We have not long returned from a 9 night stay at the Hilton DoubleTree Marjan Island hotel. This was our 6th visit and once again was a magical stay.
From the very first moment that we arrived and were welcomed by the lovely Nickson from concierge we knew that we were returning to our "happy place"

We first visited in 2016 with children aged 8 and 10 and each time we have returned since the hotel still works wonderfully for us as a family, whilst of course the "children" now prefer the adults only pool to the waterpark !

All of the staff work extremely hard in all departments and are all very polite and friendly. The staff really are a credit to the hotel and its testament to the hotel to see so many familiar faces that have been working there for so many years.

This year we stayed in the Bay club rooms, which offer spectacular views of the sea and were very comfortable, large and most importantly very clean and well equipped! Mohamed Moneim you and your staff on reception do a wonderful job of welcoming everyone and ensuring from the moment we arrive we have a wonderful stay, thank you.

We have always booked through Bobby at Value Added travel and I can honestly say that they are fantastic and also offer the ultra all inclusive package as standard which allows you to eat from all of the restaurants which as a family is our preference.

Our son enjoyed the Spa with a relaxing massage. The Spa sales people are friendly and not overpowering atal. if you are not interested just tell them and they respectfully go away but if you are interested they are always friendly and helpful to arrange something special for you

The "Red sea" representative is always very helpful and friendly and whilst we didn't do an excursion this time, We have enjoyed them many times before!.

Personally we feel that this hotel offers excellent value for money, especially with the freedom to dine in all of the A la carte restaurants with the "ultra all inclusive package" Whilst it may not be the glamour of the top hotels of Dubai( its doesn't have that price tag either ) it certainly offers a fantastic hotel with the most amazing staff set in a beautiful beach front location.

We have always visited in October half term. The stunning location offers beautiful hot weather but the humidity is far less than the summer months ( in fact we felt the humidity drop in the first couple of days quite dramatically) I have read reviews that say that there are not enough sunbeds. I can honestly say that we have never experienced this atal and have always found plenty of availability, even when we have decided to change location throughout the day for a different view !

Each year we go we meet people that we have seen before as so many guests return year after year, to us, this speaks volumes!

Personally, we LOVE this hotel!!

