We stayed here for two nights. It was clean and comfortable and good value. We paid $60 US. The breakfast was adequate, The hotel does seem to cater to bus tourists, so try to get to the breakfast buffet after they have been to the trough.

I really enjoyed the swimming pool here. It could have had something to do with the 45 degree celsius heat.

I would stay at the Movenpick if I went to Aqaba again or the Intercontinental truly fantastic hotels with their own private beaches. The public beaches in Aqaba were filthy beyond words.

For it's class and price though, the Gulf was very nice. The location is perfect for the shops and a sea view

On a recent organised tour of Jordan we stayed at this hotel for three nights, where we were welcomed by staff with trays of soft drinks, and then allocated twin room 619 which is on the top floor. This had been the third hotel during our tour, and this was certainly a better choice by the tour company compared to the first two hotels. The location was good, being nearto the local shops, and to a shop that sold water and soft drinks. Bearing in mind that, in general, hotel prices are high, we bought our own supplies and took them discreetly into our hotel room with no problem. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and there was a ‘happy hour’ in the bar every night during our visit with up to 30% off bar prices.

The room was equipped with twin beds, table, chairs, desk, mini bar and flat screen TV. A room safe was provided in the wardrobe. The majority of rooms appear to be angled to face the Gulf of Aqaba, however being on the top floor, this was not the case, so our view of the Gulf was more of a side view, but was still very pleasant. The bathroom was small, but adequate, with over-bath shower, toiletries and hairdryer. The beds were comfortable and there were tea and coffee making facilities.

Breakfasts and dinner are night were buffet style and very good with a good choice. There was a lovely pool with sunbeds and tables and chairs. It looked particularly pretty at night when lit up. Although there appeared to be a snack bar at the pool, this was never open during our stay.

All in all, we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. It ticked all the boxes for us as far as comfort and location were concerned, which made our stay here very enjoyable.

I loved everything about this hotel. My room was large and comfortable with a good view and there was a kettle provided with teabags and coffee sachets. I only ate breakfast in the hotel but it was of a very high standard. Unusually for a buffet, there was friendly attention from the staff such as the smiling waitress who poured tea from a teapot and the egg chef who cooked eggs to order as you wanted them. I usually expect to find this in a higher class hotel. The location of the hotel was excellent with easy access to the town and the promenade.

We were welcomed with a drink and only had to wait a short time for our room despite being very early for check-in. the rom was big and airy though the bathroom was a little small. One day we returned to find our towels arranged as two swans !!
The staff were so friendly and helpful particularly those in the restaurant. Food was presented nicely and was different each night.
The pool was large and there were plenty of sunbeds available with shade if needed.
I agree that the public beaches were crowded and uninviting and there was not that much to do in the town. A couple of days is adequate we felt.

Nice hotel about 5 min walk from Aqaba town centre. There is a great but chilly pool and a pleasant garden and bar. There are several dive shops close to the hotel all PADI backed. I picked the first one I came to and got taken to South Beach about 15 mins away to dive over a sunken ship. Cost approx £25. The rooms are basic and clean, part teamaking ie 2 cups and a kettle but nothing else. There are a couple of bars, one of which has a happy hour between 9pm and 10pm with 30% off. A large beer is about £4.50. The restaurant is pleasant with international buffet dinner and breakfast is pretty good with a chef. Aqaba town is safe to walk out to in the evening and cooler. There is a lit fountain square which is nice to sit in with the locals. You get no hassle but if you are a bit squeamish, avoid the butchers market.
We have had mixed info about the beach. The local beach is for the local people with a non swimwear dress code and we were advised to go to the private beach through another hotel and pay. However, there were a lot of non locals going onto the beach with lilos etc, so check when you get there, as this rule may only apply on thur, fri and sat as it centres around the holy days. I really liked this place, had a good feeling about it straight away.

Enjoyed the towel sculptures - a different one everyday.
Staff friendly and food resonably good and priced. Rooms not huge but adequate, enjoyed Jordanian TV films when it was too hot to go out. Pool OK, in the shade towards the end of the day, sometimes the music is a little too loud.
You can buy a day ticket to the private beach at the Movenpick and enjoy their facilties - wonderful ice creams!

I spent a week in Aqaba Gulf Hotel with my husband. We were very much satisfied in every respect. The location is very good. The hotel is clean, the service was friendly. It is a pity though, that the beach was a bit far away.

We booked this hotel in Aqaba in advance, which turned out to be a very stupid idea. The hotel was really good, no remarks there. The pool was nice and refreshing as well. But what is the point about a luxury hotel in Aqaba that does not have a private beach? We ended up taking the shuttle to Coral Bay Hotel (a couple of kilometers further south – entrance 10 dinars) every day to go snorkelling and swimming because the public beaches in the neighbourhood cannot tolerate Western women in Western swimming wear... The Mövenpick next door charged about 20 euros a person for entrance so that was not an option either.
The rooms were clean, the bathroom was ok, the breakfast was great. The lady behind the desk did not really understand us and was somewhat arrogant.

I have stayed here for one night, last April, during a trip around Jordan - we were a group of 15persons. The hotel room was quite nice, clean. The breakfast was ok, not too many things to chose from but probably because it was before the season started (the hotel did not look fully booked)
The hotel is close to the public beach, which might need some clean up (!women are not allowed in bathing suits, just shorts and tshirts). If you want to suntan, i recommend to ask the hotel reception to help with a booking for one of the shuttles that transport tourists to a private beaches.
