Have been to Maramba River Lodge three times...2009, 2011 and recently at end of 2018. Definitely tired and shabby at this point. The river is still gorgeous and the hippos and crocs are fun to see. The "luxury" tents are NOT luxury and they should drop the use of the word for

I spend one week at the lodge, in a luxury tent. It become almost unessecary to take a safari after spending time at the lodge. In the river were 6 hippos, crocodiles were patrolling the river as well and elephants came there to take a swim. I hade great time, relaxing, taking a

After a one week tenting safari in Botswana, the chalet cottage was a comfortable change. Maramba is a modest facility with a few shortcomings (e.g. holes in the mosquito netting over the beds). However, the setting on a lagoon off the river gives a great view of hippos, with

We stayed at Maramba for 4 nights in mid September after a weeks camping in Botswana! We stayed in a luxury tent which was welcomed after a weeks camping! The beds were comfy and the ‘room’ had everything we needed, including a lovely outdoor shower! The only thing which could

I would stay here again. I am recommending this place because nature is everywhere; the biggest baboon I have ever seen sitting at our picnic table looking like he is waiting for his chess partner, the family of hippos porpoise-ing, snorting, and cavorting morning and evening

Hi Vicky, We were able to arrange all of our activities through their front desk staff. They made all the calls and arranged our pick up and drop to the lodge. We did a safari at Chobe, fishing trip with Angle Zambia, and we got our own taxi to Victoria Falls but they can also arrange that for you. Just make sure to tell the kitchen staff you will need your breakfast ready early on days with early activities. As they don't serve breakfast until after most activities are set to leave the lodge... which is sort of silly. :)

Hi Simone Z Yes we do have a camping area where you can set up your own camp site- we charge $10 per person for adults and $5 per person for kids under 12 years old. We also have dome tents that are already set up at $39 that sleep two persons. Kind Regards Maramba River Lodge

I have seen this kind of mentality while I stayed at Maramba for 4 months. It is part of a larger current to accuse a lot of lodges of racism, started by highly positioned Zambians to discredit lodges owned by white Zambians, or South Africans or other nationalities. It has nothing to do with racism. I personally witnessed this kind of pressure at other lodges. Maramba does cater for its customers and the reason a lot of day customers had problems there is because they just want to come and swim in the pool without consuming anything, bringing their own food and drinks. In no other country you will see people do this, but suddenly in Maramba, because it is in a National Park and in a great location, this is a problem. About the TV, yeah, that is a joke, firstly because there is nothing on Zambian TV worth watching (as in the rest of the world) and secondly, because there is not supposed to be a TV in a place like this; it is not a sports bar, or a pool room. Pay for a mojito and watch the hippos, you will be better off than watching TV.

"Luxury tent was great."
"Choose a chalet rather than a "luxury" tent, if available."
"Luxury tents are probably cheaper than the chalets - I would go for the tents, definitely."
"Garden room 6 faces towards the campsite across a large lawn and is probably somewhat quieter than some other rooms."
"Rather skip this...."
