My family (of four) visited Fukui in early August 2016 specifically to visit the dinosaur museum. We chose to stay at the Hotel Riverge Akebono because it is supposed to be family-friendly (it is), because it had a dinosaur-themed room (it does), because it is supposed to be close to the station (it isn't), because it is supposed to have... The rooms were of modest size but well appointed with just about anything that one would need from toiletries to tv and free wifi. There was a menu of different room choices but unless you are doubling up I did not find any real appreciable differences among them. Of particular note is the breakfast buffet which is so well-known that... More

We stayed here 2 nights for our end year holidays. We got the room on the new building. The room was great, comfortable, and clean, not too small. They also have a full amenity kits (included the water in a room). One concern about this is the complimentary drink water, it is not in a bottle, but in a small... More

The Hotel Riverge Akebono is a gem. It was built in the mid 1990s; however, it has been well maintained and some rooms have been completely updated. Sitting by the river in Fukui, in cherry blossom season, hotel rooms with views of the river have spectacular scenery. My room was an "executive single" and beautifully appointed in contemporary decor with... More

Clean and quiet hotel, room (epsecially bathroom) still a bit small compared to many European hotels, but still OK. Room was clean, staff was friendly and speaks more or less english (sufficient to get most of my questions answered). Good breakfast buffet, Japanese as well as a bit western stile (bread, jam) food. You should visit the public bath and... More

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at in Japan. Very practical. Clean (getting a bit old and would be even better with some renovation). Has everything you need in a modern hotel like internet connection for free, PC in the lobby that you can use. A relaxing japanese bath on the top floor of the new building... More

First off, the staff was very, very nice. Very professional. But, I was so disappointed in this hotel. The carpet was absolutely filthy, from the lobby to our room. Our room smelled terrible....like the carpet was just giving off a bad odor. Definitely unpleasant. The towels (which had a posting nearby asking people not to take them) we beyond thin... More

Very nice sento bath at top. Very good breakfast buffet. My wife always wished she could eat her whole day's menu there.

..and enjoy the lovely Riverge Akebono. So nice to be able to open the window(slightly). Very clean and comfortable, pleasant staff. Excellent buffet breakfast with many selections. Quiet. Towels a bit thin, my only insignifigant complaint.
