We enjoyed our stay and our room was very clean with great mountain views. As others have said, shoes off after you enter! We found the wifi unreliable in the lobby but only stayed one night so it didn't bother us that much. Make sure you use the onsen on the top floor, private rooms if you prefer but a...

A lovely Japanese hotel with fantastic onsens. My husband and I really enjoyed the public and private onsens with great view of Takayama! Good breakfast. It would be perfect if WIFI is available in guest rooms. We'll be back!

The hotel is a real gem. It is Japanese style hotel ,with a small welcoming Japanese garden at the entrance and a Japanese style lobby. Our beds were western style, though, and thus very comfortable. Inside the hotel no shoes are allowed and you get a closet behind the lobby to put your shoes in. Breakfast is rich, with Japanese and...

Onset on top floor is spectacular. Room spacious and comfortable. Smorgasbord breakfast very impressive as long as your adventurous with your food. Very high quality and expensive restaurants within the hotel. WiFi only available on level 1&2 and unreliable even there.

Staff were enthusiastic and friendly. Breakfast and dinner were reasonably good and this saved the day. You have to remove your shoes and leave them in a locker. They expect you to walk around barefooted or with socks. The flooring in the restaurant is quite slippery and it can be dangerous to walk wearing only socks. You would not want to...

A nice blend of traditional and modern. We received a warm welcome and the staff were wonderful throughout our stay. Enjoyed the brown lounge wear you get in your room! Beautiful decor in the room and views of the mountains. Good breakfast too.

If you're staying in takayama, this hotel is a no-brainer. The room was spacious(especially after just coming from tokyo), bedding was comfortable and large, clean, and you get a nice view of the city and it's affordable. It's got the nice traditional touches to the room to make you feel like you're in japan(no shoes), but you don't feel out...

My husband and I loved this hotel. It provided us with some special experiences from Japan. Walking around without shoes, sleeping close to the floor but comfortably and wonderful hot baths. The clothing provided was an added bonus.

Located within a 5 mins of the Takayama Railway station, this hotel has everything you need. Relaxed atmosphere, walking distance to the web of the heritage area, great breakfast and very comfortable room. Takayama is a beautiful town set in the mountains. If you have time do the 2hour Sake Experience course and have a beer and Hida beef bun...

It's a hotel rather than a ryokan, with a spa on the roof, close to the station, clean but rather basic, small rooms, does a decent breakfast. But our room was a bit uncared for, the paper screens were damaged, there were cigarette burns in the tatami, the shower was a primitive plastic pod in a worn state. The promised...
