we got a really cheap last minute deal so expectations weren’t high. yes, the rooms are basic but they are functional, you do need to pay for fridge/kettle/air con/wi-fi. we had read previous reviews and packed a small travel kettle. we paid for the fridge (worth it). wi-fi for a couple of days in the room (not worth it - connection isn’t great). didn’t feel we needed the air con. the beds - hardest i’ve ever slept on, partner didn’t mind so much. breakfast, we stuck mostly to toast and fruit. tip - buy your own butter. it’s not the quietest as there is a pool bar which the rooms all look out to and it can get noisy quite late. it’s not for me but that’s a personal choice and it suits a lot of people for holiday. we never sat by the pool, but as others have mentioned, the loungers were claimed by towels early on. Pluses - any queries we had were quickly answered and honestly i cannot fault the cleanliness of the place - every staff member we saw was working hard to clean and clear up after guests, i think possibly the family who own it were always present. these people really do work long hours doing what i imagine is sometimes a thankless job - i wish i could have afforded to leave a bigger tip - they deserve it. genuinely - clean. the lady came to the room every day, we didn’t need it, but it’s good to know it’s there if you do. shower - good size walk in,great pressure. hair dryer in bathroom - not fancy, but does the job. i liked the location, ideal for transport and walking and it’s not on a main road. no view, but the pool area was beautifully green with loads of plants and trees, it looks like it has been loved and well maintained - i was sitting on the balcony a few times at 3 or 4 in the morning(enjoying the quiet!) and there was someone even at that time cleaning leaves out the pool and watering the plants. changing money - we got 18.2 at home and the hotel were offering 19 - they only take cash - so something to think about for convenience (we withdrew cash from the post office atm in the old town - no charges and by far the best rate). as we were on a budget, we were looking for the cheap and cheerful places to go - cheapest beer was in a small bar called the lotus, but think it was closing down (at the big roundabout, cross where the red lion is and it’s just up the hill) met a few ex-pats there, seemed to be a local for them really good food at the kebab/takeaway shop next to the same big roundabout walking towards the old town (left hand side) not the prettiest, but very fresh food, really tasty and cheap - massive portions! the bus to manavgat is an experience - run every 10 mins, just stand and hold out your hand anywhere along the road - it was only about £1 for two of us. be prepared to get to know people VERY well. - it was always crammed! the driver will let you know where to get off if you ask. old town is beautiful, long but easy walk down, we also took the free bus from the hotel to the beach one day and walked along the beach to the old town. In short - it was our first time in turkey and first time in years booking a package holiday, for the money we paid, i feel we got a decent deal and the weather was fantastic. no complaints.

Not the best hotel we have stayed in. The apartment was a lovely size, but old dated and not very clean. Had to go out and get cleaning equipment and give it a good clean myself. Could not get a sunbed around the pool, as they were all taken early. Did not eat here as we went over the road and used the pool there, so we ate out. The area is so run down, littered with rubbish and overgrown. Everything is charged in the hotel, kettle, fridge, air conditioning, sunbed mattress, toaster. It feels like all you are is a money machine rather than a guest. I have been to Turkey over 12 times and never had to pay for any of these things except air conditioning before. Sadly we will not recommend or return to this hotel.

Response from SEYDA YILDIZ SEN, İşletme Sahibi at Gazipasa Star Hotel
Responded Oct 22, 2022
Dear Guest, We thank you for choosing Gazipaşa Star Otel and taking time for reviewing our Otel. We apologize that we didn’t meet your expectations and consequently you did not enjoy your stay with us. In accordance with the agreement with some agencies, our hotel provides air conditioning, refrigerator, kettle with extra charge. This is completely related to the terms of the agency's agreement. Since the agency does not pay our hotel for these services, of course we charge a fee from the guest. We hope you will give one more opportunity to serve you as a guest in our Otel.

