=Glamorous Japanese style accommodation at ancient Hida-Takayama Japan= * The hot spring from Jindai spring gushes from 1200m underground. It is one of the few hot springs among the local accommodations. Its attractive spring quality feels like a rich beauty serum. If you touch your skin in the spring, you will feel the smooth silky texture. This particularly appeals to guests who love moist smooth skin and makes them visit again and again. * We serve you the very best out of the great variety of local fresh foods with Hida local sake according to the seasons. Wagyu Hida Beef Steak is the most popular main dish. Our selected beef supplier brings the finest quality Hida beef to us. The local Hida beef is famous for its marbling pattern but has no extra fat, and its texture is so soft it almost melts in the mouth. The cooking method for Hida beef varies including steak, shabu-shabu and sukiyaki. Dinner is the KAISEKI(Japanese traditional course meal).

Stayed 2 nites at this ryokan. Staff was friendly and efficient from Day 1, especially Atsushi. Most staff speak English. A nice property with both indoor and outdoor onsen. There’s a shuttle bus that runs between the train station and the ryokan which makes it very convenient for all guests. Food was good too.

We spent two nights at Hidatei Hanaougi. It was very relaxing and peaceful. Everything was done in perfection. It was decorated with a lot of details of an onsen ryokan, but the amenities are super clean. We were greeted by the hotel staff warmly, and led to eat dinner. The bed was set when we get to the room. I soaked a little bit in the onsen before heading to bed. The next day, we went for a day trip to Shirakawa, and came back at dinner time. It was very nice, and exciting. In the second day, our staff is Amano. She was so helpful in many ways. During our breakfast and dinner, she makes sure that everything is done right. She introduced the dishes very well, so we know what we are eating. She also showed us how to cook our shabu shabu and Sakiyaki, as well as how to cook our omelette. The food is very exceptional, and presentation was perfect. Amano also gave us some travel tips to Nagoya, which is her hometown. She waved us goodbye when we leave on our shuttle to Takayama station. She went above and beyond to take care of us and make sure we have a great experience in Japan. Thank you! I highly recommend this place for those who want to go to Takayama for a small vacation!

There are many Ryokans to choose from in Takayama and after much debating, my husband and I visited this Ryokan in Dec. We had high expectations as this was one of the more expensive options and I can tell you our expectations were totally surpassed. We stayed for two nights and found we wished we could have stayed longer as this was the most memorable and relaxing experience of our whole Japan trip. The accommodation is very traditional with tatami mats to sleep on and Japanese style showers. We had a private onsen and this was well worth it to have our own hot spring to use any time. The mattresses were very comfortable and we were very cosy even though the weather was very cold in Dec. The food was truly delicious and we certainly recommend having the traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. But the stand out for us was the service. It was excellent from the moment the shuttle bus driver greeted us all the way to when they farewelled is. Our attendant Riho was courteous and accommodated us so well. We were grateful to have her speak English as this was quite a traditional Japanese inn. The door man Kazuyuki was perceptive and offered us umbrellas in the morning telling us it would rain later, when it looked fine, and he was totally right. Takao Munenobu on the front desk had excellent English skills and gave us some good tips on what to do around the area. We are grateful for the team at this Royokan and would certainly recommend staying here.

This is a traditional Japanese ryokan. If you are open minded to new foods, not wearing shoes, sleeping on a floor mattress, and following traditional Japanese customs you will love it here. While I was a little apprehensive when booking this location it turned out to be a very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend it. It was one of the high lights of our trip to Japan. The Onsen baths are terrific and don't miss them. The meals are graciously service, excellent in quality and so beautifully presented that you want to take pictures not eat it. We especially enjoyed the hospitality of our hostess Ana. She was terrific in explaining all the Japanese customs and always seeking to make our stay enjoyable. Ana was a big part in making this visit special. Tip - no coffee at breakfast but the front desk offers coffee starting at 7:00 AM.

The hotel is traditional Japanese, so no shows, no western showers or western beds. The experience is worth it though. You get Japanese wear and the showers and beds are traditional. There are public bath house (naked), and the food is traditional as well (we couldn't eat all of it). Great experience if you want to try something different.
