This hotel represents very good value for money. The location is fantastic, with the shops, Roman ruins, and harbour just a short walk away. Our room was basic, but very clean with fresh towels daily. Although it was small, it had a fridge and air conditioning plus the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Food wise, the hotel is small, so there isn't as much choice as the larger hotels. However, this wasn't a problem as everything was well cooked, fresh and the menu was varied ( no labels though, so that can be tricky if you are veggie or have allergies). Wine and beer are really nice, the other drinks weren't great. No evening entertainment, but the staff put on music in the bar, and being so close to town means there is plenty on offer just minutes down the road. To sum up, good food, good location, good people, good wine and in all very good value for money. We intend on returning next year. Thank you to Mehmet and all the staff for a great stay.

This has to be one of the most chilled out holidays I've ever had.
I'm not sure if it was to do with the time of year but the pool area was excellent. No screaming kids, no towels on the sun loungers at 6am, no loud music and plenty of shade.
If you enjoy a burger and chips every night this isn't for you as the food is healthy and all fresh. I prefer it to the 5 star hotels and last year my wife and I visited 2. The rooms are basic and cleaned daily. The staff are very friendly and helpful. No queues for drinks at the bar. We were slightly unsure what this hotel would be like beforehand but it definitely exceeded our expectations. I would recommend it for couples who are looking for a relaxing holiday.

I found the hotel to be good value for money. It was very clean, friendly staff, although English not known proficiently, did not interfer with the enjoyment of the holiday. There was no majority of one nationality, English, Dutch, Russian and German guests.
The location was ideal for my family has it was not in a noisey area, but at the same time not far from all amentities that Side has to offer.
The food purchased at the pool bar was of a decent standard but at times could take some time for its preparation. Ali's restaurant across the road was excellent value and very good service. Trips purchased in the hotel were expensive and there is an abundance of travel agents offering the same trips at half the price. We purchased our trips from Toni, to be found down the hill by baba boat travel. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and all our trips went smoothly and without any problems whatsoever. I would recommend this hotel for families, couples or singles and you can take from the resort what type of holiday you require, both quiet or a very lively, active holiday.

Arrived mid Oct. Very good value for the price. Good location 10 mins from the beach.
Rooms cleaned daily with a change of bed linen. Food adequate for a 3 star.

Only problem was the young barman constantly played loud disco style music day, evening and night in the bar area, even when the bar was empty; music certainly not suited to a generation of seniors who made up 90% of the occupancy in Oct.
The volume and style of music changed after I complained - which should not have been necessary if the barman had the awareness and intelligence to realize that the hotel is run to accommodate the desires and wishes of the majority of the current paying residents at the time and not himself and the hotel staff!

We stayed 25th September til 9th October very nice hotel clean towels and linen every day very well situated for both beach and old town not too far to walk to either. Our room was on 4th floor lovely view over the sea and good sized room. The hotel seemed to cater more for the european visitors no information for English guests but we met some lovely people who tried to communicate. The staff were fine but don't ask for a cocktail in the bar god knows what you will get. The turkish bath and masssage in the hotel is very good. Lovely pool area well kept. Food good but repetative but salads really good and plenty of choice. I would not hesiste to recommend this hotel if you can cope with the lack of English would return there. Great holiday

My mother and I (Doris and Julie) recently visited this hotel, June 2012. We found the overall experience of this hotel was excellent value for money.
The hotel was exceptionally clean. Fresh towels were provided on a daily basis. Air con was provided free of charge.
A fridge was also provided free of charge if you had the mini bar at no extra cost, obviously you did have to pay for anything from the mini bar , but isn't that always the way!
As guests of this hotel we could ask for no more, there was an varied selection at breakfast to suit all pallets such as scrambled eggs, pancakes, dried fruit, cereals ,toastie's , yoghurt's an authentic Turkish breakfast and many more. Tea, coffee, chocolate and juices are also provided.
The evening meal was also to the same standard as breakfast with a wide variation again.
The beach close to the hotel is beautiful and clean. The hotel is also close to local amenities bars, shops, bus stop etc within a short walking distance.
The hotel pool was also immaculate, both pool and sunbeds were cleaned everyday!
The staff were very helpful both in house and on the reception, we did feel there was a small language barrier as they did not seem to fully understand English although this did not aid their determination to please guests form all countries.
Overall we think this hotel would suit both families and couples looking for a nice clean relaxing hotel.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and visit again and again.

The hotel had no lift...... but you can't have it all :)

Was a bit doubtful about booking this hotel after seeing some of the reviews but I was very pleasantly surprised indeed.

All areas of the hotel are tastefully decorated, well maintained and beautifully clean. Though I didn't use it as I prefer to swim in the sea the pool was crystal clear.

