Hotel's Favorite
First of all we were worried about some of the bad reviews before we went and hoped they were wrong. They were thankfully, the hotel is stunning. It covers a huge area on the island with just about everything you could wish for.
There were 7 of staying in 3 rooms with ages ranging from 9 to 56, so I can pretty speak for most visitors
If you’ve booked already you are going to have a wonderful time EXCEPT if you need west end shows every night as there aren’t any. There is entertainment though a very professional pianist plays old and new songs in the main lobby bar area. There isn’t an entertainment team doing shows every night. Now that’s the only downside over with , if you can live with own company in the evenings it’s not an issue, we played cards and chatted.
Moving on
If you’ve read some bad reviews let’s correct some and let’s include some handy information for you.
Firstly , it’s a 5* hotel, the tourist board says so after reviewing its facilities, saying it’s a 4 or 3 is pretty irrelevant and frankly silly. It’s probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Remember it’s a Hilton and not just a Hilton it’s a DoubleTree Hilton.
So let’s walk through the stay and facilities
The hotel is located 50 odd miles from the airport so an hour odd ride to the hotel along mostly duel carriageway. Check-in was smooth, but there is a government tax of 20 dirham (d) per room per night. It will be charged above your holiday costs at check in
Your bags will be collected and delivered to your room from the taxi outside.
THE ROOMS
Our room was on the 3rd floor and was large with a corridor with the en-suite carrying on into the main room. There is a king size bed and it fits easily into the room with enough space for another single easily. The patio doors leading to a balcony with the best views of the sea and pools. There is 2 chairs and a table on the balcony too.
The bed is firm and the pillows very soft.
We arrived very late so bed straight after a quick drink at the bar
THE BARS
ALL BARS are all inclusive from 10am until midnight , between 10am and 12pm only fresh juices and bottled water is available NO alcohol. Then from 12pm to midnight alcohol is available on all inclusive.
Stay all inclusive! Not half board unless you don’t drink alcohol! A bottle of Prosecco is 300d , we asked !
The beer is Amstel lager and provided in pint cans, plastic glasses are given for outside drinking and pint glasses (glass) indoors
There’s local spirits which is NOT watered down and white, red and rose wine , all of which were tasty, not sharp
THE FOOD
All inclusive guests can eat in 2 restaurants free, that’s the main buffet restaurant or the brassiere (at lunch only)
You can visit any other of the on-site restaurants for a charge but each person will get a 60d discount (kids 30d) off the bill. Drinks are all inclusive in every restaurant. We didn’t visit any of them as the main buffet was excellent quality providing a good array of food and vegetarian options too.
If you’ve been all inclusive before you’ll know what to expect. I did consider this hotels food better tasting than others I’ve been to and hummus and the berry sauce exceptional. The breads are gorgeous too.
Don’t expect pork sausages or bacon in a Muslim country - it’s there but made of chicken or turkey and we loved the change.
There is no snack bar as such, but you can order snacks from a menu from the pool bars and it’s brought out to you in takeaway boxes, this is chargeable BUT if you are all inclusive the 60d per person discount applies , since most food is under 60d , it’s FREE
THE POOLS AND SEA
there are 7 swimming pools , adults only(enforced), family, child’s, floating sea pool, chalet pool, infinity pool and indoor pool, all of which are huge and if that’s not enough there’s a massive sea to go into, in august it was hot tub hot !
All pools have lifeguards that take it seriously, do something stupid or against the rules you WILL be told off via whistle - no bombing, diving, climbing on bridges, squirting people you don’t know, drinking in the pool, - heaven ! Just left alone to play nicely with your family.
The indoor pool wasn’t to our taste and we left within minutes, it’s air con , not nice when soaking wet IMO
Big brown towels are provided via a plastic card swap system
GENERAL
The staff are brilliant, very friendly and efficient, restaurant staff are attentive without being overbearing, house keepers are brilliant and clean the rooms every day without fail. If your room isn’t cleaned for whatever reason dial 0 on the room phone and ask for it to be.
I’ve tried to be as useful as possible with this review, happy to answer anything you want in the future. If you’ve found it useful give me a useful vote

