We recently spent 2 wonderful weeks at Derici and have to say that this hotel is ideally situated in a prime seafront position; midway between the cruise terminal and the marina and also very conveniently placed for shops. We had travelled independently and booked a front balcony room (via a well-known online booking website) which was well worth the money for the fabulous view – frequent visits by Celestial Cruise ships, Tui and a couple “under sail”. There was never a dull moment watching all the traffic activity day & night (although this did not cause any undue noise at night-time) - the seeming chaos around the nearby crossing point, the many wedding processions and the very swiftly removed illegally parked vehicles. Dolmus stops very convenient; No. 6 for Long Beach directly opposite the hotel & No. 4 for Ladies Beach just 100-150 yards along to the left. Our trip was planned to be total relaxation (we have already visited Ephesus, etc) and that’s exactly what we did (ie. very little). Our room was exactly as shown and described on the hotel website – a very large & comfy double bed, huge mirror along the wall with (very cleverly) built in television which we actually didn’t use much but we know this is important to some people. Things to note: there is a charge for use of the safe in the room and also that although there is a kettle provided, you will need to have your own tea, coffee, etc. The wardrobe had adequate hanging space for our needs but others might think differently. If anything, we would have to say that at first there seemed not much drawer storage, but we simply put our “packing cubes” (we never go anywhere without using these – indispensable) on the shelving within the wardrobe. The room and balcony was kept very clean by the housekeeping staff (sorry; can’t remember the lady’s name) and all towels in the bathroom were changed daily. All the staff on reception duties were always very helpful with any queries that we had. We didn’t make use of the rooftop pool as the temperature was way too hot for us (we were told that it was abnormally hot this year) but did use the seats in the covered area just below (on the same level as the outdoor restaurant). Breakfast is served from 7.00am – 10.00am (to accommodate the excursions which usually seemed to be an 8.30am pickup) but as we were going nowhere, we usually didn’t arrive for breakfast until around 9.15am. As a result, we would guess that it’s fair to say that the hot/cooked options were probably past their best and we usually just stayed with juice, the wonderful Turkish bread, cheese or maybe honey & possibly yoghurt with honey and maybe Melon. All of the breakfast restaurant staff were amazingly helpful & we think that a “full English breakfast” can be served (at a charge) until later in the morning although we weren’t interested (we were in Turkey after all). So to sum up; we think that all round this hotel is fantastic and we have in fact already booked to visit again next year; this time as a Jet2 package simply because their flight times are convenient. Thanks to everyone at Derici – we’ll be back.

Just had a week in this hotel, this being our second stay here. It is in the perfect location, right on the sea front and minutes away from shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and local attractions. The hotel staff are very friendly and are happy to assist if you need them. The Hotel pool is beautiful. The hotel itself could do with updating, that said it is looked after and clean. The only criticism is that breakfast is a bit hit and miss but as we only made it there twice I shouldn’t complain! All in all a great holiday and we are rebooking for next year!
