The hotel offers onsen, breakfast and dinner for nearly 173 dollars per couple per night. I really believe it was worth it. You can wear the yukata they provide to stroll around the city LOL. Great stay!

Traditional, affordable family run ryokan. Lovely onsen (mineral baths) to relax in. Onsuite toilet/washbasin. A wonderful 12 course Kaiseki dinner that was worth the room charge alone and a huge japanese breakfast all included in the room price. Attentive friendly staff are always smiling and helpful. They have a shuttle bus to pick you up and drop you off at... More

Amazing ryokan in lovely Takayama! The traditional guesthouse welcomes you with most delicious meals, relaxing onsen and breathtaking views. They also offer a free transfer from the JR station. The only downside is that you can hear everything happening around the house. As in all traditional ryokans, the walls are very thin and pipes make a lot of noise. Just... More

After reading all the good reviews about this Japanese style ryokan, we decided to make reservation. The hotel let us know they will pick us up at the train station when they confirmed our booking via e-mail. The location has some distances from the train station, but it's easy to walk towards the main attractions without luggage. The room size... More

We stayed for a day with Oyado Yamakyu, and took rooms with toilets. There were clean shared showers, but it was one person at a time and so we did not mind it (some of us were not so keen on public baths!). The rooms were clean and service really good - including helping lugging the bags upstairs to our... More

Thank you for your service. You make me feel work from the heart :) which are service what we need without asking. The room is cozy and comfortable. Especially the onsen was so nice. I and my friends have a good time there and enjoy the Japanese bath time together !!! Thank you for all staff :))

Our family of 6 including two teenagers stayed 2 nights in Yamakyu and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Check in was warm and friendly and the rooms were delightful and gave us an insight into a traditional Japanese house. The onsens were very soothing at the end of the day. Dinner in the house introduced us to Japanese cuisine and was... More

This was our first Ryokan experience - we stayed one night and it was really nice. We were picked up at the Takayama station in an MUV. You need to let the staff know when you are arriving. Would also recommend sharing your photo with them so they can identify you, rather than depending on phone calls. Arriving at the... More

We stayed three nights in May. A lovely traditional experience. Very friendly staff, a good mix of mostly Japanese with some European tourists, all ages and nice interactions. Shared spaces good for coffee and relaxing. Great breakfast and dinner. One of us is on a gluten free diet and they were so helpful it was amazing. Thoroughly recommended