A great large hotel complex with plenty of space to stay in the whole vacation. There were many different activities for all ages in the hotel area. Service was absolutely friendly everywhere. Despite of the large size of the hotel, service never disappointed. There were enough personnel to take care of the guests. Room service was a daily basis and room was taken care extremely well - even your charger cords were put nicely on the table. Bottled water as well washing agent included. Full service or all inclusive is recommended - drinks are super expensive without full / all incl. service. All in all hotel was quite peaceful and quiet. Mostly because it is located on an own bay surrounded by the sea and therefore also a safe and secure to hang around the hotel area.
There were several pool areas that were not too crowded and sun deck chairs no need to reserve in advance - there were always free chairs on the beach or by the pool. Several pools were heated and super warm, which got kids to spend the whole day in the pool. Beach is super child friendly hardly no waves, nor deep water near the shoreline.
Food was served in the main restaurant, in which it was divided into two main areas with own buffets and one adult area. The main area nearest to the main building was quite noisy, but the Bay Club restaurant was nice and a bit more quiet. Kids has own buffet, unfortunately it was quite small with only few options.
Taxi station, a hang around area with huge playground & pedal car rental service are located right in front of the hotel area. Salespersons of the local beauty salon & adventure agent were a bit too eager to get a deal and they literally guarded us for the first couple of days of our vacation.
All in all the tidiness not only in the hotel, but also in the public places surprised us totally.

Booked both flight and hotel through BA, all inclusive. Transfer both to and from the airport organised and on time. Check in / out good no problems. Room was very clean and towels changed very day and you can request bed sheets to be changed daily if required. They have an adults only pool and restaurant which is great if you dont want kids running about, it was pretty quiet when we went which was just after half term school break in February, weather was perfect not too hot or humid, great time to get away from the UK for some winter sun. Plently of sundbeds both around all the pools and on the beach. Breakfast/lunch and dinner in the all inclusive was buffet style and each night they have a theme night. Having read some reviews before I went regarding the food and service, I was a little concerned, however I found the staff to be friendly and service was good and the food was great, I have no complaints about the standard of food and the variety. All inclusive included beer/wine and cocktails, this was the only thing that I felt wasnt 5* standard, there was limited cocktails and the ones they did offer werent all that good, staff didnt really know how to make a proper cocktail and I think some were pre-made, this is just a minor detail though as the food was very good. There is also a spa here, beware of their staff coming around every day asking if you would like any spa treatments, once you've made it very clear your not interested they will leave you alone. We didn't have any treatments so cant comment on the spa, we made use of the small gym they have there. We had a sea view room on the 5th floor, very quiet at night, slept very well. The entertainment in the evening is one lady singing and another playing the sax, pretty much the same set every night, they were ok, personally I wasnt bothered about entertainment in the evening, although for some thats important, they have a kids club and separate play area, but again its far enough out the way if you dont have kids and certainly wasnt a problem for us. Overall a lovely week away in the sun and plenty to eat and drink at a resonable price, we didn't spend any money all week other than tipping a lovely lifeguard called Ram who made sure we had the same spot by the pool each day and make sure our towels were on the sunbeds. Would recommend this hotel and the all inclusive package if your looking for a holiday in the sun and really just want to relax and do nothing, there are spot activities and excursions, however these are at an extra cost.

