Very nice hotel and service where you can have a nice stay, 5 minutes walking from the historic city center. Not surprising in Japan but it has a fantastic and warm service from everyone. We also had a very nice and typical dinner with sashimi, hide beef and other delicious specialties.

Loved this Ryokan!!! The service here was amazing, and it was only a few minutes from the train station. We had a fabulous stay here - the food was fantastic, both the breakfast menu and the dinners. The wait staff was phenomenal, they went out of their way to make sure you were pleased with the food and the service....

3 minutes from the train station and 10 minutes from the old town. Great and welcoming staff. Lovely spacious room but tiny bathroom. Food is cooked at the table! Most enjoyable. Public onsen but also private bath. Breakfast is also cooked at table. Saves on kitchen!!

It is very convenient place and walking distance to the bus station. Every guest will be provided a set of Yukata during the stay. May request to assist to put on the yukata. Nice breakfast served! I will stay again if i re-visit Takayama.

Absolutely beautiful ryokan - from the fantastic breakfast and dinner, to the warm welcome, to the Yukata experience (yes u pad around the hotel in yukatas here) it was an absolute blast. Can only describe the room as Modern-traditional with a touch of tradition. Take the experience-you will not regret it!

We had four requirements for our accomodation in Takayama - traditional Japanese, convenient location, private Onsen and a communal dining room. Ohara koto no yume delivered above and beyond on all four and was so much more. The staff were absolutely delightful and most accomodating. The rooms were fabulous and the location was second to none. Takayama is a beautiful...

This more of a hotel that looks like a Ryokan - but it is a great experience. We took them up on the traditional clothes and went walk-about in the town and had dinner out - it was a lot of fun. The bathroom in our room was tiny compared to the room itself and while I know we could...

Stayed at Oyado Koto no time for a night to visit Shirakawago. It's near the train station and walking distance to the old town. Nice and comfortable ryokan and they served delicious dinner and breakfast. I would think worth including meal during the stay. The staff are really friendly and we have no problem communicating in English. We have booked...
