Our resort is the ideal base for exploring the Hoi An area, and especially the lifestyles of the Hoi An people. You will discover the simpleness and truthfulness that is in the hearts of local residents. This small historic town remains firmly anchored in the past, and proudly preserves its antique wooden buildings and quaint streets fronting onto a peaceful river scene. Hoi An people possess a graceful smile. Such a smile will balance all of your emotions, thus more and more visitors love to stay for some more days to be truly alive in Hoi An's lifestyle. Some friends that we know have lived here in the local community for tens of years. History has been viewed as having a nourishing effect on people's spiritual lives; therefore, there is no doubt that 'staying for some more days' has become a nice saying we often hear from visitors. The reasons were bowls of Quang noodles and 'Cao Lau'. Wide 'non la'. Paddy fields. Lines of coconuts. White stork families. Or is it because of local youngsters' bright white teeth? Or the blackened ones of aged ladies and gentlemen who have devoted their lives to their fatherland? In the murmuring songs here and there, there is the creaking sound of the hammock and the rhythmic chanting of the paddy seeds. It can also be the magic of the storks every afternoon, fluttering in the air and then landing onto slender coconut leaves like perching pieces of transparent silk on the line between heaven and earth.

When we travel, we normally do not indulge in the kind of luxury offered by this Ancient House resort, but we benefited from deeply discounted rates and thoroughly enjoyed everything it had to offer. Four our family of four (two adults and two young children), we had a huge room (normally 3 twin beds, converted to king + one twin) with two balconies. Super comfy, fluffy beds! We took advantage of the pool and of the shuttle to both downtown Hoi An and to An Bang beach (and private segment of the beach there). My kids were a bit too big for the playroom but I can see how it would be a great place to chill in the shade with a young child. We had to call the reception for assistance a couple of times, and they were responsive and helpful both times. Very good English was spoken, which was useful as my Vietnamese is very, very poor. There were bikes to borrow, including some kid-sized and another with a baby seat on the back, but we didn't get to enjoy them during our stay. Normally they offer various activities but everything was cancelled due to the coronavirus situation - totally understandable. I do take out a star due to the paucity of vegan or even vegetarian options at breakfast and on the menu generally speaking. When I asked a server about vegetarian options, she said: "The mushroom fried rice." That's it? I insisted and somehow they found tofu to substitute for beef in another dish. We had initially planned to stay at the resort most of the time, but ended up going to town to eat instead. At breakfast, the first morning had a couple of solid options, but the second day every single thing seemed to have animal product added to it (except perhaps the white bread), and fruit was running out. In the end, a manager ensured that a noodle dish was prepared for me, which was OK, but it shouldn't be rocket science to offer some non-meat, non-egg options at breakfast in such a nice hotel - especially one that offers yoga classes. I hope we get to return to Ancient House sometime, and that their food offering will have broadened by then. Thanks!

we stayed 2 weeks, much appreciating the beautiful garden, lit by lanterns at night, the excellent breakfasts with so much choice, the free shuttle bus taking us into Hoi An old town and to the beach( with towels provided and free sunbeds and parasols at the beach), the smiling and helpful staff, in particular Gana, Hahn, Dung and Trung. We will definitely return.

This was my 5th visit to Hoi An and The Hoi An Ancient House Village is hands down the best hotel I’ve stayed in so far. The rooms are spacious, with beautiful bath tubs and huge comfy beds, and they smell amazing! The location is perfect between the beach and the old town with shuttle buses to get you to and from both. The staff are wonderful, friendly and very willing to help with any query. It was a shame that the infinity pool was closed for us on the Sunday but the sunset pool is still beautiful. Breakfast is wonderful and the hotel grounds themselves are stunning. We will definitely be back and it’s a perfect place to take any guests.
