Absolutely beautiful ryokan - from the fantastic breakfast and dinner, to the warm welcome, to the Yukata experience (yes u pad around the hotel in yukatas here) it was an absolute blast. Can only describe the room as Modern-traditional with a touch of tradition. Take the experience-you will not regret it!

We had four requirements for our accomodation in Takayama - traditional Japanese, convenient location, private Onsen and a communal dining room. Ohara koto no yume delivered above and beyond on all four and was so much more. The staff were absolutely delightful and most accomodating. The rooms were fabulous and the location was second to none. Takayama is a beautiful...

This more of a hotel that looks like a Ryokan - but it is a great experience. We took them up on the traditional clothes and went walk-about in the town and had dinner out - it was a lot of fun. The bathroom in our room was tiny compared to the room itself and while I know we could...

Stayed at Oyado Koto no time for a night to visit Shirakawago. It's near the train station and walking distance to the old town. Nice and comfortable ryokan and they served delicious dinner and breakfast. I would think worth including meal during the stay. The staff are really friendly and we have no problem communicating in English. We have booked...

Ryokan is very conveniently located: 5 minutes to train station and 10 minutes to the old city center. No need to use public transportation at all. Owner and entire staff extremely friendly and helpful, they cared much about our 9 years old boy (gave him every day a present). You can borrow every day a Yukata (summer kimono) and wear...

A true Japanese experience, with faultless service, excellent rooms, outstanding food and pleasant hot baths. I highly recommend this to anyone heading to Takayama and is looking for the full old-school Japanese feel.

We stayed in This Ryokan for two nights and enjoyed it a lot. There were two lovely gentlemen who were there all along our stay and were always willing to help. We got Yukata which we have chosen ourselves and one of the ladies from the staff taught us how to wear it. Breakfast was ok but not a highlight....

Very glad to have selected Koto no Yume, a charming Ryokan in Takayama. Even though it was indeed close to the train station you never hear the trains. The young man who greeted us was most kind and charming. He spoke English very well and checked us in promptly. We selected our yukata's and were shown to our room which...

We wanted to try the real japanese thing so first ryokan available in our tour was this one in Takayama and we were not disappointed. Super friendly staff speaking enough English to perfectly explain all the necessary info. We tried the private onsen and the japanese breakfast and all was excellent. Unfortunately we arrived too late and was fully booked...

Three night stay. Two would be enough if you weren't doing a tour. The oyado koto is terrific! Very close to the station and an easy walk to everything you want to see. The staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to help. Ryokan style establishment ... First time for us, so took me a night to get used to...
