Cons…
The check in process was poor, we waited over half an hour to be shown to our room, we arrived after midnight so we were very tired after travelling for 6 hours. We were then pressured into giving a tip to the staff member who eventually took us to our room after explaining we don’t understand Turkish lira yet, he stood in silence until my partner asked ‘are you waiting for a tip?’ And he replied ‘obviously, I have done you a favour, giving you a double room’ which he had not as we booked a double room.
The beds are incredibly uncomfortable, they are very hard. It has given me back/ neck pain for the entire stay!!!!!!!!
Tying to sleep at night through the constant beeping from the lifts at night is impossible. We can also hear everything our neighbours are doing and saying as the walls are so thin. We have also heard furniture being moved around all night.
I do not appreciate having a phone call at 8:30am in the morning (after we arrived early hours of the morning) reminding us that we have an ‘important meeting’ at 10:30am. We did not need to be reminded by a phone call so early, we had set our own alarm. It was NOT important at all, they simply want to sell you trips that you can get cheaper if you plan on ‘get your guide’ for example, we paid £40 for a Jeep Safari that you can get for less than £20 online. This ‘important meeting’ should be optional.
The rooms have recently been renovated. However, the walls are patchy, the shower leaks so the entire floor is wet and the AC is old and loud so you can not sleep with it on at night.
We had staff enter our room with a room key at 8am without knocking and ignoring the ‘do not disturb’ sign, we were still sleeping.
We found staff to be quite rude and unhelpful when needing assistance, it took 3 members of staff to point me in the direct of the bowls at breakfast time.
Pros…
The entertainment staff are amazing, chatty, polite, get you revolved. The entertainment on stage was brilliant, we really enjoyed the dancers.
The cleaners are quick, respectful, provide two bottles of water daily. They are also polite and help when they can.
There are plenty of options at lunch and dinner and there are great variety. I won’t mention the Que for the ice cream 🫣
The beach hut is really good, you can still get your all inclusive drinks 9:00-17:00 and snacks between 12:00-14:00. It is about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel which I don’t think is too bad.
The swimming pools were great, certain rules were followed, (in my opinion the disadvantage was that the slide was not open all the time, my daughter used it only once because we were at the seaside when it was open, and it's a pity that you can't use the pool in the evening) To the sea quite far (not like the lady in the travel agency assured that it only looks like that on the map))))) no, it takes over 10 minutes to walk exactly as shown on the map, you get tired along the way, saying no to the people selling at the stalls. We went to the beach every day, of course there is a hotel bar that you can use. When it comes to the room, you get a different room than in the photos (but this should be taken care of by the travel agency). The agency should show the specific room you are paying for. In our case, the room was on the 1st floor, spacious with a balcony, but the view was hopeless, with a stall overlooking the street and the top of a mountain emerging in the distance. my daughter's bed was sunken, ours was also torn, and there was one narrow, stiff, rough rag, as my husband said, to cover it, where everyone should have had a separate bedspread, the beds directly under the air conditioning, which of course resulted in a sore throat and earache. Cleaners took care of the rooms, whenever you wish (you press a special button) and the room is cleaned, water and paper are provided at that time. We arrived at 6:30, we got the room at 12:30, they registered us immediately after arrival, gave us wristbands, so we had breakfast, dinner and other things, even though our hotel day had not started, we could use it. The service was great, especially Selcuk, whom we greet, deserves praise and a raise :)
For us it is a new experience, a holiday among a large number of people, we usually choose quiet, intimate places, but thanks to good internal organization and really good food and evening attractions, we could feel the holiday atmosphere. A. We used the gym, it would be good to invest a little, install air conditioning there and buy some equipment. It is surprising that out of 300 people, only a few exercise during the holidays! People, get moving, you can also exercise while on vacation, I recommend it, your satisfaction will increase if you take care of your body, then you won't complain about things that are unimportant, because every round of something nice served in the evening is normal and you get what you want very quickly. he's standing, too :) a healthy mind in a healthy body. This is a comment from me and I think from other non-smokers. It really bothered me that people were smoking outside without looking at others. I think there should be separate places for this. And preferably closed, so that smokers can inhale their own stench and not spread it to others. Especially since there were children around and SMOKING in the smoking room. This is my postulate. Greetings and happy holidays to those who choose Blue Star
The general state of the corridors - quite poor, a lot of scratches, some light damages and not very welcoming - the age of the hotel was visible by it.
The room itself was alright besides the air conditioning - it did not work in the bedroom, the service was twice and “fixed” but still only the fan worked.
The restaurant was nice, the food was quite various and looked fresh, but be careful for the silverware and tablecloths - the service used them to wiped out the tables and put them back; silverware was on the tables all the time - day and night so it’s better to get the fresh ones.
The only things that was the most arrogant thing was the state of cleaning of the corridors, the plates and left food by guests on the stairs was not cleaned by the cleaners for 4 days at least. When reporting to the front desk and promises about cleaning it, they only did it after the next 2 days, so it took them to clean the stairs for 6 days… If only it could be done everyday…
The room cleaner, Buket very nice and did a very good job.
The entertainment team was very focused on Russian guests - they tried to talk Russian to everyone.
The spa / hair saloon zone: please use your common sense when making a leaflet for your polish customers - such a huge linguistic errors in your advertisement made me laugh very hard, in a bad way.
All together: all of the minor things matter and I if I could choose once again a hotel in Alanya, I am not sure if I would stay there; the price was quite fair for the days and location but not for the hotel.
The staff are rude and have no respect for anyone, we had £40 go missing from a bag and no further action was taken.
The lifeguard may as-well not have been there as three children nearly drowned within the same day as all he focused on was his phone and flirting with young girls. I went into the shop and asked for something - I got a dirty looks and shrugged his shoulders.
I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy, I have no idea how on earth it has received 4* , it seriously needs shutting down.
Will not be coming again.
The food was incredible with lots of options every night although the restaurant was always super busy but we just made sure to go for dinner at 7pm every night.
The service to the beach is great but you can honestly walk it really easily.
There is also a bus that takes you to the main town as well but no transport back however it is possible to walk.
Beds are hard as rock I had issues with my hip the whole holiday because the beds are so bad I rang reception for some pillows and had a guy lingering for a tip again. Shop inside the hotel was closed the entire duration.. I don’t think the salon was good either and quite expensive for the services in the end I walked out as they tried to barter with me over acrylic nails 🤣 (didn’t even want acrylics just polish but they insisted) so I didn’t use their service. The spa and Turkish bath however is GREAT I went twice 😍 gym looked decent too.
If you’re English I wouldn’t bother going here the Russians and polish will only look down their nose at you 🤣 cringeworthy towards the end of the holiday I started to get sick and tired of the nasty looks & laughs from the Russian and polish women.
Breakfast is okay I mainly just ate eggs. Lunch is usually lovely and dinner is okay too I like the show cooking. However.. we booked the al a carte thinking it was going to be good but it was literally the same food they serve at buffet and show cooking but just plated up for you in less portions 🤣.. all inclusive drinks are not great not a single rum on the board just vodka raki beer and gin and red and white wine cocktails are expensive too.
Entertainment was quite good. Some of the bartenders are very sleazy and pests especially that one older guy who is on cocktails.. leave women alone please especially when they’ve told you they’re taken.
All in all I wouldn’t rate this a 4 star at all and I wouldn’t come here again if you are English steer clear
