. Got a superior/double room and it has the largest bathroom I've ever seen. There is also an extra powder room for ladies, dining table area, 1 small fridge, 2 lounges, 2 flat screen... More

After a rather long walk from the station, not worth a taxi even for 80 yr olds, but it was hot we were welcomed with smiling efficient staff. Our room was a little larger than most of our other Japanese hotels with pleasant views to the hills. This was our first small town and it was wonderful.A morning walk of fifteen minutes took us... It is a strange design, our rooms were in a section that had been added and initially confusing to find. The staff were very good and there are plenty of facilities. Even restaurants and shops in the complex. It had well appointed bedrooms quite comfortable.

Our tour guide felt obligated to apologize to us for the low quality of lodging in this property, after we had enjoyed a great hotel in Tokyo. She said there are better hotels, but they are not within easy walking distance of the attractions we came to see. That's a may be, but if I were coming back I might... More

This a small hotel in takayama but excellently located. Everything is within walking distance. It would not be fair to compare this hotel with the big city ones. The highlight of this hotel is the onsen and the ŕestaurant bonjour..... just fantastic Chinese and French cuisine.

Slightly outdated / old feel to the rooms and could tell that tour buses come and stay here (banquet halls multiple restaurants inside) but was good price and walkable to train station (8-10 minutes) and restaurants etc. However we didn't encounter any issues and didn't spend much time there.

A decent hotel for a short stay: Good location near train station. The rooms are a good size, but walls are scuffed and decor is 'meh'. Saving grace is a rooftop (Japanese style) sauna: Make sure you sit in the outdoor tub with a stunning view of the city and surrounding mountains!

The Hida Plaza Hotel provides clean and comfortable accomodation within walking distance of the main city attractions. Room size and facilities are fine, as are the other hotel amenities. We had breakfast and were adequately feed with a reasonable range of options. Staff were freindly and helpful. No complaints.

The rooms are very clean, but the baths are about the size of what you get on a cruise ship. The staff is adequate. The breakfast at the Bonjour restaurant is subpar compared to any hotel we've stayed at on this trip. For two nights, it was fine, but I would not want a long stay here.

The adjective I can use to best describe this hotel is adequate. It was clean, the service was attentive and the room was a no frills affair. We took a twin room as they tend to be bigger than a double and it was of a regular 3 star standard. The beds were rock hard, not good if you have... More
