The best thing about this hotel are the rooms overlooking a beautiful bay view and wonderful sunset views . Otherwise, the hotel is long past its glory days. The rooms and corridors are tired and shabby with scuffed walls and stains on the carpets. Metal railings outside were rusty . The meals, served in a large dining room, were only just ok, lacking in local or fresh seasonal ingredients. The ladies' onsen and rotemburo was good, with great sea views. More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We stayed here during a visit to Okazaki, the reservation had been arranged by our host. Neither Gamagori nor the Okazaki region seems to be attracting (non-Japanese) tourist, the staff told us they hadn't seen a westerner in five years! Service was absolutely excellent, as it was at all Japanese hotels I've stayed at. The food was traditional Japanese and while I enjoy most 'popular' Japanese dishes, this still came as a surprise. It was well-cooked. The hotel itself does look rather tired, both from the inside and the outside. It is a big hulking ugly colossus on the cliff edge, which does provide the rooms with splendid views across the bay. Rooms are spotless but again, tired-looking. We missed lunch and the language barrier prevented us from getting any food, so we had to walk into town (a nice walk along the sea) where we raided a supermarket/bike repair shop.

The onsen in this place was very good. A large indoor pool with a wooden outdoor pool... wonderful to sit under...