First of all we were worried about some of the bad reviews before we went and hoped they were wrong. They were thankfully, the hotel is stunning. It covers a huge area on the island with just about everything you could wish for.
There were 7 of staying in 3 rooms with ages ranging from 9 to 56, so I can pretty speak for most visitors
If you’ve booked already you are going to have a wonderful time EXCEPT if you need west end shows every night as there aren’t any. There is entertainment though a very professional pianist plays old and new songs in the main lobby bar area. There isn’t an entertainment team doing shows every night. Now that’s the only downside over with , if you can live with own company in the evenings it’s not an issue, we played cards and chatted.
Moving on
If you’ve read some bad reviews let’s correct some and let’s include some handy information for you.
Firstly , it’s a 5* hotel, the tourist board says so after reviewing its facilities, saying it’s a 4 or 3 is pretty irrelevant and frankly silly. It’s probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Remember it’s a Hilton and not just a Hilton it’s a DoubleTree Hilton.
So let’s walk through the stay and facilities
The hotel is located 50 odd miles from the airport so an hour odd ride to the hotel along mostly duel carriageway. Check-in was smooth, but there is a government tax of 20 dirham (d) per room per night. It will be charged above your holiday costs at check in
Your bags will be collected and delivered to your room from the taxi outside.
THE ROOMS
Our room was on the 3rd floor and was large with a corridor with the en-suite carrying on into the main room. There is a king size bed and it fits easily into the room with enough space for another single easily. The patio doors leading to a balcony with the best views of the sea and pools. There is 2 chairs and a table on the balcony too.
The bed is firm and the pillows very soft.
We arrived very late so bed straight after a quick drink at the bar
THE BARS
ALL BARS are all inclusive from 10am until midnight , between 10am and 12pm only fresh juices and bottled water is available NO alcohol. Then from 12pm to midnight alcohol is available on all inclusive.
Stay all inclusive! Not half board unless you don’t drink alcohol! A bottle of Prosecco is 300d , we asked !
The beer is Amstel lager and provided in pint cans, plastic glasses are given for outside drinking and pint glasses (glass) indoors
There’s local spirits which is NOT watered down and white, red and rose wine , all of which were tasty, not sharp
THE FOOD
All inclusive guests can eat in 2 restaurants free, that’s the main buffet restaurant or the brassiere (at lunch only)
You can visit any other of the on-site restaurants for a charge but each person will get a 60d discount (kids 30d) off the bill. Drinks are all inclusive in every restaurant. We didn’t visit any of them as the main buffet was excellent quality providing a good array of food and vegetarian options too.
If you’ve been all inclusive before you’ll know what to expect. I did consider this hotels food better tasting than others I’ve been to and hummus and the berry sauce exceptional. The breads are gorgeous too.
Don’t expect pork sausages or bacon in a Muslim country - it’s there but made of chicken or turkey and we loved the change.
There is no snack bar as such, but you can order snacks from a menu from the pool bars and it’s brought out to you in takeaway boxes, this is chargeable BUT if you are all inclusive the 60d per person discount applies , since most food is under 60d , it’s FREE
THE POOLS AND SEA
there are 7 swimming pools , adults only(enforced), family, child’s, floating sea pool, chalet pool, infinity pool and indoor pool, all of which are huge and if that’s not enough there’s a massive sea to go into, in august it was hot tub hot !
All pools have lifeguards that take it seriously, do something stupid or against the rules you WILL be told off via whistle - no bombing, diving, climbing on bridges, squirting people you don’t know, drinking in the pool, - heaven ! Just left alone to play nicely with your family.
The indoor pool wasn’t to our taste and we left within minutes, it’s air con , not nice when soaking wet IMO
Big brown towels are provided via a plastic card swap system
GENERAL
The staff are brilliant, very friendly and efficient, restaurant staff are attentive without being overbearing, house keepers are brilliant and clean the rooms every day without fail. If your room isn’t cleaned for whatever reason dial 0 on the room phone and ask for it to be.

I’ve tried to be as useful as possible with this review, happy to answer anything you want in the future. If you’ve found it useful give me a useful vote

Our experience from the very start was absolutely amazing

Upon arrival our first encounter of exceptional customer service was with Nicholson the lobby porter, this man greeted us by name remembered our room location without being prompted while driving us to our room on more than one occasion on the buggy carts during our 10 day stay.

Asif the breakfast manager was amazing so attentive competent and made us feel special! Each and every morning he went over and beyond to make us feel welcome and well looked after! Thank you asif

Anthony - the broad walk pool bar staff another member of the team that we would like to thank who went over and beyond to ensure we were well looked after each and every day

Dev - restaurant manager who went over and beyond to meet ANY of my family’s needs he provided top class customer service made us feel special each and every day.

Hashini the lady chef who made the eggs on request for breakfast was especially kind considerate and amazing not to mention her cooking was delicious! Our 3 year old loved the eggs as did we all.

Sumyat the waitress at the Vespa restaurant was excellent at her job my wife wanted to bring her home 😂 she was friendly and went over and beyond for us each and every time she served us:

Mous, Sara the entertainers for the kids mini disco and daily amusements were a big hit with our children amazing staff great personalities and a credit to the team!!

Adam the excursion provider another amazing member of staff extremely knowledgeable of Dubai he has great packages on offer and provided us with a personal waterpark package to the Atlantis with a designated driver all day 12 hour service complete with a tour of Dubai finishing at the mall, to say my children absolutely loved it was an understatement amazing experience Adam thank you

Our room was cleaned each day by a male member of staff who sadly we never got his name but he also made sure the room was spotless he made towel animals each day something different was made my children loved this touch along with rose petals. He was so kind and helpful any time my wife needed anything in regards to to room he went over and beyond every single day our room number 2814 from the 20th of December to 30th please can this cleaner be recognised.

