Despite the fact that Oyado Hachibei is kind of far from the center, everything else is just perfect. Nice room with the view of rice field, Beautiful onsen: outdoor and indoor, very friendly staffs, great breakfast, peaceful and quite atmosphere. We couldn't ask for me, it was a perfect stay. Direction: take Sarubobo bus from Tayakama bus center to Hida... More

First of all the owners were friendly, though language was a problem. Appreciated the collection by the shuttle bus and being dropped off back at the train station the next day. We had two non smoking adjoining rooms as there were four of us traveling together. Our room we had to air as it reeked of smoke when we entered.... More

Good place to stay when your in the Takayama area. Little bit far from the center but that 20 minute walk is good for you :-) owners are really nice. When we left we asked for a public bus and the owner offered us a lift to the train station without hesitation, even though it was morning so rush hour... More

Our first time to stay in Onsen Hotel. Apart from having to change to the public slippers indoors & another set of public slippers in the public toilets, everything else is excellent. It took us a while to get used to wearing public slippers. I always wear socks just in case. The onsen is very clean. The food is excellent.... More

For travelers trying to save some yen, and who don't mind the walk into town, this is a good choice. The Japanese breakfasts were excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful (although minimal on the English language side) and facilities were clean. It has a nice onsen, including a one person outside tub. It's very close to the outdoor folk... More

Stayed here for a night as we wanted an extra day around the area and are pleased to have picked this place. It is only round the corner literally two mins walk from the folk museum . It is spotlessly clean and the owners although having not much English were really nice and as helpful as can be. The bathrooms... More

I have stayed here many times. The sleeping is Japanese, the bath likewise with a wonderful outside bath. The owners have no English however are very friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful!!!!!!! It is close to the Hide Village for sightseeing and shopping, and a 20' nice walk into main town. Taxi about ¥1200.

We booked through a booking agency for the spring festival and felt really lucky to get somewhere (we left it quite late). With fairly low expectations we found this guesthouse was excellent. Our room was light and spacious with good storage and great views. The traditional bathing facilities were excellent and very quiet. We didnt' eat so can't comment on... More