I have just returned for gazipasa after a holiday with 3 friends. Yes , the hotel rooms are basic but I didn’t go to spend time in my room! Breakfast again, basic but always had some toast and eggs which was enough. Yes, you hear the mosque calls early in the morning and through the day , nothing to complain about when this is part of the country’s culture. There is plenty to do around the hotel definitely recommend the flying horse and kibrit. The Saturday market was great and right next door. We 4 had an absolute blast, nothing was too much trouble for anyone here. Kemal and Mehmet were amazing looked after us all week always asking if we needed anything or where we’d been if we went out. Everyone works incredibly hard to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Honestly, the only thing that spoilt one evening was another guest (British) speaking to a member of the staff so rude in front of people, all over a piece of melon …. Get a grip Thank you to you all at gazipasa for making sure we had a fantastic time.

We stayed at Gazipasa for 10 days in august . Hotel is very basic and rooms could do with renovating . All rooms had a. Pool view and a decent sized balcony . I struggled sleeping as the beds were too hard for my liking but my husband had no problems . Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard . We paid extra for air conditioning and it was well worth it . Bar and pool area were kept nice and clean and staff were friendly and helpful . We went to the beach most days on the free shuttle bus . Beach was beautiful with free sun beds and parasols, however food was very expensive at the beach resort and they only sold meals not snacks. There were a good choice of bars and restaurants near the hotel , we liked the Flying Horse which was just round the corner .

After reading all the excellent reviews i was looking forward to a nice break away, how wrong can you be, booked for 2 weeks and arrived on sunday on a HB basis, it was sunday roast which i m not a lover of, unfortunately no other options but its only one day, not the end of the world, what i wasnt expecting was the karaoke until 2 in the morning loud and truly awful, it was a cade of who can shout the loudest, no chance of gettinga sunbed if you were up later than 0530 as all the beds had towels on them, also £5 a day for air-con, by tues my wife and i had had enough so i found another hotel just down the roadwhich was another £480 but worth it as A.I. inc air-con, when we checked out the girl on reception said they had more sunbeds in the basement which was pointless as there was nowhere round the pool to put them, you live and learn

On the whole a value for money hotel. We booked self catering & the apartment was huge for 2 of us. Unfortunately with only one electric ring to cook on ( no oven, microwave or toaster) we ate out every night. Pool area lovely but when busy, sun beds are at a premium! We spoke to guests who were setting their alarm for 5 am to put their towels on a sun bed!!! We had breakfast included. Lots of choice, cereal, cold meats, ham & salad. Some days there were cold baked beans, cold cheese chips & cold jacket potatoes! The butter tasted of lard… be warned! Free bus to beach an experience but the beach was stunning. Sun beds & parasols free but you are expected to eat or drink or both at the bar. We got told off for drinking water we had brought with us! The hotel is a 20 minute walk into Old Side which is absolutely beautiful. Lots of shops , cafes & bars a beautiful place to spend an evening. Would we stay here again? Probably not.

This is a 2 star hotel.....but with 5 star staff and service and friendliness!! Family run and staff have been here for years! Honest review as here at this moment 😊 Rooms basic but very clean and great shower Pay minimal extra charge for fridge and aircon Beds hard, bring topper if you can. My back is in bits Breakfast is continental....Turkish style....wish people would stop moaning about it! We ate very well when ordering from the hotel menu.....chef is great Sunbeds .....yep it is an issue but not the hotels fault, we managed 8am to get 2 beds every day. Although, think the hotel should stop people putting towels out all day though when not even on site! Staff are so happy and helpful We had no problems in the pool, apart from 2 out of control kids jumping in and causing chaos for an hour or two, one day Cats....they belong to hotel and are cared for. Yes they beg but most do, even my 2 spoilt madams at home! The hotel cats do not jump on to tables or you! Don't worry! There are themed nights throughout the week, optional. Prices here in Side are not as cheap in September as the travel agents back in UK tell you, but lower than Canaries etc. We were told prices were lower to eat and drink in the summer when it was busier! All in all we are having a wonderful week away, meeting like minded people wanting a relaxed break. Highly recommend if you want a cheap, no frills, hot weather, relaxed holiday