I made a last minute booking on a third party website for our Anniversary (2 days and 1 night stay, half board). Our special day was last Friday (9th October) and I just made the booking on 8th October so I called the hotel to confirmed my booking and to make a short notice special request for our special day like (cake, bedding arrangement) etc. Ms. Janet (booking & reservation) who is very kind assured me that my request will be noted. Well done Ms. Janet for taking care of this.
Even that there’s a (Covid) the Hotel is very much full plus it’s a weekend, Amazingly the Hotel handles it very well. Before you enter the hotel your temperature will be check in the gate and there are Marshalls in the lobby who will assist you and make sure that guests wears mask and follow social distancing, (the hotel staff will let you feel that you are safe while staying in the hotel).
Upon check-in I was assisted by Waleed of (Check-In Counter) and told him If he can arrange an early check-in and of course to give us a lovely location of our room because it’s our special day. We are so delighted to see that we had the best location of our room and as per my request they set up something special to our room even though on their website it mentioned that special request should be done 24 hours before, but still the Hotel didn’t disappoint me. Applause for Mr. Waleed and also to Housekeeping for making this possible.
I also would like to commend the staff in the swimming pool area who gives beach towel, when that time that they run out of towels as promised by the staff (I forgot his name) he will bring the towel to us as expected less than 5 minutes we got our towels already.
For our dining experienced (Al Marjan Restaurant) we are lucky that Djosa who is very friendly, jolly and polite who assisted us in our table, she makes sure that we are being taking care of the hotel servers. A big thanks to you guys.
Downside Comment:
( I thought that half board meal that I purchased means our drinks is free for our dinner buffet but as per my package it’s excluded.)
This is the first time again after the lockdown/curfew that we get out of Dubai to experienced a long drive to RAK for a weekend staycation and overall we had an awesome and wonderful 11th year Anniversary experienced. Thanks to all staff of Double Tree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island for making this Memorable to US. We would definitely visit again and next time we will stay longer.

Me and my husband, have just returned from a week at the Doubletree, we were a bit apprehensive, based on some of the reviews also that we were a Afro Caribbean couple and not sure how we would be recieve not only at the hotel but Dubai in general, well any fears we may have had were very quickly dashed. Dubai and the hotel is fully multicultural, and very welcoming.
I have based my review of the hotel on our experience
Check in.. We arrived at the hotel from a early morning 10am flight, we had asked for a early check in prior to arrival, although our room was not yet ready, we we told by the very nice receptionist Zeyana (who was a real help to us throughout our stay) to relax, have a drink etc and she would ensure that our room was available as quickly as possible, which she truly did, even ensuring that we were comfortable whilst we waited which was just over an hr later, our luggage was quickly sent to our room once we entered.
Room... We had a sea view room, which was lovely, I agree with some of the reviews in that the rooms are in need of updating, and look a bit tired, but it was spotlessly clean and our cleaner Janessa kept it so, attention to detail was faultless.
Food/Drink .. again very good, we had the be all inclusive, which meant we could have unlimited alcohol from 12-3am, (many thanks to Hennay and Faroj,) we could use the other restaurants on site, but in truth we just used the main restaurant, really appreciated the long opening hrs, we are not early eaters especially on holiday, the food was varied and you could always find something you would like, also it was a bit difficult to get booked into the restaurants on times/days you required.
Amenities/hotel... well this is where the hotel excels itself the staff work very hard to maintain the spotless grounds/beach/hotel, the Spa was lovely and I visited it a few times very relaxing, the infinity pool was under refurbishment when we were there which we were aware of, but the other pools were lovely although the water was cold, sun beds never an issue there were loads, though from our balcony we could
still see people putting towels on sunbeds at 7am, why???
The only downside I would say about the hotel is that more evening adult entertainment is needed, seems to be lots for kids, and we were grateful for the adults only area, dinning, pools etc, but there was very limited evening entertainment, although the Fire show, was good and Mario and his team mixed and mingled with the
guests, also doing exercise classes.Beach is lovely, with lots of water sports to try.
I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel, although it's not central you can get around fairly easily, by use of a taxi, which is quite cheap
also hotel do a courtesy bus to the mall.
Me and my husband would like to say a big thank you to the hotel and the staff, there is too many to name all, we had a lovely holiday and will be returning in July to celebrate my husband 50th Birthday.
Ps. UK plugs sockets, kettle, iron and ironing board, hair dryer in room

Me and my husband would like to say a big thank you to the hotel and the staff, there is too many to name all, we had a lovely holiday and will be returning in July to celebrate my husband 50th Birthday.
Ps. UK plugs sockets, kettle, iron and ironing board, hair dryer in room