Staff were all friendly and efficient.

I had the half board option but because I usually ate with friends staying elsewhere in Side did not sample the hotel food in the evening. There was, however, an impressive array of food on offer at breakfast time.

I am pleased I had a room overlooking the pool area as I can fully see how those on the street side could have been noisy at night time as there is a club just across the way which opens late.

The hamam in the hotel is quite the best I have experienced - Mehmet was very thorough and skilled taking hours to deliver a relaxed, professional and quality experience. In stark contrast to the so called VIP Prestige establishment opposite the hotel entrance which was a rapid "production line" disappointment with four people on the slab at once whilst more sat around the periphery awaiting their turn with the whole thing being completed in 30 minutes flat! Avoid the VIP joint at all costs!

I wish the free wifi had been extended to more than just the lobby - but that is a very slight quibble indeed.

Upon leaving after my three week stay I thanked reception for the attention I had received and mentioned that I would recommend Kervan Hotel as a place to stay. The location is great for good local restaurants - notably Kumru (lovely Turkish cuisine) and Doruk Patisserie across the road and further along for scrummy cheesecake etc.

Recommended indeed - thank you for making my stay so comfortable and enjoyable!

Basic but very functional accomodation, close to everything in Side. Around 50 Euros for a three-bed room 4 nights incl half-board in late October. Wi-Fi in lobby, breakfast and dining area OK, especially the outside section. Daily cleaning and change of towels. Staff unusually quiet for Turkish. Seaview and view towards old town from hotel room, if facing that side. "Pool view" probably best option. Stay clear of the hotel room telephone as the true charge is well over the 1 TL/minute they told us, we paid 17 TL for a total of around 3 minutes of local landline calls.

I travelled alone and after a long delay at Newcastle arrived at the Kervan in the early hours of the morning tired and ready for bed. The reception staff were very polite and the security guard took me to my room and carried my bags.
The hotel is extreemly clean and tidy and the cleaning staff are also so polite and trustworthy in every way. In fact all staff at the hotel just want you to enjoy your holiday and make it a good time for you.
Prior to going I read several reports of a negative nature none of which I found to be accurate, I think the hotel takes a pride in what it offers to its customers and does all it can to make your stay a good one.
The rooms are well appointed with mini bar (price list detailed on front of fridge), shower room, TV with BBCPRIME so you can at least watch reruns of English TV if you fancy staying in.
The rooms are air conditioned and this will cost you 12 Turkish Lira per night. Safety deposit boxes are situated in the room and will be charged at 35 lira per week to hire. The hotel works a credit card system which you are given on arrival, the syatem works well, you can pay for drinks or meals at the end of the day or your stay if you like. I chose to pay at the end of my stay and the cost was accurate to the last Lira and you sign a reciept for each transaction which you can keep as proof of all your transactions.
I stayed bed and breakfast and found the food to be much like other holidays I have been on with cooked meats, cheese, boiled eggs, olives, tomatoes, cerial, tea and coffee, fruit juice and the most lovely fresh bread. If you dont fancy that the chef is on hand to do you fried eggs and ommelette if you want that too. Tell him how you want it and he will try his best.
The pool bar opens as long as you want it to do so and they did stay up until the eary hours for me and another resident who decided to have a good drink. I really think the Kervan aims to please.
In the locality down a steep but very short hill (from the main entrance turn right down the hill and right alony the road past mini market then turn left) you will find lots of shops and eating places leading down to the beach. Try the Kingfisher its great and the staff have a laugh and a joke with you and the food is not bad.
Come out of the main reception and turn right you will see 'Mehmets', this is an excellent open air eating house only a few yards away and really the food is great, try the 'Turkish Pan', comes to you on fire (bit of a worry), but tastes great.
Accross the road from the Kervan you can catch the Dolmus to Old Side for a Lira or so which to me makes the hotel very well situated it also being close to the beach. In the same place you can catch the Dolmus cheaply to all surronding towns and villages. Stop it anywhere, jump on and the price list is there for you to check.
I was situated above reception on the front of the hotel which gets the sun in the morning, the majority of rooms are situated around the pool and are washed in sun all afternoon.
The hotel has a security guard who walks round the hotel to make sure everyone is safe, which is nice to know (not that I experienced anything untoward), indead as I was leaving the security guard made it his business to carry my heavy case to the departure bus.
All in all a great stay and a very nice friendly hotel.
For 50 Lira you can keep your room on which is great if you have a late flight and pick up as you need to vacate by 1200, so worth considering. I did this and my room was due to be occupied, however the lad on reception let me keep my room and just did his best to allocate another to the guests due to arrive.
