Hotel has a great Location. One of the Highest locations in Gerome. In the same lane as Mithra and Divan cave .Cozy place with nice cozy rooms. The owners are very welcoming, make you feel at Home.Great breakfast AND EXCELLENT BALLOON WATCHING TERRACE.It dosent come cheap, though.
We had the pleasure of staying at Koza Cave for a night. Gürkan helped us tremendously with our constant questions about where to rent a buggy etc. he personally talked to the rental office and got us a buggy for a private drive. And the ladies who prepare your breakfast are the sweetest. We stayed at couple of different hotels in Cappadocia and Koza by far has the best & richest breakfast.
We booked Koza Cave Hotel based on the 5.0 rating of 400+ reviews this hotel received at the time of our booking. Having spent 2 nights there, I'm now doubtful how they got the rave reviews. Let's start with the pro and there's only one: the terrace. The hotel does have a nice terrace with nice view of the fairy chimneys. Some guests claim it's the highest in Goreme and it appears to be so. The cons: 1) Breakfast from 8:30am - 10:30am. This is an inconvenience for guests who got back from the balloon ride will have to wait around an hour or more to have breakfast. If you have excursions that start early, you will either miss breakfast or will have to rush through breakfast. Also, for the money that we paid (roughly $250 a night), the breakfast was sub-par. The croissants/pastries were stale and there was not a good variety of hot items or fruits, contrary to some of the reviews. 2) The terrace: hot air balloon photos from the hotel terrace is the highlight for us and i'm sure for all the other guests. We had asked 'G', the owner of Koza (or owner's son) the day before if there's anyone who could help take some photos for us. He said 'I will' and 'I will be there at 5pm to take your pictures'. We were at the terrace around 5:15am and G was no where in sight. Other guests were kind enough to take our photos. However, his dog (i assume the dog belongs to the hotel) was in the terrace and decided to take a 'dump' right on the carpet. My husband accidently stepped on the dog poop and frantically left the terrace to clean his shoes. Needless to say, this happened while we were in the middle of taking photos with the balloons flying over us. We lost half of our photo opportunity. 3) In-room coffee and condiments: not sure how often they re-stock/replace the coffee pods, cream & sugar but the non-dairy cream was very stale and the sugar was hard. We decided to not drink the coffee as we didn't want to get sick. 4) lack of normal attention/maintenance: each room has outdoor furniture which consists with a bench, cushions, pillows and a table. It rained pretty hard before we arrived so all the cushions and pillows were being temporarily stored in covered areas. This is understandable but hotel staff should put them back where they belong so guests can enjoy the outdoor space as that's what we paid for. After two days, we decided to put them back ourselves. Also, there was a big bag of soil left right outside our room the entire time. We removed it ourselves as we didn't want it to show up in our photos. We went next door to Sultan Cave Suites to check out their terrace in the morning and at that moment, we realized we should have stayed there. The terrace has a very nice setup up with Turkish tea, fresh fruits and treats. It also has nice court yards with abundant flowers in bloom and a very posh restaurant which we had a nice dinner the night before. We went back and forth between Koza Cave and Sultan Cave Suites but decided on Koza mainly for their terrace and the fact that the hotel only has 8 suites which could mean less competition with the photo taking in the morning. Although Koza Cave terrace has a nice view, it's much smaller than Sultan Cave Suites which has 2 terraces. I rarely write reviews but I feel I need to in our case. Many reviews complimented G for his kindness and we did feel this way in the beginning. After a few days, we figured out that he is nice if it brings potential revenue to his hotel such as booking excursions, airport transfer, etc ... Overall, we were disappointed as we had high hopes for Koza Cave. I hope this reviews will help the next guest make the right decision.…
Loved it here - special cave hotel, and you must stay in a cave hotel in Cappadocia, great views from the roof terrace and loved our room, very cave like but spacious, lots of room. Enjoyed great views from the roof terrace of the Balloons one morning and also lovely for drinks and cocktails in the evening. Breakfast was delicious - fabulous buffet and available for a long period which was good and made start to the day relaxed. Very friendly and welcoming family hotel, very helpful booking restaurants, arranging car hire for us etc. Highly recommend.
This hotel is marvellous, with the highest rooftop in Goreme. The staff is very nice, especially G who helped me throughout my stay with the best recommendation and he's one of the kindest person I've met. Recommended!
Our family of three stayed in their king suite which is located on their top floor, in a rock fairy chimney. Beautifully decorated room, eventhough the living room is small. The bathroom is very nice and spacious, equipped with large bath. All windows have beautiful view, especially the one in our attic bedroom, which has direct view of the valley. The private balcony is also as pictured. Breakfast was really good, compared to other cave hotel we stayed at the night earlier. Their rooftop is great for sunrise photo. However, we were offended by this lady (a family member of the owner) who came up the stairs and approached only us to ask if we stay at the hotel, and walked off right after without asking the 6 other guests who were also on the rooftop. We are the only Asian family there, so we can't help but to feel that it was racial profiling.…
4 of us stayed at koza cave hotel and we booked 2 rooms with a living room area. getting there we rented a car and drove from kayserie airport, the roads in goreme are narrow and since koza is located right at the top it was a challenge to navigate the roads because only one car can pass through at a time. you can park directly outside the hotel as the road is wider there. the rooms super cool rooms carved out of the rock, our rooms were huge, each with its own living room and toilet. each room is also different and unique with different decorations and the antique carpets, loved it! breakfast the breakfast here is simply amazing, the food is delicious and they change it up everyday, what a treat! the hotel its a family run business so all the cousins and uncles help to make the hotel feel like home. G was such a great host, he painstakingly helped to find us a slot on a balloon because ours got cancelled, unfortunately it was a public holiday so all the balloons were full. He helped us arrange tours with his uncle Mustafa, it was such a delight to meet him! Mustafa drove us on a private red tour as well as to the salt lake, he’s such a nice chatty guy and he always made sure we were comfortable. the rooftop of koza is indeed the highest in goreme. the morning the hot air balloons flew G helped to lay out the carpets and pillows and even brought up some hot coffee! it was so amazing to see so many balloon rise up in the air! Overall if you can afford this hotel i would highly highly recommend it!…
My friend and I stayed there during Easter Weekend and it was absolutely perfect! We arrived at 10pm and G was still there to welcome us with a smile. He was very helpful all along, recommending places to go, restaurants to eat at, and so friendly and nice! As the hotel is a family business, you will get a chance to meet "the mother" who is the owner, "the uncle" Mustafa who is the best and nicest taxi driver but is also an excellent guide. And G, who is on the other side of their whatsapp and reception desk, ready to help at any time for anything. Honestly, only stayed 48hrs but felt like at home! Loved it there and 1000% recommend!
Traveled with wife and stayed there for 2 nights in November '21. Sam, Ozgur and the team were exceptionally amazing hosts. The room was warm and the bed was very comfortable. It had a very good heating system. The Wifi was also great and breakfast was delicious. The hotel is located at the top of Goreme and provides amazing views of the city and beyond. Especially booked it for that and we weren't disappointed at all. The only downside is its located 10-15 mins away from the center so for people who do not want to walk much it might be a bit of a hike cos of the hilly terrain. For people who'd like a quiet stay, this would be perfect. Overall, had a very pleasant stay and will definitely stay there again. Best wishes to the team.
Cappadocia is a must in a lifetime experience and there is no better place to have it then in Koza Cave! The best view in Gorome for sunrise and sunset! The food and the service was of highest quality! It is better then you can imagine!
