I loved my stay at this hotel. The staff were nice and the place is absolutely beautiful. It's a little easy to get lost in it depending on what room you're in. But there is a lovely courtyard, a small bar, a rooftop with fire pits, and my room was clean, spacious, and artfully decorated.
Very interesting design. The staff was always very nice. Very close to many important places and restaurants. The breakfast was lovely. My favorite was the atmosphere of the place. In some parts of the hotel, you'd feel like you're in a museum. Overall a great experience.
Sofa Hotel is a collection of beautifully restored traditional Avanos houses set around a central courtyard. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and each has an outdoor seating area. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful - a dizzying array of fruits both dried and fresh, cheeses, jams, olives, cheeses, muesli, freshly baked pastries and bread. The personnel are kind, friendly and happy to help. There is secure parking about 50m from the hotel and street parking just in front.
Our tour group of 15 stopped here for 3 nights...just charming and spacious albeit a little dark due to the room being set into the hill. It was a treat to stay here in a room decorated in Turkish antiques, ceramics and carpets . Breakfast was delicious! Highly recommended!
I’ve never stayed in a room hewn out of a rock face until now. This eclectic offering is quirky to the extreme. Rooms are spread across quite an area with many stairs involved. Room furnishings are quaint local antiques that add to the theme but aren’t that user friendly comfort wise. Our room had a lovely outlook onto the courtyard where a nice breakfast is served. In the afternoon local wine can be brought and enjoyed there as well. Being essentially a cave their aren’t a lot of windows so the room is dim, the upside is it’s really quiet. Proximate to the shops of Avanos this is a hotel for those looking to experience something quite special. If your a creature comfort seeker looking for a standard hotel room look elsewhere.
These are the pros and cons: Pros: the entire hotel looks like a movie set, it’s unbelievably charming and beautiful, every inch is decorated so perfectly, the breakfast buffet is great, hotel is walking distance to the bus station Cons: you have to take a bus about 15 minutes to go to Göreme, the city that is considered the center of this region that has all the restaurants and entertainments, there is no elevator, there is no working air conditioners in the rooms. I highly recommend this hotel because it’s so so beautiful and unique.
Hands down , this was the most beautiful “hotel” I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying. Each room unique, and the detail in the decor amazing. Quaint and friendly little bar downstairs. Some rooms have tunnels, in keeping with the exotic landscape of the Cappadocia area.
We stayed at Sofa Hotel for two full days and it was the best of all the hotels we stayed in during our 10 day trip across Turkey. The hotel is laid back (both literally and figuratively) and homely. The rooms are varied but each one is unique, the decor is more in sync with the local culture. There is no room service and the amenities in the rooms are basic. The breakfast served is really delicious. A walk through the hotel itself is an enriching experience- with many antiques laid at various places.
Enjoyed our stay at this hotel- the photos advertised are very true depiction of exactly what you can expect. Rooms are not fancy but they are spacious. Front desk English is not good but they did try to understand requests and assist. Breakfasts are a decent buffet and it's pretty well located in Avanos
I've never been to such a wonderful place, so cozy and comfortable. The entire theme of the hotel is outstanding. Absolutely homely and not at all business like. Very spacious room and very good breakfast. Overall a delightful atmosphere and makes it a great place to stay and enjoy the holiday
