Well appointed rooms with views over the terracotta rooftops. Excellent and attentive staff. Quiet & peaceful which makes for a restful nights sleep in a luxurious bed. Beautiful breakfast in separate dining room, overlooking tranquil garden setting. Especially loved the poached eggs and home made jams. Easy walk to old town centre.

Wine on the lawn lazing the evening away after a busy day sightseeing in this delightful town. The hotel could not be more laid back (in a very good way). The room was gorgeous. This is not 5 star luxury but it is stunning in every way. Can't wait to return.

First, from the reception, we felt welcome, the breakfast was very good, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The location of the hotel is another plus, less than 50 meters , and you are in the bazaar, close to the museum. The hotel is well decorated, and vey clean. We will go back

We had a lovely weekend at Gulevi. We were upgraded and our room was in the furthest building on the other side of the garden. It had a big modern bathroom (only a bath with a shower attachment though) and a beautifully decorated bedroom. The hotel staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent with fresh orange juice and...

Starting from the reception to your room you will meet well organised decoration and smiley crew. Before my last visit I have been to Safranbolu many times and tried many others. I could say the best choice for Safranbolu is Gülevi. In my last travel I went with my family and friends. We had two little naughty children with us....

We had a great experience at this place. The location is perfect, inside the old city, walking distance to the market and o the museum up the hill with the best views of the historic site. We booked the suite. Amazing experience. The bathroom was fully renovated but harmonizing with the 300 years of the mansion. Breakfast was fine. For...

We stayed here as part of a semi independent holiday. The hotel is in the old part of Safranbolu. The rooms are heritage, which means you open a cupboard door and you step into a bathroom. Indeed you get to experience an old way of life. It is not a luxury hotel, but we enjoyed our stay. We were greeted...

I would firstly recommend reading the review submitted by Tedstravelblogs just below - it virtually mirrors everything I would say. His review of the bathroom facility is correct, though I am a little more forgiving perhaps than that - I resign myself to a certain amount of compromise when staying in these converted places. In a similar vein, some of...

I stayed in Gulevi Safranbolu for two nights from 22 Sep 2015 during my trip in Safrabolu. It is located in the old town and takes one-minute walk to the town centre. The hotel is an authentic Ottoman Mansion, with traditional decoration and fittings. It made me feel that I was back in the Ottoman era when I stepped into...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Gülevi Safranbolu emerged as a project of living through revitalization rather than one of accommodation. The project was initiated to survive the richness and subtlety of life which flourished during the 18th century in Safranbolu which is currently inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Gül and İbrahim Canbulat acquired three neighboring Ottoman mansions in the early 2000s and started running these buildings following restoration. All three mansions date back to the 18th century. Damage and wear due to time and human intervention were recovered by the restoration process; the mansions were granted their genuine architectonics. Modern facilities required for the present-day functions of these mansions were installed without distorting the authentic integrity of the Ottoman mansion. Gülevi Safranbolu offers 18th-century elegant life style with no compromise on contemporary appliances. ... more   less

“The only problem is the sound isolation. They didn't have the concept in Ottoman Turkey in 19th century. If you happen to have sensitive sleep earplugs are the solution. Yet being awanened in a truly village manner - with birds, dogs and neighbours all contributing - is a rare opportunity in our days”
