The place is nicely situated overlooking a man made watering hole. I liked their tree houses as they gave you an aerial view of the place and the forest and wild animals by the water hole. Their dinner and breakfast was not to my liking and they can definitely improve in that area. The rooms are good and clean.

Hello Frank, thanks for staying with us and your comments regarding your stay. We are pleased you enjoyed the accommodation which is truly unique with great wildlife viewing right from your treehouse! I'm sorry our breakfast was not up to standard and we will taking that under advisement to improve in that area. We hope you will visit us again...

Stayed 2 nights in a thatched treehouse overlooking the waterhole at Miombo. Rustic charm outweighed the rather basic facilities and the location was excellent. Each treehouse has an ensuite shower, wc, balcony, fridge and cooling fan. The complex also has rondavels, a clean swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Had a visit from a buffalo on the first night and the...

We stayed at Miombo over Christmas, and it was a refreshing get away from city life. The menu selection was unfortunately very limited so we had to make do with whatever was available, the chef was quite great actually. A couple of elephants came past the waterhole, what a sight!! We stayed in the tent on stilts and the children...

Miombo Safari Camp was recommended to us by a family from Harare that we met in Malawi. It is very conveniently situated near the entrance to Main Camp, Hwange. Our tented accommodation was luxurious and had a deck overlooking a waterhole. The staff were friendly and helpful and we felt very much at home in the beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed...

If you want bright lights and razzmatazz this is not the place for you. If you want to feel part of the real Africa and the wild then Miombo Lodge is a wonderful place. We stayed in a tree camp with great accommodation and a balcony to view the animals visiting the water hole. We stayed for 6 nights saw...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Miombo. The place is close to the main Deka road, but the way it's laid out soon makes you forget that. We stayed in the really comfortable treehouses and had a wonderful time by the pool during the heat of the day. Saw elephant, buffalo, kudu, wathog etc at the small waterhole on the...

Fabulous lodge with fantastic staff - from the Maitre D to Mr B and the awesome kitchen and house staff. We stayed in an elevated tent very close to the waterhole. An amazing outlook to the waterhole from the bathroom/shower, which is one of the best showers ever! A spacious deck for relaxing at night watching game the animals. Great...

the lodges next to the waterhole are definitely better than the basic accommodation, although the all inclusive package is expensive and you may not be able to manage two game drives every day, especially the days that you travel. the food was good and the staff arranged a birthday surprise for our son, including a cake and entertainment in the...

We stayed at Miombo in the honeymoon suite. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, and make us feel at ease during our stay. The first night they had a local dance group perform after dinner, and it was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend Miombo! The affordable prices, excellent food, and wonderful staff are well...

We had the Honey Moon Suite which was very luxurous and very nicely decorated. We even had a bath with view on the waterhole. A large porch with 2 chairs. The bed was large and comfortable. When we had dinner at the main building, the staff prepared our room and we found warm water bottles in the bed to keep...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Miombo Safari Camp has the distinction of being the closest quality accommodation to Hwange National Park Main Gate & is located in the DETE annex, on a private concession within the eastern border of the Hwange National Park. Having undergone a total transformation we have four brand new boutique raised above ground level platforms that are 75sqm, atop of which are exquisite luxury 55sqm safari suites, configured to accommodate two guests in a queen sized double or twin-bed configuration. Each of these guest suites has a main bedroom, with a wardrobe & storage space for clothes & footwear, a private en-suite bathroom with twin ´His & Hers` basins, ample hot & cold running water on demand, an interior private shower & separate private toilet. We also have two standard tree houses. These accommodation units are rustic & not of the same standard as the new platform units. Instead they cater to safari lovers who may have been to Miombo Safari Camp prior to its transformation, or folks who are seeking a slightly less luxury & more `rustic` bush accommodation. In addition to the raised platform guest suites there are four classic ground level thatched roof rondavels, each one accommodating two guests, with bedroom, wardrobe, private bathroom & shower. ... more   less
