This place is nice but it is only 5 star because it ticks the boxes needed for that. We had a nice stay but having stayed in many 5 star resorts I feel people must adjust there expectations not to be disappointed. The rooms are nice and comfortable. I loved that we could have adjoining rooms for the kids. This was perfect. The food was ok. I agree with other reviews on the teppanyaki - it is overpriced but the staff and service was lovely and it was a nice atmosphere in the place. What I don’t expect from a 5 star hotel is: 1) A very dirty pool. The pool is covered in a ‘fur’ of algae. If you run your fingers along the edge it is enough to turn your stomach. It has black mould all over it. It is extremely warm and I dread to think how many germs are in it. I have not seen this elsewhere in Vietnam. 2) There does not seem to be service at the pool. Menus everywhere but no one asking if you want a drink. The price is too high to have to go and fetch it yourself. Also you have to track down towels and covers for the beds yourself. On one occasion when I went to get a towel for my husband, the guy told me I did not need a towel as I already had 1. This seemed a bit rude considering I was collecting it myself. 3) The staff do not seem happy. Ok - some have been nice but most seem so grumpy which is so different from everywhere else we have experienced. 4) Breakfast is manic. They have several clean up stations in the middle of the restaurant, next to the tables where the staff very noisily collect dirty plates and cutlery. All you hear is clattering in the whole restaurant. Why can the plates not be taken to the kitchen? 5) The beach is nice but the approach to the beach is a bit of a mess. Concrete with rickety ladder to the beach level. There is an unsightly tap to rinse your feet, still in the sand so you get covered in sand immediately after rinsing. There is no drink service at the beach. In general this hotel is old, and showing it’s age. To maintain a 5 star feel it needs to up it’s game considerably. It is quite sad to see it not reach it’s full potential. That said, we had a nice time.

We had a great time in this resort. Spread over a huge area with a lovely swimming pool. The resort is bang on the beach with villas and gardens. They have a great resturant serving continental and vietnamese food which we tried n was very good. And another Japanese resturant also.Hoi An is about 10 mins by car. So they have a complimentary suttle sevice . The breakfast buffet was so good. We didnot get to enjoy the beach so much as there was a typhoon coming on that day and it was raining heavily. But I would surely be back soon. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for 6 nights after travelling down from the north of Vietnam, we had connecting rooms and were travelling with a 13 yr old who loved having his own room. The resort is great, lovely private beach with shallow waters and a big pool. The resort never seemed over busy and we could always find a lounger or table where we wanted. The on-site restaurants are great, especially the Japanese. There’s also a restaurant selling pizzas for when the kids need a break from noodles. Highly recommended

I read some of the previous “poor” reviews and surprised. We had a great experience here. Yes , we flagged a person to bring a drink - nonissue with that , beats waking to the bar. We saw a bug or two - no big deal The room was spacious and clean with an awesome a/c . We went out for the evening and upon our return the staff had put it on . The beach was clean and staff helpful for anyone wanting a pool chair moved. I can’t fault this place except for one thing The pool was way way too warm, however I don’t think there is much they can do with the temp never dipping below 28 at night

We have just stayed again at the Palm Gardens resort for the past nine days. This is our fourth stay with them and I am so happy to report everything is still as wonderful as ever. The staff are faultless and cannot do enough to make your stay memorable. The breakfast and restaurants are marvelous and very keenly priced. Special thanks to Mr Woo the lifeguard who is always happy and cheerful just like all of the staff. Thanks again for a great holiday and we will be back again soon.
