Location: Hotel is situated in Kumkoy - Side, less than 1 hour from airport (in normal traffic), few kilometers from ancient city Side, approximately 10 minutes by dolmus (1 € per person). From hotel you can get to Kumkoy downtown with streets full of shops in less than 10 min walk. There are many shopping possibilities near the hotel, and also Side is very lovely city totally worth visiting. Hotel: Hotel itself from outsidefirstly might not look appealing, but you change your mind right when you walk in. Hotel is divided into 2 buildings. We spent all the time in the main building (with reception) so I will review only that one. During day, reception seems to be dark a little bit, however its very nice decorated and designed. There is a lobby bar with patisserie opened from 10-24 (cakes only until 21). Lobby bar could be opened from 9, as they serve very nice coffee. Hotel has a very nice restaurant, which in some time periods is very busy and it is hard to find place (mostly dinners). I must praise lovely terrace by restaurant which is perfect for breakfasts and dinners. The pool area has bar and snack bar (lunch is served also here) and at the beach there is bar again (however they serve only non-alcoholic drinks and beer, alcohol is served by the pool). The exterior of the hotel is very well maintained with a lot of palms, trees, bushes, and it makes the hotel looks very nice. There are 2 bigger pools, I tried one which was surprisingly 160 cm deep, but the water was just right temperature :) The hotel is little bit uphill, which can be an issue for someone. In the ,,beach floor,, of the hotel you can find hamam and hairdresser with pedicure/manicure. Room: We had a standard double room with sea view on the 7th floor (7/9). Well it was smaller than we were used to in Turkey, but for 2 people just enough. It was very nice furnished and clean. The set for the tea with kettle was a very positive surprise for us. Otherwise there was double bed , TV, fridge (daily filled with big bottles of water), safe (paid) and huge wardrobes. Balcony was accurate for chairs and table. The bathroom was quite small with a bath tub. It looked older but it was clean and working. The cons were programmes on TV were german, turkish (neither we understand) and only 1 card to room. We find it very limiting as we did not want to depend one on another. You could get pretty good wifi in hotel, room and beach for a fee - 14 days 5 € and 7 days 3 €. Food and drinks: Hotel has 1 main restaurant and some a-la carte (didnt try), lobby bar, pool bar, beach bar. The food in the restaurant was very wide in range and very tasty. Breakfast: different egg options, sausages, cheeses, salami, pastry and bread, marmelades, pancakes, crepes, musli etc. Wide choice of tea everywhere in hotel (my fav herbal and turkish of course). Lunch and dinner, wide offer of meat (excellent turkey meat and beef), everyday different fish, side dish (delightful rice and mashed potatoes), a lot of salads mixed already or vegetables. There was several times octopus served and once sushi. A lot of cakes and pastries to choose from, also wide variety of fruits - bananas, apples, peach, grapes..In the restaurant they serve you drink at the table, you dont go to bar. However you can take tea, coffee, water and some juices and sodas. During the day, at the pool there is lunch served (hamburgers, pasta, chicken nuggets etc.). At the beach there is gozleme place, water-melon at certain time. Food was generally were tasty and compared to 5 star hotel we spent vacation last year in Turkey, food was much better quality and wider choice. Beach: Beach was one of the highlights of the hotel. Pure sandy wide beach, with a lot of sunbeds and the best beach boy Mehmet, who was always very nice, with smile on the face and helpful. The best places in the first row were taken in the morning, but since there are not that many tourists you could find the spots during the days. On the beach you can walk both sides to see different resorts, on the left (direction to the pear) after cca 500 m there starts a promenade, where you cant walk directly to Side. There are many sport centres on the beach you can buy some attractions. Animations: The animation team was friendly, but not too pushy. There is boccia, darts, aerobic, some competitions, volleybal etc. Evening shows were nice, they are all great performers. There is every week either pool party or beach party and every second week there is live music. They tend to sit to the guests during lunch and dinner to make contact so you might be suprised when they sit next to you :) Staff: Very nice and friendly all around in the hotel. Some of them were clearly more friendly to german guests, but that´s how it is. The level of english was not perfect, but we could communicate with reception but also with waiters without problems. However, german was widely spoken by everybody. The cleaner of our room was very nice lade, she did her job very well :) Guests: Many Germans and Turkish, then some Scandinavians, Czech, Slovak, French, Dutch. Mostly families, couples. The hotel is not perfect for young couples looking for night-life I would say (there is no disco in the hotel). The guests were mostly nice behaving, not loud, not drunk :) Conclusion: Even though the hotel has only 4*, it is really a great 4*. Compared to last year 5* hotel, IZ flower was much better in many aspects. The beach and location is excellent, hotel itself is beautiful, food was delightful, staff very nice and friendly (with some exceptions). We chose it based on the good reviews, and some gut feeling we had that it would be great vacation...and it really was. I recommend it definitely, and would love to come back once.…
