I was nervous about booking because of the price but i have booked cheaper in Turkey and they've been great, plus the reviews were on the whole more positive so i took my chances and booked. Had i have arrived earlier my first night I'd have turned and run. The first room i was given was a family room and if id had had children with me there's not a chance i would have stayed there. It had a rickety filthy fridge by the bed and air conditioning that sounded like motorbike revving up. The room i got put in the next day was slightly better. I dropped something under the bed so i used something long to flick it out with and flicked it back even quicker. Used tissue old bits of snacks and hair balls, disgusting. I don't know when the last time the shower in the bathroom was properly cleaned but there was thick smelly black grimy mould built up and i can't even bare to look at the pictures i took of it to prove how awful it is. On a positive note the owner/manager was helpful when asked questions about how to move around the area and the food was tasty. That's it im afraid. This could be a diamond of a place if attention was paid to hygiene in the first instance and a lick of paint and change of very dated decor wouldn't go amiss. Cheap is good but cleanliness costs nothing but soap and water and a little bit of time and effort. I will definitely not be returning and will discourage people from going. Unfortunately i can't add the photos as they are too large.

Fourth stay, speaks for Itself. Feel like be of the family now. Very affordable yet good quality accommodation, have paid a lot more at other hotels for a lot less here in Side.Conveniently located with bank's, restaurants, cafés, weekly market, mosque all in close proximity. Excellent transport links right outside the gate and 24 hour shop on the corner. Many of us reach the same conclusion and return year after year, it is our home in Side

I only paid £88 to stay here half board I wasn't expecting too much for that price but was pleasently surprised. The hotel (not sure about appartments) is about a 15 minute walk to the beach, although a free shuttle runs in the morning. There is a reasonably sized pool with sun beds and a pool bar at reasonable prices. Breakfast was of the Turkish variety, salad, cereals, boiled eggs and bread. There was a juice and coffee machine plus tea. Evening meals nearly always different types of chicken dishes. The staff were quite friendly. Rooms were cleaned most days and towels changed. I had a big balcony, although it was at the rear of the hotel which overlooked barren land. Rooms the other side over looked the pool (perhaps they paid more). Check out was midday but I paid 70 TL (about £9) to keep the room until my departure at 6pm. There is a cheap supermarket next door which seemed to sell most things, even English newspapers. Overall good value.

Nowhere better than Side Antalya Turkey in October and no better value than the family owned and run Palmiye Hotel. Yes the food is Turkish, if you want English then holiday in England, some of us enjoy exploring the world and trying local cuisine. This isn't five star it's economy with a heart. I've tried more expensive and got far less for my money. As usual my nly complaint being the satellite television caters for German's with only news channels for the English speaking, rather frustrating. I shall be back again next October, all being well.

This was my third visit to this hotel, on this occasion I was accommodated in a newly refurbished room in what was previously apartments. The room was splendid with brand new quality furniture and well decorated. The down points were that I had no hot water at all during my two weeks here, I was offered alternative room in the main hotel block but I was reluctant to move from my quiet room which was very comfortable. Unfortunately the balcony overlooked a vacant plot which had an accumulation of unsightly rubbish strewn all around beneath, this could so easily be sorted in an hour or two. The food was quite delicious and Turkish and Kurdish, very healthy and generous display. I met several people who I had met last year at this time and also lots of new people too. I have moved on to another hotel in Side costing three times as much and the room I have here is pitiful in comparison to the beautiful room I had at The Palmiye Hotel. Trust me, there are many guests who return regularly two or three times a year to The Palmiye, excellently situated for banks, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, local dolmus services, mosque, Saturday Market, ten minutes walk from the beach and promenade, twenty minutes walk from Antiek Side and the Roman ruins, Temple of Man Temple of Apollo and the Roman amphitheatre. A bus will transport from the hotel to the most amazing beach with free sunbeds with waiter service for food and refreshments if you require any, there's also a bar and restaurant, the bus picks up from the hotel three or four times each morning and will return you to the hotel in the afternoon from three to five pm. If you're traveling on a budget this hotel is a real blessing and deserves a lot of praise in my h!bless opinion and I have worked for Hilton International, Cunard and Forte Hotels, I know what I am talking about. The downside is that the satellite TV system only caters for German's and Turks, this is very disappointing to British guests and could so easily be rectified as the hotel is becoming increasingly popular with British people.

Having stayed in Turkey previously I was looking for the kind and helpful people I have found in other resorts. Not at this hotel. Maid service only once in 7 days. Surly bar staff and an even more inhospitable manager. Room was basic as expected but only 1 electric socket and German TV. The manager seems to prefer his German guests. Cannot complain about the pool but guests were allowed to leave towels on sunbeds so it was difficult to find a space in the best spots. Wifi only works in the Reception area but not when the manager's family are monopolising it for their children's game playing.

Rooms are basic no fridge one plug socket, and only English channel on Tv was the BBc News, Cleaner lovely Lady came in every day and cleaned room, left clean towels each day mopped floor and made bed, The breakfast was Turkish everyday nothing English unless you count the boiled eggs, The hotel staff were very polite, The pool was very clean with water running all day, But the sunbeds were outdated needed cushions on them as very uncomfortable to lie on ! The pool area was not washed down at all the full week we were there, And built the wrong way round sun went at 4pm as Hotel put shadow over pool, Most of the guests were Russian or German and didn't speak ! even when we said morning or hello they just walked past without answering, (ignorant) All they seemed to want to do was pile there breakfast plates up with enough food for about 3-4 people Then make sure they did same at Dinner LOL, no entertainment at all just music that kept breaking up in the back ground, Probally have more equipment and things to do if you went camping. OH ! wifi was crap on and off all week

This was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. It was filthy, one towel each, half a toilet roll and hairs in the bed.You could hardly see in the mirror for the dust and as for behind the furniture, don't think it's ever seen a duster! The room stunk of sewers, the shower was either very hot or very cold. No toiletries as advertised, no gym as advertised, no cash machine as advertised and as for the food WELL you had to fight the wasps for it in the morning as nothing was covered up. Very little choice. Location was ok as there were plenty of alternative places to eat!!

I understand this is not a Hilton, or even trying to complete in that kind of range - And I don't rate many Hiltons that highly, either - this is a very different animal. Room dirty, dead bugs and piles of dust under the beds. Bathroom was revolting, sink cracked, barely a trickle of water from the shower, consistently torn and frayed bed linen (sometimes even charmingly featuring cherry burns). There was a television on the wall; It really didn't need a remote control - it received one station only. Food of a such a poor standard my my junior school from nearly 40 years ago would have balked from serving the like. One stand out feature regarding the 'catering': Coffee from a vending-like machine - In Turkey!?! Not even a drip-pot... Absolutely staggering. The housekeeping staff left my room unlocked after cleaning. Generally shoddy, a constant rotation of staff making it very unclear who was working there and who was 'friends with the barman'. A constantly blaring TV in the outside communal area... The list is almost endless. I feel I must give at least one positive point - the pool was very nice. Nothing else was.

I arrived at midnight, the room I was shown to appeared adequate, clean well designed and comfortable. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the food delicious. My room with balcony overlooking a vacant lot next door is quiet and out of the sun during the morning and early afternoon, which is a blessing. For the price that I paid for my holiday, I have no reservations in recommending this hotel to you. Mr Certain, Mr Ishmael and their family will take good care of you.
