hello, the hotel is simply wonderful, we have been enjoying it more and more every day since the day we arrived. Apart from that , it is a very affordable hotel in terms of price , we would like to thank all of our friends working in the hotel deparartman . Seriously nice people. Thank you to the animation team, they really helped us watch legendary shows.

We are a Young couple and we were really looking forward for our holidays at the kumul hotel. BUT here is our story : After 4 days, the reception called us at 08:00 in the morning. They told us to come at the reception.(all in an apporximate german) At the reception they accused us to break the toilet seat. (that was absolutely not the case). They told us that the cleaning women had found it broken. So they said that it was our fault and that it couldn't be the cleaning women who could broke it THE RESULT : WE WERE CHARGED EUR 250.00 TO PAY IMMEDIATELY !!!! and what was more strange, was the fact that one day after that, it was the room next ours, whose toilet seat was changed by the hotel..... We were disugusting to be treated like criminals. The manager is a really nasty men, bad-tempered. (of course he is lovely with older people). and a a few other things : - it's not a real all inclusive hotel (if you want martini, wine, ice cream you sould pay for it) - the WC on the beach are always dirty - you should keep the same towel for 7 days - it's always the same kind of food and there is dill in every dishes - only one person (who is very kind) speak English At Side there are a lot of wonderful 5* hôtels, so please try another one !

Great rooms, food, pool, beach, staff, squash court, pool tables, gym (with trainer). it has everything, even wifi at the huge outdoor swimming pool! If you are looking for somewhere "central" with a village/town, shops etc, it's not for you, but, you really don't need it here. It has everything. Majority of the guests are German/Austrian/Swiss, but don't let that put you off, most of the staff can speak English. Don't miss it....

No body can't speak English there. Even Reception Staff. Just Engin ( from front office team) speak English. Another staff speak speak just German. It's shame. international language is English not German. English people avoid there. Service is bad. Room cleaning bad. Haven't some animation staff. They have just in a one week 3 times shows. For young people it's really disgusting. But I have to say rooms are really very good and very comfortable.

We have visited this hotel one year ago. They have a very large swimming pool, excellent . The rooms are big, but for me not cosy. The food was good, for orange juice, you have to pay, 3 euro"s. They changed the towels twice a week ! No music at the swimmingpool.

Overall it was fantastic, i would go there but some details could really improve like the boring buffet food that never changed, and some of the personell should be better trained like the beach bar guy who fought with the coffee machine for 15 minutes. The service and food are 'ok' but not 5 star in all cases, the transport with golf cart to the beach was always good ad was the guy who mainatins the beach, the restaurant staff was good enough but not outstanding

The review by "dergiss" of Frankfurt (16 June 2009) says everything about the excellent physical structure of the hotel, so I will not repeat, except to say that the hotel he mentioned being built next door (the Roma) is now completed, and is so noisy that travellers should be sure to avoid that side of the Kumul hotel! The Kumul was a tantalising hotel: excellent rooms, good location, excellent beach, (mostly) fine staff. It could have reached true 5-star status with relatively few changes. But it failed: (1) the rooms were very sloppily cleaned, at odd hours (sometimes not before 5pm, and once not at all ...); (2) personal toiletries and the tray of cheap and nasty hotel-supplied toiletries (not worthy of a 2-star) were pushed askew and left scattered about; (3) the towels were thin and poorly absorbent (this in Turkey where textiles is a major industry!) as was the bathmat (which was never replaced nor put back in place) and the (equally thin) bathrobes were cut only for the distaff side; (4) although tea bags were supplied at the outset, they were never renewed; (5) staff were very friendly, but not very effective (apart from one mentioned below) and evidenced a lack of managerial supervision and training: certainly well below 5-star standard. A small example: obtaining freshly-squeezed orange juice at breakfast (even at an exorbitant extra charge) was a major battle, and not successful each day; (6) the food was monotonously routine and of very average quality, and the main restaurant (half board) was frankly of 3.5-star cafeteria style - nothing like the hushed quality to be expected of a 5-star (although certain waiters were attentive) But there were some real positives. The grounds were very lush and exceptionally well-maintained and the beach service was truly exceptional. An electric cart ferried guests to and from the 400m-distant beach and although I preferred to walk, the drivers consistently asked if I would like to ride, even when passing me on the trail. And once at the beach, one was fussed over by the chap who maintained it in pristine condition, raking it morning, afternoon and night to keep it level and clear away sea-weed, and tracing intricate water paths in the sand so that guests could reach the water from their widely-spaced sun-loungers without burning their feet (the temperature was over 40 every day whilst I was there). An excellent bar was also set up at the beach, with attentive and polite service. I am not much of a beach person, but this time, I really enjoyed it. I did not visit the spa, but it was fully booked, which suggests it appealed to those who used it. The fitness centre was superb, certainly the best I have seen in 30 years of travelling. Finally, I should mention that the reception staff bent over backwards to help me with a failing internet connection, to the point of bringing in an outside IT consultant who spent an hour with me to fix it. In summary, the Kumul is a very good hotel which could become truly excellent with better attention to detail.

