Detailed Reviews
Like most of the other guest houses in Entebbe - this is most probably a big house converted into a guest house. And they have done it quite well! With rooms in the main building, and two annexes (the last one being the best with an additional floor with great views of Lake Victoria), this is a small guest house with about 14 rooms.
Wake up with the noisy chit chat of the sunbirds, the wails of the Hadada Ibis and the short exclamations of the Plaintain eaters and retire for the night with a carpet of flowers on the paths. As good as it gets - a perfect start for your Holiday in Uganda.
Service is great! Jessica does a thoroughly professional job of managing the place - everything is in its place and does justice to the price paid.
Food is lovely as well (surprisingly!). Note there are no ACs (I suppose the Entebbe weather is good enough to do with a fan)
Had a great time!

We did a 2 week tour of Uganda for our delayed honeymoon. We had to make some adjustments to our plans because of changing COVID-19 restrictions, and adding a day at the end of the trip to allow for time to process our COVID test was one of those changes. We had our test and then headed to the Papyrus lodge to spend a day and a half in this garden retreat. Our whole trip, we did not encounter many guests at any of the lodges we stayed at, but the attention we received from the people at Papyrus made us feel like we were the most important guests they'd had. They made the last couple days of our honeymoon special in a different, relaxing, way. The hotel is a nice garden retreat just 15 minutes form the airport. Rooms are comfortable, the outdoor spaces are beautiful. Matthew helped us check in, and was on call the entire time we were in the hotel. He served us all our meals, all of which were delicious, and tried to fulfill our requests. For our second dinner, we asked is dessert was an option, and he asked if we liked bananas and said he would talk to the chef about coming up with something. We were surprised by these delicious caramel, cinnamon, banana pancake dessert! They ensured we had transportation ready to go to the airport on the day of our flight, and explained all the security check points and steps along the way. Since we were supposed to be in isolation after our COVID test, we did not take advantage of the proximity to the botanical gardens or lake Victoria, but Matthew talked to us about those options, and we will be sure to check them out when we come back!

We stayed twice 2 nights before touring and 3 nights after. We found the staff to be extremely helpful. Gift with his amazing smile set a standard that few around the world can match. Fatumah, Florence,Samuel and Edward were absolutely special and we have no hesitation recommending them for their wonderful service. We loved staying at Papyrus which is around a European 3 star property and will stay again on our return. Both rooms were very clean and spacious . We used their van to go to the Victoria Mall and souvenir shops at a cost of $ 20 US. A tip when in Uganda, although US currency is accepted in most places in the cities you also need to carry Ugandan shillings for smaller retailers.

Papyrus Guest House is very convenient for Entebbe airport. The rooms are clean and we had no issues at all with hot water in the showers. So all of that is positive.
The meals are poor despite the apparent choices available and there is complete inflexibility over meal times. So basically whatever time you ask for a meal you will only get it that time if it suits the guest house. That wasted a lot of time. Coffee at breakfast was good but the bread was awful. No toast available just soggy bread. Sometimes you got dessert, sometimes you did not - even if you had ordered it.
There must be other places to stay which are equally convenient for the airport and offer a much better service. We would not return.

+1
The guesthouse offered several quiet rooms close to yet far from the bustle of the town. A walk-in shower with hot water and fragrant toiletries, mosquito nets, and comfy beds made a good night's rest. The all inclusive offered meal choices. The pumpkin soup started dinner. My talapia was grilled to perfection with potatoes and grilled veggies. The tender pork chop topped off our meal. Gift provided impeccable table service for dinner and breakfast, with 4 choices, no buffets. Several dining areas are available in three small
outdoor settings. Tony jumped to carry our luggage from and back to our vehicle with perfect timing. This safe place provides a quiet night's rest.

Papyrus Guesthouse was more than a stopover before heading to Bwindi. It was a memorable stay. I booked the hotel directly when I booked Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge (also FABULOUS!!), and when we arrived after many, many hours of travel, we felt like we were greeted by old, dear friends. Florence and Ethel were amazing from the moment I booked the hotel until I left Uganda. They both represent everything that is awesome and endearing about Uganda. Papyrus Guesthouse is lovely, and comfortable. The food was delicious and they catered to our dietary needs. We loved sitting on the porch, enjoying a delicious Uganda beer before dinner. It is close to Entebbe Airport, yet feels like it is tucked away. I highly recommend.

Very nice and quiet place near the airport and the botanical gardens. The rooms are spotlessly clean, quite big, equipped with a fan (though you don't need it as it cools down nicely at night). The bed is good and the bathroom has everything you need.
For breakfast you have choose between a long list of items. The only little minus point is that for lunch and dinner there are only 3 dishes. So if you stay a number of days, you'll end up eating the same things over and over again.
There's a nice garden with quite a few birds. Look for the African Wood Owl who sleeps in the trees during the day.

Response from Jackie Sato, General Manager at Papyrus Guesthouse
Responded Jul 9, 2021
Thank you 904agnesc. We appreciate your review and glad that you liked the ambiance, proximity and the lots of bird species around the compound. We will try to keep the African Wood Owl a resident of Papyrus Guest House. We serve an Ala Carte and we are flexible with the food choices, and can serve you items out of the menu and to your liking. We appreciate the review and will be honoured to host you again.

We ended our trip with a day in Entebbe and after several days of safaris and gorilla tracking it was a great place to rest. Staff is very nice. We had a problem with our flight so after checking out we had to come back to the hotel and they were very empathetic, let us hang around and use the facilities until it was time to go back to the airport. It is a nice quiet big guest house with lots of trees. The morning birds can get a little loud so you’ll get a nice natural alarm clock.

The staffs at Papyrus Guest house made us feel at home with their excellent service and a warm welcome. Sam, Fatmah, Paul, Lisa, just but to mention a few were really courteous and welcoming. The ambiance of serenity gives you a heavenly impression. I appreciated using all Ugandan products in the bathroom, the meals were sumptuous and prepared with the touch of an experienced chef. Waking up to the chirping of birds and the silence of my surroundings made me have a relaxed feeling throughout our stay.

A haven away from the bustle of Entebbe and yet very close to the airport.
But what makes this place really special is the staff, who are so kind and attentive while at the same time leaving you enough space to enjoy the luscious gardens and comfortable rooms. I'd definitely stay there if I go back to Uganda!