Overall the experience was completely outstanding it was our first Christmas abroad as a family and the staff at the hotel went over and beyond in every aspect, I have had to mention a few specific staff that made our experience a memorable one. The quality and cleanliness of the hotel was 10-10 from the customer service, the food, the pools, activities, restaurants, children’s onsite water park, we would highly recommend this hotel, amazing - Thank you

Review of Double tree Hilton Marjan Island Hotel. The hotel has the main advantages in my opinion is 1 location of buildings with Bayclub rooms and 2 super polite hotel employees. We would like to commend a receptionist named Amelia (Amelia), a polite and professional girl offered simply the best available Bayclub room in the case number 4.1.1. It is close to the Bayclub restaurant, the round pool, the beach, as well as to the side where the children's pool and playground are located. Amelia is the face of the hotel , speaks English well and also practices in Russian.
The beach is long, all guests have enough sunbeds on the pools and by the sea. The entrance to the sea is gentle (gradual entrance to the sea) sand is light and soft. On the beach there are offers for sports recreation (boating, catamaran , fishing, etc.), there are slides for both adults and teenagers. On the slide, two rescue instructors are looking after order and order, safety.
On the beach and near the pool bars with drinks from the offers are all inclusive and ultra all inclusive (expensive branded alcoholic beverages). Example of prices 35 dirhams a bottle of beer.
The main restaurants are open for all on in Breakfast mode 7:00-11:00, lunch 12:30-15:00, dinner 18:00-22:00, later dinner 23:30-02:00. A+ breakfast, lunch and dinner each time different main courses, salad desserts and appetizers are repeated. Cleaning rooms is better if you add a tip, but that's the only way I thought it would be. Optionally (free of charge) you can ask for a shaving kit, toothbrush and paste. Feedback from request to execution up to 5-8 minutes. You don't have to wait twice.
I recommend you take rooms at Bayclub if possible. There are three elevators in the main building, but 2 of them were mainly operational. Part of the lobby is on renovation. Sometimes waiting up to 3 minutes for an elevator. In addition, after hot weather outside, getting through the lobby where the air conditioning is actively running is not exactly cozy. At Bayclub beach access 1st floor can be accessed directly from the beach to the room, also its own lifts in the bay club buildings. I'll try to enclose the prices in the paid restaurants. To make it easier to choose breakfast-based or all-inclusive.

Honest review from a family of 4 who regularly travel to Dubai.

Hotel itself and staff are brilliant. Reception and restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful. Cleaning of the rooms was below expectation and we regularly had to request more toilet roll and towels as they seemed to cater for 2 people when in fact we were 4. Example of cleaning not up to standard was our youngest child got a chocolate mark on the pillow day 1 and this was still there after our weeks stay which showed sheets were not changed. Minor issue but we expected more.

We were standard all inclusive which worked well for us. We were offered the upgrade when checking in for £1800 for the 7 days. We chose to not upgrade as we did not feel we would have spent this amount by eating at the Al la carte restaurants alone as we wouldn’t have been drinking alcohol and fizzy drinks before midday or after midnight. For example we as a family of four ate out at the meze ordering 7 starters and 4 adult mains, after the supplement was taken into account this meal cost around £80.

The reason we would not go back to this hotel is because for us this stay did not represent the standards that you expect from a trip to Dubai. It very much felt like we were at a resort in Turkey/ Benidorm. For us, we like to dress up for dinner, relax as a family of an evening and recharge from the day to day life back home. There were grown men in football tops at dinner and women wearing hot pant style shorts, “entertainment” was a game of bingo followed by karaoke (a young child rapping to Eminem about his dad not being there and swearing!) and having to get up at 6.30am to put a towel down by the pool otherwise you were banished to the beach.

