the cave rooms, to which an upgrade was granted from a "stone room", are a bit of experience and adventure. <the room was large and well designed, with nice decor and all. The hotel may at first seem like a labirynth, but it in fact it isn't very big. <views from the terrace are stunning. The property was clean and properly maintained. he only drawback is that the car park is very small, when compared to the number o rooms in the hotel, and can easily be blocked by even one improperly parked car, which then requires a very special set of skills to get up the narrow and winding lane to another parking space.
Our first visit to Turkey and a cave hotel, it was a great experience. It can be a bit tricky to drive there but consdering it is spread over a whole hillside understandably so. If you arent a fan of steep narrow streets then park in the lower car park. Oktay the manager speaks fluent English and is very accommodating and will communicate with you 24/7 when required by whatsapp. Always happy to help. Although our trip was tainted by covid, we found thr service very good and accommodation very satisfying. One must accept that it is a cave so dont expect a lot of natural light in rooms or ventilation but still very comfy. The surrounding village is off the beaten track and offers a peek into traditonal life rather than staying in touristy spots.
We loved it. The hotel is so unique, all stone. The people were friendly, traditional food was quite good, Turkish coffee and tea were the best. Rooms were so special, all old culture of Turkey, so good. We totally recommend this place for you to visit if you want to go to Cappadocia. The view is also great.
The Nar Cave House hotel has a nice look to it, and the décor is quite well done. You can see that a good amount of money and labor was put into working the interior of this literal cave hotel. The rooms are very clean, and the bathroom is very modern, which I liked. The manager, Oktay, was extremely helpful at all times, and spoke the best English of anyone there. He helped me with a refund from the balloon trip operator, after the balloon ride had been canceled due to weather. Oktay was also very patient about answering all my questions, and also was immediate about looking into an internet outage when it occurred. The terrace dining area is also nicely set up, and quite charming. To begin with, finding this hotel was like a quest of its own. Unfortunately, my GPS was not able to locate the address provided on Booking.com. I had to go thru great troubles, including getting caught in rush-hour traffic in Nevşehir, in order to even get to the Nar neighborhood where the hotel was located. Finally, once in the general area, I had to ask around in my very poor Turkish for directions on how to get there. Maybe the hotel ought to contact booking.com reservation customers and give them some type of instructions? In any case, other issues with the hotel: the staff speaks very little English, overall. English is an important tourism language. But, when I arrived at the hotel, after a maddening search for it for 2 hours, the lady at the reception dryly handled my check-in, and was unable to answer any questions at all. Then, servers in the hotel's restaurant were unable to properly take dinner requests because of this language gap. I was lucky I spoke some Turkish, because an Italian couple trying to order in limited English was completely unable to make their order understood, and I had to help out. For that matter, many items listed on Nar Cave House's dinner menu were unavailable, and the offerings for dinner were very limited, and of average quality - expensive for the prices being charged, certainly. Then, the wi-fi connection at this hotel is very slow, and has a tendency to be unstable - there were various times where I had no internet at all. Also, the breakfast at this hotel is of very poor quality. I had to beg the staff for a SECOND hard-boiled egg, after asking for a total of 4 eggs. Plenty of bread and sweets, but very stingy on the food of substance: cheese and eggs, or some type of meat (there was none). Lastly - and this is not the hotel's fault - the neighborhood where the hotel is located in a very run-down area. It has a smell of rotting flesh hanging in the air, and dogs and cats roaming the streets. Finally, the room's radiator was on at night, which left the room unbearably hot. There was no way to shut this off inside the room, from what I could determine. It made sleeping quite uncomfortable.…
