Detailed Reviews
This is a gentleman's club from the late 1800s that it's still a club but they have a hotel with about a dozen or so rooms that they let out to visitors. Well not a five star it is a great hotel and a little bit funky but well worth it. You can spend hours just wondering around taking a look at all the objects that has been collected throughout its hundred plus year history. There is also a three table snooker room and a beautiful bar that will make you feel like you're an old Africa at the end of the 19th century. The restaurant menu is minimal but tasty and you can eat at one of the tables and the center open atrium.

My second stay this year. Best place to stay in Bulawayo especially if you like places with a lot of character/history and not these ugly sterile shiny tiled overpriced big hotels.... Credit especially to the staff who are so pleasant and professional, and who keep the place so clean and smart, no doubt with very limited resources. Our dinner was delicious....those who ordered the oxtail were in raptures and she who had the peri peri chicken and chips said it was excellent too.

Great food, clean rooms, very very friendly staff from reception to waiters to kitchen
All round great experience, lots of history.
Very central and quick to get to the tourist places, the ox tail was exceptionally good so was the fish.
Will definitely stop there again on my next trip to Bulawayo.
Off road secure parking is a must in Bulawayo otherwise you get clamped and it's USA $ 40 to get unclamped even if you have paid parking..

Where ever you go in the world you will never find such an elegant experience for such a bargain price.
We had Oxtail for dinner and it was superb.
A couple of things need som patience like drawing a bath but the overall grandeur and history of everything around you will more than compensate.
The staff are so helpful and welcoming, you feel so comfortable.

We had the most wonderful evening staying here. Established in 1895 it’s one of the oldest buildings in zimbabwe. The grandeur of the entrance and stairs is still there, a little faded but a calm and gentle welcoming atmosphere pervades . Dinner was excellent as was the service and our room so comfortable . Piping hot water and a view from the balcony of what was once a grand old part of the city. Will stay again

This is one of Bulawayo’s secret jewels. Don’t be put off by all the street vendors and the noise outside because inside you will find an elegant, peaceful and charming time capsule and retreat. My husband and I spent a wonderful four days here, welcomed by Simon and Clive and the team, including the ever helpful Tapewa. Our suite on the top floor was comfortable (especially the bed) and spacious and the food was also excellent. We particularly recommend eating in the beautiful courtyard. We highly recommend you stay here on your next visit to Bulawayo. Thank you to everyone at the Bulawayo Club for a truly memorable stay!

+1
If you want every modern convenience and a generic hotel stay, this is not the place for you. If you enjoy history and old gracious buildings, with old fashioned high dining and full English breakfast, this is your place!
We stayed for four nights. The place is aged but they are upgrading rooms even now. We had a redone bath with walk in shower, my sister-in-law had one of the not yet renovated baths. Both were clean and tidy. We enjoyed the breakfast, full English and they were open to modifications. First time I have ever had coffee from a French press.
The place is either wildly historic or down at heel, depending on your perspective. I prefer the former, and enjoyed roaming around and examining the antique furniture and furnishings. Full of memories of a time gone by (and for the better, but the history is cool).
We dined in one evening. Food was good (although they brought me the wrong chicken dish) and the dining room was formal and lovely, if musty.
The whole place needs a good airing out but I absolutely would stay again. Staff were all very accommodating and gracious.

Every moment is worthtreasuring as you step into what must be the last remnant in Africa of a bygone era of British imperial glory. Faded and threadbare in places though it undoubtedly is this is an experience not to be missed. The trophies on the wall are straight out of Mugambo, the Art Deco lift not restored but simply well maintained, the pictures and furnishings down to the monogrammed table wear are exactly as they were when the sun set on this corner of a far flung Emoire. The Dress Code on the walls and Advice to Members are not there for decoration. This seems to remain incredibly a fully functioning Members Club. The staff are willing and unfailingly courteous but don't expect a homogenised chain hotel experience. No air con and the fans are idiosyncratic ,no expresso machines but excellent coffee no fancy food but tasty nonetheless and eaten in beautiful oak panelled surroundings.Dont take the front suite even though it will be kindly offered. It was fine when transport was oxen and horses now it's noisy the rooms to the rear are smaller but quiet.Suspend for a couple of days your sense of time and some of your 21century preferences and be transported to a bygone age in this fascinating and historic city in a sometimes troubled but beautiful and welcoming land.
