We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Miyako Gifi City. Don Dulaj and Shun Hikichi and the other staff there were the most friendly, helpful people we would have met. The hotel is very clean, and located in a very nice part of Gifi, near to the river. The laundry was collected immediately after one phonecall. This service was the fastest we have ever experienced. The food was very well prepared, the breakfast was very nice. We have stayed at other big 5* hotels, but none had room service as fast as Miyako in Gifu City.
We unknowingly accidentally left our personal possessions in the room safe. We received an email the next day from Don Dulaj and Shun Hikichi who made sure a courier delivered our possessions to Kyoto. They went above and beyond their duty to ensure our possessions were returned to us. This was amazing service, and most hotels would not be so helpful. I recommend anyone stay here, who would like a perfect holiday.

Chose this hotel as a tourist deal with a return free shuttle bus from Nagoya (post Covid)
Shuttle left on time from the Shinkansen side…only about 20-25 people.
Very comfortable bus with shields between the seats..lots of room and many windows to be opened if you so chose.
Arrived in Gifu on schedule.
Not able to check in early but our luggage was kept for us and put into our room before we checked in.
A large room and a big bathroom on the 6th floor (618) looking out over the river and with a great view of Gifu castle.
A pleasant and easy walk along the river to the bridge going over to the park and ropeway up to Gifu castle (beautiful foliage right now and the park is free to walk around!)
Good wifi in the room…and check out until 12.
Could not ask for anything more.
The hotel has a luxurious feel in the communal areas and the staff were all extremely pleasant and courteous.
Would definitely stay again if the price were right.

There is a style and way of doing things in Japan that you only really appreciate when your in the country. Its a polite and formal hospitality that is deep with respect, its a comfortable and clean style that is some how dated and trendy all at once. The Miyako lives up to these endearing traits with a comfort and warmth that makes your stay very enjoyable.

The rooms are well sized and comfortable, the bathroom is not modern but also not overly out of date and everything is impeccably clean.

Room 1007. Walked in to a freezing 18c on the thermostat. Turned it up, and heated slowly for an hour. Manager complained it was the last occupants fault!! (Seriously, can you believe?)

Not one bottle of complimentary water in the room.

No room service..

Bar closes at 11pm..

Last order for breakfast is 9.30am..

Apart from all that, the hotel is fine..

Would I come back again? No way.. , nor would I recommend this to any serious business traveller.

I'd consider going to the Gifu Grand Hotel, down the road.

Stayed for 5 nights at this hotel and was very pleased with the size, comfort and cleanliness of the room - the room is larger than those at any other hotels I stayed before in Japan. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner worked perfectly well.

Lunch buffet at the Italian restaurant is recommended. The buffet offers a variety of food and has a live foie gras station, which pleased me the most! Drinks (soft drink, tea, coffee) are also included - another great part of the buffet.

Only minor issue is about the English language communication, which was sometimes a bit difficult. Hotel staff are all nice and very helpful but if they can better communicate in English, it would simply be perfect.

Gifu Miyako Hotel is a large hotel built beside a river and opposite a large sporting complex. Staff are friendly bedroom large comfortable bed. Air conditioning was not good with the rooms hot and the controls did not seem to work. A similar complains were told by other guests. Dinner and breakfast were ok. Apart from the AC this is a nice hotel.

The hotel offers good size room for Japan context, nicely furnished and staffs are friendly. There is only one major problem with this hotel, no place to eat. There are hardly restaurant nearby, and in the hotel, the restaurants are always good, not even good enough to cater to the needs of the guest. If you are not driving, you may want to reconsider if you should stay here.

Thank you for staying with us at the Gifu Miyako Hotel, we hope you could sleep and rest well. We are sorry for inconvenience of meal, our hotel is surrounded by beautiful nature. This area is not city so only one Chinese restaurant, three izakaya and two convenience stores are near the hotel. If you don’t mind to walk about for 15 minutes, there are Korean BBQ restaurant, sushi restaurant, café and another Chinese restaurant. Restaurants in the hotel are very crowded especially on holiday so we recommend to book restaurant when you make a reserve hotel or checking in if you decide the restaurant. We look forward to seeing you again someday in the future. Please have a shinning 2016.

I have had the privilege of staying twice in this hotel, in a very spacious suite. Spacious is not normally an adjective used to describe a hotel room in Japan, but rooms 707 and 724 both have 2 bathrooms, a sitting room, 2 large flat screen TVs and 2 plush, comfortable beds. The marble bathroom has both a shower and soaking bath tub. Furnishings are tasteful and elegant, and curtains can be opened or drawn by buttons.

The lobby has a gorgeous fountain, with many levels and lifelike sculptures of cormorant birds. It plays a backdrop at times to weddings performed in the lobby, and elsewhere in the hotel. There's a constant parade of women in colorful kimonos passing through the lobby and in the elevators, as the hotel is a very popular location for weddings. If you're lucky and there's one in the lobby, you can watch from the second floor balconies.

Wired Internet is free in the rooms, with free Wifi available only in the lobby. The hotel staff is friendly and hospitable, and the Gifu Miyako Hotel makes for an excellent stay if visiting the city of Gifu.

Nice hotel, good area, ok breakfast and clean room.
Drinks in the Lobby overpriced.
We booked the hotel specifically because it has a swimming pool. While checking in, we were informed it is for over 18s only. The person at check in made some vague comment that the pool is 1.1m deep and so not suitable for children. I could not find any comment on either the hotel's website or Expedia's (who we booked through) to say that the pool is for 18+ only. The hotel needs to make it clearer for parents that the kids cannot use the pool.
Overall, the hotel seems to living off former glories while maintaining unrealistic prices.

Excellent location, outstanding hospitality, first-rate service--free parking, neat and large room, clean towels, full amenities, numerous electric sockets from wall-to-wall to recharge gadgets, and impressive view of the city and the surrounding from the 10th floor (I stayed in Rm #1006)
