The food was amazing. Chalets super comfortable with mini fridge, coffee station and all amenities one needs. Lovely river with plenty of animals on view from bar deck and restaurant. Excellent value for money

The campsites at Maramba River Lodge were nice under shady trees, although next to an mosquito infested river overgrown with weeds ( one could only guess the water underneath); There were water and power points at teh campsite; we saw elephants adn antelpoe on the opposite riverbank and one day a huge croc sunbathing on the weeds; Mosquitos are abundant there in summer; One can book dinner at the Lodge restaurant ( but be warned- they take their time)

I chose this place due to its riverside location as I wanted to see animals as much as possible. It did not disappoint! Within an hour of arriving we saw hippos, crocodiles and a herd of elephants at the river!! We stayed in a luxury safari tent. For the price point, we were happy with it. We didn’t need wifi to our rooms and fancy accommodations, but we definitely got clean, comfortable and a different experience. The service around the property was exceptional, the food was good and the pool was clean and refreshing. The wifi is unreliable which is my only downside, however, it wasn’t a big concern. I had enough wifi to communicate with my family and that was enough. I highly recommend this for a real Africa experience!

I stayed here in a chalet in early October. Was meant to stay three nights but only managed one. The entire place needs a big refurbishment, a good clean, painting and some solid management. The chalet itself was very grimy and there were multiple stains on both the carpet but also the bedcovers. The room was filled with mosquitos and even in the 12 hours that I was there, I used the entire can. Not good, given that one can contract malaria in Zambia. I did not have a problem with the mesh/flyscreen walls but it does need an upgrade. In the morning, I turned on the hot water tap in the shower only to be greeted with a gurgling noise, a trickle of brown water and then nothing. I could not get out out of the shower more quickly. The restaurant has a decent menu on perusal but many, many items are not available or have to be pre-ordered (!!). My friend asked for an orange juice, only to be told that there was none. My grilled chicken for dinner was left unfinished - because it was so tough. Similar experience with the steak - all so overcooked. At breakfast, came the final straw - a hair right in the middle of the butter. 😩 Not kidding. This place is in a good location with elephants and hippos to be seen but you have to be prepared to put up with sub-standard accomodation even in the chalets. For a little bit more, I had an exceptional experience elsewhere in Zambia. Some of the negative reviews of this place date back at least 4 years ago and it seems like absolutely nothing has been done since then.

We stayed at Maramba River Lodge for several nights during our recent stay in Zambia. At this time of year (dry season) hundreds of elephants cross from Zimbabwe into Zambia and normally gather through a section called the Elephant Corridor. This is where Maramba River Lodge lies along the banks of the Maramba River. They have both tents and chalets. We chose a chalet with an enclosed bathroom. There was load shedding in the area (when Zambia does rolling power outages) and they were particularity bad this year lasting 10 hours or more. Fortunately, Maramba River Lodge has a backup generator so you'll never notice the blackouts. The chalets have mesh screen walls but they also had curtains for privacy and our room had an overhead fan though it didn't seem to work very well. It was either placed too high above the bed or was set to run in reverse. That might be my only complaint. They have a really nice pool and bar area where you can order food and drinks and either sit at a table, pool lounge chair or bar itself. Feet away is a lounge where you can get wifi and further on is their restaurant which sits on the riverbed. Because this lodge sits within the Mosi oa Tunya Park, elephants and hippos frequently peruse the grounds so you'll be asked to wait for a guard to escort you to your room at night. Its location in the Elephant Corridor puts it within a few minutes drive from both the falls and Livingstone Town and makes it an ideal location for activities in the area such as Mukuni Big 5, rhino walk, Devil's Pool launch site etc..... I would stay here again and would recommend it. Affordably priced and a real wild feel.
