If you're looking for a five star hotel with all the mod cons, you won't find it here. I was initially disappointed with the dated furnishings and worn carpet, not to mention no ensuite; but then I took it for what it was - a tradional Japanese guesthouse with large rooms and old fashioned furniture. The shared bathroom was a... More

I stayed here with my parents for two nights and as they wrote, it was more than disappointing! The rooms were filthy and the hotel was in terrible disrepair. There was visible mold all over the bathrooms (where you change to go in the shower.) And there was some in their own room, which smelled of smoke and mold as... More

We read all the positive reviews and stayed two nights. Our adult son had one room and we were next door. It is sad to say that this hotel needs a lot of attention. There is mold everywhere. The common bath area has mold everywhere. The furniture in our rooms is either very poorly hand made or old and dirty.... More

Just as everyone has also commented, the breakfasts are truly out of this world. There are 4 different meals, the hida beef is delicious and cooked over a traditional stove right on your table. We stayed for 2 weeks so she even made us a few different varieties including tasty salmon. Apart from the food the absolute best thing about... More

We booked this hotel less than 2 months from the date we travel, my 4 years old son stay free of charge using existing bed, free late check-out till 11am. This was the best budget around the area I found as some Ryokan/ B&B child cannot be accommodate. A high slope narrow sidewalk about 100m walk into the hotel from... More

Rooms are simple but neat and clean. The owner was lovely and serves up the most magnificent breakfast in the mornings. It cooks in front of you on the table! Reasonable location, we walked to everywhere (as long as you don't mind a good walk). One thing to note is that the "shared bathroom" is a Japanese style "shared", meaning... More

Small clean and comfortable.. But the highlight is the breakfast.. The manager is so nice and she prepares an amazing meal of local sukiyaki and traditional Hida region foods. You will have a 1 minute walk up hill to get to the hotel. If you ar looking for good cooking in the morning, this is the place. We arrived at... More

Family run hotel. Owner was very nice to lend us a signage "occupied" for the shared bathroom. Breakfast is good & the beef is yummy. We just need a bed for the night, so the room & price was fine for us. Very convenient to reach morning market & old town. We are already planning to go back...hopefully soon &... More

Nice family run hotel that offers a traditional Japanese breakfast (with beef, so advise reception if you have specific dietary requirements). Rooms are homely and randomly decorated (not a bad thing), with AC and come with a hot water jug and kettle. Lavatories are shared and sinks and hairdryers are in a communal area. Shower is shared and there’s no... More

Straight up this 'hotel' is closer to a hostel. There are shared bathrooms, with communal showers. There is no hanging space in the rooms, other than three coat-hangers on hooks on the wall. The beds are very uncomfortable, the pillows are like bags of cement. The fridge in the room also didn't work. The hotel is quite noisy, from both... More
