My wife, daughter and I stayed here for one night this January. The receptionist was rude and unwelcoming. The facility is old and worn down. The hallways are unheated as is the toilet room in the room (it is a small closet with a window to the outside that is open for circulation so the area is cold and the...

Firstly, reviewers need to understand this is a traditional japanese style hotel. If one have the expectations for the rooms to be like those chain groups, then go stay at the chain groups. Yes, signs of age shows in this hotel, but it gives character to the place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the space is pretty big, in...

Small room with futon on low plinth - not as comfortable as others where they had laid directly on the floor. Hard bean pillows. Thin walls - aware of neighbours activities. Shower over bath. Impossible to have a decent shower as water goes hot and cold all the time and quickly. Ryokan interior looks well worn and scruffy in places....

I rarely write reviews, let alone negative ones. The front desk lady was rude, she showed us to our room and quickly disappear without giving me the chance to ask questions. The whole place is outdated and smelly. Our room was on the third floor and they have no elevators so you have to carry your bags up (other real...

This Ryokan was really well located in Takayama. We arrived late, but found the hotel easily. The staff we encountered upon check-in did not really speak any English, but somehow he made it work. We were very impressed that we were really able to understand everything he said...without any English and without us speaking any Japanese. Our room was very...

Traditional ryokan style accomodation with good onsen facilities. We booked a double room without private onsen. The indoor public onsen is very clean and surprisingly quiet. They are separated by gender and in comparison to other onsen we visited, were very warm. We could only stay in for less than 5 minutes or so. We did make use of them...

We booked this accommodation (my mum 68 yo and myself 29 yo) at about $200 AUD a night for the superior room with breakfast included. It was booked based on the reviews from Trip Advisor and other websites. I wish we had really done some thorough research so we could have known it was not worth the money. When you...

First off, this is a Japanese style hotel, or ryokan. If you come expecting huge rooms and marble baths, you're going to be disappointed. Our room had a private bath, where most do not. The beds were futons. It feels unusual to Westerners, but it's quiet and comfortable. The onsen is indoors, separated by gender and is quite hot. We...

This was our first ryokan experience, and it was a great! We stayed in a double bedroom with private toilet (#315) for two nights. Rooms were clean, quiet, spacious, and VERY comfortable - very soft beds and comforters, nice robes, green tea and a small treat in the sitting area (hot water for tea lasts all day), good AC, and...

We booked a triple room for 2 adults and 2 kids. Room size is spacious. Booking web showed our room equipped 2 single beds and 1 tatami but in fact, we all slept on tatami (the mattresses of the 2 single beds were just laid down on the floor). No lift inside the hotel so we had to take our...