Again, this wasn’t a terrible holiday and we did enjoy certain elements but it was not for us. If you travel to the UAE regularly and are aware of the standards of other hotels/ guests I would avoid here. The price of this trip was cheaper than an equivalent stay in Europe and this was definitely reflected in the standard. We were booked for 10 days but chose to stay for only 7 and move for the last 3 days.

It is not a 5 star hotel. Call it a 3 star and I’d agree. Booked 6 months earlier and as a family of 5 with 2 rooms I’d expect inter connecting or next door we weren’t even on the same floors. An alarm went off in the next door every morning at 9 for 3 hours I phoned 3 mornings to report this by day 4 we gave up and got up. We thought we were all inclusive but apparently there is now ultra all inclusive so if you want a coffee at 9 forget it. My daughter 16 had to sleep on a sofa we called the rock. If you want a meal in the restaurants forget it. You get 60 aed a day but after asking 8 members of staff they didn’t know if it was for lunch or dinner or both. Next year will you be offering an ultra ultra all inclusive??? Water park offered - was shut. Water trampoline in the sea was 2 foot big. Entertainment zero. Water slides in the sea only one open. The only good thing about this place was the lovely staff. We also had the pleasure of 300 men in their underpants washing themselves in the pool. In the buffet restaurant no utensils were used to get the food it was hands only. And my son got thrown out the restaurant for a slightly damp top!!! The construction work is 24/7 but this is irrelevant to what’s happening around you! I’ve stayed at the Rixos several times next door which I’d recommend and also the 4 star Hilton near by which is advertised correctly and would stay there again. Here never. Ever.

Hotel Review
Upon arrival we realized that there are no Russian speakers at the reception, so if there is a language barrier stock up on Google interpreter.
Drove to the Hilton on the Rio World Wide Web experience and very much missed.
I will tell you right away in Turkey I have not been so I do not have a comparison with Turkey on the system.
Many Russians who came here realized that it was far from all inclusive.
The first, and perhaps most important, is not to spend evenings at dinner beautifully and variedly.
There are no all-inclusive restaurants in the system.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner take place in one single restaurant.
Every day it's the same, with a little variation on the menu.
You won't stay hungry but there are no gastronomic delights.
No tomato juice, for example, but no. ...no in all inclusive, so yes $4.
There are no time-regulated snacks between meals. There are no snack bars, nothing that is if you have slept through the time at which the restaurant operates ,there is nothing free anywhere you will find.
Bars have nothing to eat,no chips,no nuts,no pancakes.Naked alcohol.Serves alcohol from day 12.Beer in a bottle is paid for example.Free only in a can.
There's a snack late after dinner,there are 4 courses.Nothing else.
First time I saw so many people in a hotel with bags, containers ,because people were typing for snacks and for a basic snack of alcohol, also so that the kids would not be left hungry between the opening hours of the restaurant.
Nutritionally everything is normal, rice, beans, meat ,fish fried and steamed, etc.
There's nothing for fast food lovers.
No fries, no patties, no burgers.
There are no red fish salted, white fish.
There is no seafood.
Not that there are no lobsters)))), there are no banal squid even ,mussels ,shrimp nothing.
Wine all bagged, bottled for money.
The swimming pool is warm there is infinity, but there are so many children, so many people that it is practically impossible to push. There is also a couple Russian and Turkish, went enjoyed.
On arrival take tourist tax 20 dirhams per 1 night, give without change dollars or dirhams, otherwise on departure in the early morning they have no money to give change, run looking for all the hotel.
Currency exchange for reception is available but from 1 p.m.
Rooms are cleaned tolerably, but do not try.Sockets work only 2 in the room, adapter is not needed everywhere stick Russian,on TV 4 of our channels is present.
There is no bar in the pool at the hotel. In principle the pools are small.Swimming in the bay in December is cold, swimming is small, evenings are cold, people walk in hoodies,in spring jackets.Only the sun has disappeared cold

