Where to start... The room is outdated, small and scruffy with only one small wardrobe and two little bedside tables so prepare to live out your suitcase. The tv had one fuzzy working channel (BBC news) and the remote didn't work. On checking, the batteries were crusty. Air con had no fins on which meant no control of the air flow, we had to wedge cardboard in the edge of it to direct the airflow from directly on to the bed. This also had to be paid for separately along with the safe when the booking stated ac was included. AC €3 per day, safe €2 per day. The shower hook (where the head sits) was broken, took them two days to fix it and even then it's the wrong one so the head is pointing outward rather than down. The shower head was so scaled up that the water trickled out and then sprayed from a couple of open holes wherever it wanted. I actually bought a new shower head from a shop in town for about £2.50 and it completely fixed it although the mouldy shower curtain doesn't go to the floor so the water soaks the bathroom floor every time you shower. Second Sunday though we had no water at all. The shopkeeper asked us about it as a gent had been in and purchased 20 litres for a shower and was staying at the semoris... I didn't think much of it but went for a shower around 10pm to find no water! Food, shocking. Breakfast, typical Turkish breakfast. Olives, tomato, cucumber, 1 boiled egg, jam, yesterdays chips, cream cheese and some meat. All brought to you so can't get any more or maybe have two eggs instead of cheese? On one occasion during breakfast there were no cups out. I requested a cup so i could get coffee to be informed there were no cups available as they were all being used.... What??!! The only breakfast change was on one day (over two weeks) they brought us a single egg omelette each instead of boiled. We had evening meal there once. I ordered kebab to be told 20 minutes later they were out so i changed to fish. A badly battered thin piece of fish mainly consisting of bones and some rice. Was completely not edible as there was nothing left after picking bones out and to make it worse the lighting meant I couldn't see it properly anyway. At least the local cat enjoyed his feast that evening. The evening meal was 100tl which is a good price but considering most restaurants do nicer meals for around that price you should go elsewhere if you are staying here. Over two weeks they put on entertainment once in an evening, well unless you count the stereo playing all evening. The second Saturday they put on a BBQ evening meal (we watched from the balcony having been out all day and already eaten). They had hired a keyboard player/singer who was ok and a belly dancer who was great. Then topped it off with a foam machine which actually looked really good fun. The local dimar market opposite the Hawaii has a lovely english lady (Jo) working in it who actually gave us more tips and told us about more events than any single person at the hotel. She advised markets and places to see. Where to catch the dolmus so we didn't get stung by taxis. What to look out for in old town where every shop keeper will try and rip you off and was generally just very helpful, even down to getting me the right apple tea to bring home. The Hawaii restaurant was the most welcoming Turkish restaurant around and on the doorstep of the semoris so that was great. The staff there were how I remembered Turkish staff from my previous visit. Happy, smiling, attentive and couldn't do enough for you. A great fun atmosphere that you actually felt welcome in... The hotel staff, on the other hand... Well they never smile, look completely bored and don't want to do anything for you... Unless you're Turkish it seems. They would always chat with them and smile but for anyone else, Germans, Brits, French etc they just seemed disinterested. We would also notice that Turkish families that took their seats after us at breakfast seemed to always get served before us as well, just another way of making you feel unwelcome. Occasionally they might smile but few and far between. They have a strict no food and drinks purchased from outside the hotel in the room, pool area or bar. We would go and buy snacks and drinks for excursions we were leaving early for the next morning and then sneak them back in to the hotel. To not be allowed drinks purchased elsewhere in the room just seemed bizarre... I mean it's a hot country I want to have drinks in my room. This is so they can get more out of you. Large bottle of water 20tl, 7 at the shop. Bottle of sprite 30, 17 at the shop They have an arrangement with a local beach and run regular buses down to it in the morning and then journeys in the afternoon... Guess what... You're not allowed to take any food and drinks to the beach either. We gave up going there after one visit and made our own way to a lovely quiet section and did what we wanted. Anyway, no fridge, no kettle... Actually I took a kettle (and mugs) from home on my flight with tea bags so all wasn't lost. We then got small cartons of uht milk and that would be fine for a couple days after opening by leaving it in water (changing the water morning and night). I also bought some single shot latte drinks as well which were very simple when I wanted one. All in all its a cheap hotel with a nice enough pool area but that's as far as it goes. If you want a cheap bed and you're going to be out all the time it's probably fine for you. If you want something half decent then go elsewhere.…