We went to Double Tree Resort on 23rd august with my husband and little daughter and intended to stay for three nights but the general atmosphere, security and cleaning standards and staff service was so bad that we decided to cancel after only one night and go back home.
To start with, because it was bank holiday, it took us nearly one hour to check in; the worst of this being the lack of security measures: no security distancing, people sitting on floors without masks and the hotel staff did not seem to care about this.
Cleaning standards were below zero: we had a deluxe room and as we entered the room, first thing that shook us was a very bad smell coming from the bathroom, not to mention the spots of dirt in the furniture and floors. I called reception to request a cleaner and a bucket of ice. The cleaner never came even though I called again 3 other times and the bucket of ice, as well as wine glasses and extra bed for my daughter were all chargeable, which is a new for me in a (allegedly) five start hotel.
Corridors were packed with dirty laundry and rests of food from the rooms.
The pool was dirty (full of hair and water was not clean); the sunbeds are dirty and old and there were no towels available.
After all of this, I asked to speak to a manager to see if we could at least get a cleaner for our bedroom as the smell in the bathroom was very bad but never got a response unfortunately
We finally decided to cancel the booking, so the next day, after queuing for 40 minutes for breakfast, the person in reception said he had to contact the manager
and I guess this same manager that never answered my calls said we had to pay for the full stay !!! Luckily, I had booked through an app and they had sent me an email confirming that only one night was chargeable.
So, all in all, I would recommend to avoid this hotel if you have a minimum of expectations about a five star hotel

Dear veronicag960, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on your stay with us. It is disappointing to see that you were not able to have an enjoyable time, especially with the overall cleanliness of the room as well as the delays in service. This is definitely not what we take pride in. We do try our best to maintain the social distancing rules among our guests, with a team in place and with the ma y signage placed around the resort. We are looking into alternatives to ensure that this is adhered to. I have also reiterated to the team to ensure that all rooms are thoroughly cleaned and checked prior to handing them over to our guests especially with this current situation that we are facing. Once again, thank you for sharing and please stay safe! With kind regards, Pieter Van Beugen Hotel Manager

We booked an All Inclusive night at Doubletree last weekend. The weather was grey and wet for the region, but we just wanted a couple of days away from the hustle and bustle.
Arriving earlier than expected, our room wasn't ready yet, but the lovely young lady at reception upgraded us to a better one which was - so that set our weekend off to a great start!
The room was very well appointed and had a cosy balcony, looking out over a quiet bit of the beach and with high side walls so it was both sheltered and secluded.
The spotless bathroom had a tray of Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries and a lovely long bath which I treated myself to an hour in with a good book - a guilty treat indeed in these days of being careful with how much water we use!
The bed was extremely comfortable.
We only ate in the All Inclusive buffet, so can't speak for the other restaurants. The food in the AI buffet was perfectly adequate, the drinks plentiful and the service excellent. It was great to have an adults-only section too!
The All Inclusive package runs from midday til midnight, with breakfast, lunch and dinner in the buffet. We were very pleased not to see any plastic straws in our drinks without our having to explain why we didn't want any. We wish more hotels/bars/restaurants would stop automatically putting them in drinks.
Unfortunately, because of the rain, the bar was letting people smoke shisha inside the bar as it was too wet for them outside. That was the only bad thing as I suffer with asthma, plus we don't like the smell, but that was the only small thing in what was a very nice, relaxing weekend.
We will definitely be booking Doubletree again, hopefully for a bit longer next time!