Location: ======== The hotel is located outside of Side, it is actually the first hotel coming from the airport in Antalya. Transfer time from the airport is approximately 45 minutes, Side takes approximately 20 minutes and a taxi costs 20 Euro. The surrounding area is not very nice as it is vast land, some dunes to the beach and the closest houses of local residents is approximately 1.5km away. Currently, a new house/hotel is built just next to the hotel, so you hear some construction noise when at the pool area. However, it is not that much to destroy the relaxing atmosphere. Next "shopping" possibilities are some very tiny supermarkets where you can buy some soft drinks and sweets. When we were there, some sweets already passed there best until date, so please beware before boing. Hotel: ========= The hotel was opened in early summer 2008, so everything is brandnew. However, you are already seeing some signs of usage at some places. While we were there, the hotel staff was busy painting houses, balconies etc. The hotel has a large indoor pool and a very large outdoor sweetwater pool. There are approximately 20-30 sunloungers at the pool and two loungers sharing a parasol. Please be cautious as some parasols tend to fall when there is some wind. Additional facilities: Small mini market where you can buy Turkish and German newspapers and magazines and also one English newspaper from Turkey. The mini market also offers sweets, suncream and some other items (e.g. toothbrush, toothpaste, cigarettes etc.). It does not offer any drinks ! Those must be purchased from one of the bars at rediculous prices for water (0.5 litre 2 Euro, 1.5 liter 4 Euro). There is also a doctor at the hotel, which is there two times a day for approximately 30 minutes, except for Sunday. During the rest of the day, a nurse is present, which can call the doctor when needed. However, we heard from other guests that the doctor is trying to send every patient to the private hospital he is working for. Additional shops are a hairdresser (appointments must be made at the reception), a spa and a carpet dealer. All of them are rarely used. The gym is open everyday from 8 to 8 and a personal trainer is there, which is free of charge. The gym is the best I have ever seen in a hotel, it is really as good as one of the large fitness chains. Rooms: ======= The hotel has approximately 150 rooms. The standard rooms are approximately 60sqm and the balcony approximately 20sqm. Rooms are equiped with a huge shower (about 5-6sqm) and an open space bathroom and a walkin-closet (including make-up facility). It also has a 40 inch LCD TV with 8 Turkish channels, approximately 15 German channels. The only English speaking channel is CNN, however, there is the Turkish version of CNBC, which also broadcasts TV series at night in English and Turkish subtitles. The prices for the minibar are exactly the same prices as in the restaurants. A can of soft drinks costs 3 Euro. The hotel provides two half litre bottles of water per day, however, if not used, there are not replaced. So use them everyday. Restaurants: ========== The hotel offers half-board, which is not typical for Turkey where all-inclusive is more common. For breakfast, some hot dishes, which change daily, are offered. In addition, boiled eggs, omelettes, fried eggs. They also make pancakes, crepes and some turkish dishes. The rest is common things for breakfast as cereals, some sweets, selection of bread, croissants, sausages, cheese etc. As drinks, a cheap orange/apple juice is offered and black/green tea and coffee. We were a bit disappointed that no fresh orange juices were offered for breakfast and that there is only filter coffee and no espresso, cappucino etc, but all can be ordered. However, it must be noted that cappucino contains filter coffee and not espresso. In addition, water must be purchased for breakfast, which is is something a two star hotel in Germany has for breakfast as a standard. So the choice for drinks for breakfast is low. The selection for dinner changes also daily, but the buffet for starters and dessert become monotone after some days. The kitchen is also offering freshly made bread and pides. The kitchen chef is also running around the restaurant every day and asks the guests about the food and fulfills every extra wish of the guests. It was a really great service from the kitchen. The kitchen staff speaks only some German and nearly no English. Service: ====== The general level of service is great. Especially the service at the beach must be mentioned. The beach is approximately 300-400 metres away and it can either be walked or the hotel offers a shuttle service. Every guest is asked whether the small car shall be called if not currently available. However, walking takes only little time, so we mostly walked. Service in the restaurant is sometimes not so good as guests are ignored. But his was the only downside. Overall, we can totally recommened the hotel.
