We were in suite #1 with a double bed and two rooms. The best part of staying at Hezen Cave Hotel is the incredible staff. From the day we booked, we were contacted by e-mail asking how they could assist us during our visit. Mehmet is very personable and helpful when planning your day and giving tips – he was fabulous. The staff cleaning our room, carrying luggage, working during breakfast are all friendly and helpful. The views from the hotel are one of a kind, unique and scenic of the castle of Ortahisar. Breakfast on the terrace was a wonderful way to start the day with freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, a Turkish breakfast, cakes, fresh fruit, cooked to order eggs and more. There was an honour bar beside the kitchen for guests’ use. I’m not sure a cave experience is ideal for ourselves as the room is very dark, little natural light, the air conditioning didn’t work well and the ceiling drops dust and particles. It is a charming and unique experience for a night or two but we were staying four. All I can say is it is an experience and probably not one I would repeat.

As all previously reviewers have said this really is a superb find. The staff are a credit to the hotel owners as they are efficient, friendly and carry out a very professional serivce. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Only drawback - not a criticism - is that it is not suitable for anyone who has any mobility issues or not of a reasonable level of fitness. It is set on a hill overlooking a valley with the castle and village on the other side of the valley, which involves climbing one hill walking along the main road and then into village and vice versa. For anyone who wants to be in a truely Turkish cave dwelling hotel away from the 'tourist' areas, then this is the place.

Ever since booking Mehmet the manager has been absolutly fantastic help. He helped organize ballonride, and upon arrival gave lots of recommendations from restaurants, spa and tours to take. Its clear he loves his job, no wonder who wouldn't! This cave hotel is pure magic. Its a few minutes drive from the hustle and bustle in Goreme, and Im so happy we choose this location. The view towards the Ortahisar castle is amazing both at sunrise and after sunset. The hotel has plenty of wonderfull outdoor space, with lounges and sunbeds around. The breakfast in the morning is all home made with different kinds of sweets and cakes each morning, as well as a plenty full buffet and eggs made to order. The rooms are so unique and well designed, with a huge turkish bath style shower. Amazing details all over. Only wished we could stay even longer! 3 days is not nearly enough, but that only means we will return back to this wonderful hotel again in the future! Thank you to all the staff for an amazing stay!

From the moment we arrived at the Hezen Cave we experienced professional service, great value, and surreal surroundings. The views of Ortahisar and the castle from the breakfast terrace and the rooftop terraces are "otherworldly" . . . We had a "standard" room which was beautifully appointed and, yes, it was a cave! The bathroom was like a bit of art with a large walk-in shower, and VERY clean. Sumptuous traditional cloths are provided as shower "towels" which is a nice, unique touch. The staff, as mentioned, was attentive, helpful, and professional. My wife and I didn't want to go out for dinner one evening so the staff accommodated our request for a light snack of bread, olives, cheese, and nuts, to go with our glass of wine, free of charge. Much appreciated! We still talk about that evening listening to the call to prayer looking at the castle . . . I should mention the location for the sake of clarity. This is by no means a criticism of the location, which we found incredible . . . Hezen Cave is not situated where you can walk out to see a mass hot air balloon launch at sunrise. Although the odd balloon can be seen from Hezen Cave, it is a considerable distance from the launch sites. I would prefer the view of Ortahisar and the castle any day, but be forewarned if you want to be near launch sites. One afternoon, we walked through town, down a road leading toward the National Park. I highly recommend this flat hike of about 4km round trip. We were blown away by the cave dwellings and ancient monasteries that lined the path on both sides. Take plenty of water and don't expect toilet facilities as this is undeveloped (which made it even more COOL!). Value for the dollar for the experience we had a Hezen Cave was amazing. Reasonably priced with fantastic service, amenities and views. We went in late September and the weather was picture perfect. Highly recommended.

The village of Ortahisar is in the heart of Cappadocia, yet it is unspoiled by hoards of tourists. The view from the Hezen Cave Hotel of the mosque and Ortahisar Castle is incredible. The hotel is very well run and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were offered a drink, which was most welcome after a long days travel, and enjoyed a glass of Turkish tea in the reception while we completed the formalities. Our room was literally in a cave that was sumptuously decorated with fine silver ornaments. The large king size bed was very comfortable and we had a separate living room complete with a flat screen TV where we could access BBC and CNN in English, something not many of the hotels we stayed in offered. The bathroom was spacious with a huge walk in shower. We had a roof top terrace with great views and there were also chaises outside our room on the lawn. One of the highlights was enjoying breakfast in the warm sunshine on their terrace each morning with magnificent views of the Ortahisar Castle. Although we chose to eat out at night in nearby towns, they do offer 2 set menus including mezze each night for dinner. There is a laundry for guests to use free of charge which was was great. The whole team provide excellent customer service and go out of their way to be helpful. Communication prior to the trip was prompt and they were able to arrange a Sunrise balloon ride for us as well as a private guide to help explore the all the fascinating sights and history of Cappadocia. We even met the owner of the hotel Mr. Murat, who showed us some beautiful Turkish carpets. This hotel is a real find.
