I have visited property and stayed at both hotels number of times. However, this time through, we did not get the quality experiences as expected. You could tell the hotel is struggling. None of the staff seemed to be Experienced and definitely not a ROYAL touch. I had to beg 4 times for a basic region adapter for my phone. half the things on the menus were not available. (why not print a special menu for what is available?). My wife and I ordered two different dishes, but got the exact same thing except for the main meats which was different. We understand that Covid has put limitation, but you would expect that this limitation is managed. i.e. for breakfast, we asked for a fried egg.. we literally got a Fried egg on a large plate with nothing else. NO TOAST, no bean, no salad, or anything to at least have a royal presentation. Better option seems to be the neighboring hotel AVANI. I must however say, that the SPA treatments were fantastic and probably the only reason, I would go back there.

Dear Aneesh, I would like to thank you sincerely for providing us with constructive feedback regarding your recent visit to the Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara . I am concerned to note that your expectations with regards to service were not met. My sincere apologies for the unfortunate incident at the breakfast experience and the restaurant. I will personally address this with my team and ensure that this lapse in service does not reoccur. On a positive note, thank you for complimenting the Spa. We are privileged to be perfectly located on the banks of the Zambezi River with the mist and roar of the thunderous falls just a few hundred meters away. Once again, thank you for sharing your feedback and i look forward to seeing you soon. Best regards,

We stayed at the Royal Livingstone for the first time, we’ve chosen it because for the good comments and advices too but definitely it was hit like any business by COVID! The menu poor and food not good, breakfast time it was amazing, rooms service deficient, we ask for ice twice and took more than one hour to get it Also we went for activities mid morning and complain at the reception about the geyser, the water was cold and when we came back at evening it wasn’t fix so I have to call the to come and fix it The service spa was superb, the masseuse were incredibly good! The suite and corner rooms incredibly lovely and the butler ok! We told them that we came to celebrate the birthday of my kids so they gave to each a chocolate mousse cake delish! I’ve hope when the world go back to normal life the hotel be back as it was excellent before

We arrived early for our stay and we were greeted very professionally by the lady at the front desk. Our check in was flawless and she kindly took us by the golf buggy to our room. There was a glitch with the door key card which eventually was sorted out by around 7 pm but a bit of a nuisance as we had to get house keeping to let us in during the day. The room was very good and spotless apart from mold in the shower, not a good sight especially when paying top dollar. The toilet felt loose on the wall, hope it doesn't fall off one day with a large person sitting on it The surroundings and décor are amazing and staff always cleaning and sweeping. I guess where we felt very let down was on the amount charged for firstly the room for the night particularly because we were on local rates. We had come up from a local luxury lodge out in the bush and decided to try this place for a comparison. One night was equivalent to five at the bush lodge which was amazing This is where it fall apart. Firstly the costs of bar fridge mini drinks, K195 for a nip bottle where down the road at the supermarket the same is K200 for a full bottle, I know paying more is usually acceptable but this is a total rip off. The other local hotels were very reasonable on the bar prices. We decided to have dinner at the hotel, again, for a bowl of pasta and stewed Lamb we paid K420 for something under local costs probably cost about K30 to prepare. A fillet steak at the previous lodge with fresh veg and fries was K145, and beautifully prepared. Desert was amazingly presented but totally insanely priced for us locals. There was no garden salad as they had no tomatoes and or lettuce, you only need to drive down the road to a local market or grocery shop for as much as you want to buy or need. Break fast was just awful, soggy microwaved bread basket, stale pork sausages and all piled up on a plate. The following night we stayed at a top hotel in Lusaka which was extremely comfy, very clean and way nicer, Breakfast was a fresh buffet and a far cry from the mush at the Livingstone. The cost for the night was also 25% of the cost of the night at the Livingstone and that was at their standard rates. If you are that desperate to be seen in very prestigious type surroundings but with no regard to value, then this is the place to be. I must say again though, the staff are extremely pleasant and obviously love their jobs but for value as in food and beverages, stay here if you want below average food and value for money. Would never step foot there again if ever passing through to the falls, over priced and not good value. Last year in top tourist spots in Venice and Slovenia for example, pure value for money in comparison
