The staff were outstanding. They were not intrusive but attentive to detail. While the facility is older, it has character and the staff will make a stay wonderful. The food was great and representative of the region.

We stayed at the Hidatei Hanaugi for one night and it was absolute bliss. We had a rental car and had informed the ryokan about our approximate arrival time. They had someone waiting for us to arrive on the main road so he could show us where to park! They also quickly sent out a bellboy to collect our bags....

We stayed in Hidatei Hanaougi for 2 nights and there is just one word that fits this ryokan: perfect. From the moment we were picked up at the trainstation we felt sincerely welcome and pampered. All staff we met, was extremely friendly and helpful. Maybe not everybody was fluent in English, but all worked out totally fine. At our arrival,...

Takayama may be a little off the beaten track, but if you only go to one Ryokan make it this one. From the welcome to leaving everything was perfect. Yuki looked after us throughout our two night stay with grace, style, friendliness, super efficiency and a gentle sense of humour. Each day Yuki helped select my wife's Yukata to wear....

We stayed at Hidatei Hanaougi for three nights during the Takayama Fall Festival. We enjoyed the clean, spacious, and quiet atmosphere of the inn. We were matched with two excellent assistants, Yoshimi and Maria, who were very professional and kind. They also had a wonderful command of English. We had a very relaxing stay and we hope to return again....

We did stay in this traditional Japanese Hotel with a group of friends touring Japan in 2 weeks. We have been impressed positively by the Hotel's infrastructure, with is traditional but at level. Good food and very friendly service. The outside water basin contained an impressive number of Koi fishes of beautiful color combination.

We stayed 2 nights here and had a really great experience. We had a room with our own private onsen tub....well worth it. We ended up never going to the communal onsen...just enjoyed our privacy and our own personal hot spring tub. The room was huge! Service and staff was excellent, accommodating and very nice. The food was really good. One...

We stayed for one night before starting the Alpine tour. It was a nice surprise. We had a room with a private Hot spring bath. The rooms are decently sized and have everything you could want and the hotel is quite beautiful. The public onsen was also good. The staff is really friendly and the meals are delicious. They have...

This is a wonderful ryokan and onsen distinguished by its impeccable service. My wife, daughter and I were greeted and checked in by Minami-san, who looked after us exclusively and exceptionally well for the our whole stay, and that included the full Japanese set course dinners and breakfasts - which were simply stunning. Thank you so much Minami-san. We greatly...