I've given this 3 stars but if i could i would give it 3 1/2. This is our 5th time to Dubai and the first to this hilton. The room we had was nice and big (there were 4 of us with 2 kids aged 8 and 12) and the houskeeping staff kept it nice and clean. All the staff were friendly but seemed a bit rushed (although a special shoutout to the pool bar team who were excellent). The pools were nice but it was very busy! The adult pool was really nice and chilled. We went with the ultra all inclusive package which meant awe could eat at the a la carte restaurants, but i found the quality of these restaurants very inconsistent. Sanchaya was undoubtably the star of the show and the food and ambiance was terrific. The food at the pool was also always good. Vesper the itallian was decent, but i found the brasserie and Mezze restaurants a bit meh! At the brasserie the food I had (both the beef cheek and Steak) was really fatty. When i mentioned the creme brulee was curdled i was told by the manager It was not, which was disappointing as i know my puddings! You also need to book the restaurants many days in advance as they are small and you can only stay for 90 minutes so sometimes felt a bit rushed. The buffet breakfast was nice with lots of choice. The inflatable sea slide was broken, and the other sea slides were covered in barnacles which caused my daughters to scratch their legs. They did enjoy the small water park and spent alot of time in there. Nightime entertainment was sparse, and the kids could not stay in the pub after 10pm so we often went to the 9th floor bar, where it was hard to get a seat. The need to sort the glasseware out in this bar as we were often drinking out of paper cups or latte glasses. Also sometimes we were allowed to take drinks back to the room and other times we were told we could not, which was annoying and caused confusion. All in all it was ok and it was relaxing, but i do not consider this a 5 star hotel based on my other experiences in Dubai.

Flew in from Edinburgh in the morning, and check-in from 3.00pm Offered to wait for 5. It's a flaw in the TUI and the hotel. Truth is, after 2 hours the room was ready. In the first two days they cleaned before we arrived, before 3.00 pm Today on January 31 the room is still not cleaned, and yesterday they offered to clean at 5.00 pm, when we were in the room and departing. Why ask us about cleaning times? The Meze restaurant doesn't know how to make a meze like a dish. They advised the manager to remove this dish from the menu or send the chef to learn how to cook it. The sea is great, the beach is great.

The hotel grounds are beautiful, very spacious, clean and well-kept. Family rooms are large, thoroughly cleaned and ensure maximum comfort. The hotel has a beautiful scent, fresh flowers and luxurious decor. Lots of deckchairs, seats, water cushions, gazebos, etc. Several swimming pools and two large dining rooms, so you never feel too crowded and everyone will find a place for themselves. The hotel staff was very nice at every stage, from the cleaning ladies to the reception and restaurant staff, lifeguards at the swimming pools and bar staff.
However, there is a big minus of this hotel that does not fit the 5-star rating that this hotel most deserves, and it is the FOOD... a great pity because it is a big part of a successful trip. The food was monotonous and simply not tasty. The children's food corner is really a big mistake. Such stands usually have tomato soup, fries, hot dogs, pizza, nuggets - whatever the children eat. Here they offer vegetable soup or sausages in cheese sauce... few children even ate it.
Another big problem is the hidden snack bar. The staff literally does everything to make sure no one knows about it or uses it. After much investigation, when I found out where in the bar you can order such snacks, everyone was dissatisfied and it turned out that you can do it only once for the equivalent of 60ADE, after exceeding the amount you have to pay for the meal. This is not a true all-inclusive option - it is three meals - you can only enter each meal once, plus once a day to the limited Wkoty snack bar and once for an hour from 3 to 4 p.m. ice cream for children. It is a bit inappropriate for a 5-star hotel and does not correspond to similar hotels, for example in Europe
