Hi. I took the open water and advanced course old-school -style few years back. It didn't take that much time, but obviously if your trip is short, you'll save time if you do the E-learning. I was learning the theoretical part and got to learn actual skills in the water at the same time. I think its more about your own likings, and save of money of course. I had my open water certificate in 3-4 days and had a few dives behind me at that point.