We went as a family to tour UAE for the first time and stayed at this hotel. We enjoyed every single second of our stay with the hotel and the only word that can discribe our happiness is that we were completely satisfied. We usually spent our days in the boardwalk pool bar enjoying the sun light although it was just little compared to what we had heard about, the staffs of this pool bar were the example of complete talent,
especially the two waiters named Anup and Vikas, who always had jolliness on their faces. The water of the pool was kind of chilled so we preffered to be dry. The food served in the Al Marjan restaurant was fairly good, and had a lots of variety to choose from, and the best part of this restaurant was the hard working waiters that were perfectly professional, a shout out to all of them for making our meals so memorable. And as we were staying in the main building the closest bar to us was the lobby bar that was completely filled with liveliness in the evenings, David is the funny guy who will make you laugh with his sense of humor and is totally perfect with his service, we will love to go back and visit him again. As this bar works for 24 hours, during the nights Vincent is the bartender as well as the waiter working there, some of the best drinks we had were made by him and served with complete professionalism. The room attendents on the 3rd floor always kept our rooms neat and tidy, and the guy named Saprem from housekeeping did a wonderful job, there was also a girl working on the same floor but never got a chance to talk to her as she was assigned with different rooms. Sometimes the spa guys felt annoying for disturbing us, but gradually they stopped. Overall had a great experience in the hotel except some minor mistakes but hope to be back again to this hotel next year to meet the same people and with better improvements next year.

We managed a 5 night break before Christmas 2020 when the UK travel corridor included Dubai.
From the second we arrived until when we left we received nothing but warm friendly service. The staff worked hard in the bars restaurants and poolside, always with a smile.
Myself, 9yr and 6yr stayed in a bay suite with two huge beds and very generous sofa bed, table and chairs large flat screen TV (BBC news was only English channel but we don't really watch TV when were away so didn't bother us). Generous balcony overlooking the sea which was very relaxing, we also caught the sunrise on our last day. The bathroom was huge with separate bath and shower, couple of sinks and bidet.
The resort was spotless with the gardeners subtly busily working to maintain the plants and flowers.
Great restaurants on resort, buffet had great variety of foods suiting everyone with fresh fruit and salad every day, waffles, pancakes omelettes etc at breakfast along with every pastry on the planet! Freshly made pizza and pasta daily along with slow pulled beef, king prawn kebabs calamari etc. In the evenings there was a good selection of sweet treats and ice cream.
The water park was great for the under 10's, a trampoline out to sea which my son loved along with a little water park on the beach which had a rope swing you could swing and drop into the water. There was an infinity pool, adult only pool, baby pool and main pool where aqua aerobics was an entertaining daily occurrence!
There was a kids club with a varied programme but we didn't use it because my kids made so many friends around the pool they were really happy. Water sports were also available (extra charge) but we didn't use them. The beach was clean, lots of sunbeds, sun huts and umbrellas and was a nice walk when the sun was going down. The pool bars, beach bars etc had good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
We truly had a great time, they are very hot on hand sanitizing, cleanliness and made sure adults and children wore masks in communal areas. We honestly were able to feel 'normal' and have a break from a very busy life at home.
This area is a good 45 minutes from the airport and all the big Dubai attractions so factor that in if you want to make visits to some of the iconic tourist sights. The weather was 27 most days, so lovely for December and definitely a welcome break from the miserable wet weather in the UK!

+1
Have stayed at Doubletree Marjan Island several times and I have to say the hotel represents excellent value and is a very pleasant and relaxing beach resort. The hotel is clearly well managed and kept spotlessly clean. An army of staff is active early each morning washing and scrubbing all the outdoor areas including all chairs and sun loungers.
The rooms are perhaps a little dated in design, although the Bay Club rooms are huge and well appointed, with beautiful bathrooms, Nespresso machines, separate lounge areas and large balconies / terraces. The garden areas are lush and well tended and the beach very clean, with plenty of sun-loungers.
The breakfast is served in Al Marjan where you can sit outside beside the pool area. Service is excellent and the area is kept spotless with tables cleared very efficiently. The breakfast is now an assisted buffet, with a decent range of Arabic and Western dishes.
Half board is great value and can be upgraded for 60-80 dirhams to allow dining at one of the hotel's a la carte restaurants, of which Samchaya (South East Asian) is my favourite.
All staff I encountered were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Despite this being a large 800 room resort hotel, you are made to feel valued and welcome. Probably my favourite hotel in Ras Al Khaimah. Recommended.
