The Blue Star Hotel garners mixed reviews, with numerous guests lauding its cleanliness, spacious rooms, and the welcoming atmosphere fostered by friendly staff. However, some visitors highlight inconsistencies, citing grotty rooms and occasional air conditioning problems. While the hotel's amenities, including pools and dining options, receive praise, others point out safety concerns and overpricing issues. The location's appeal varies, seen by some as ideal for beach and city outings, yet not all find it convenient. Overall, experiences at Blue Star Hotel seem to range from delightful to disappointing.

I feel embarrassed I have so much bad to say v the good. I have never left a review about anywhere I have stayed before.

Cons…

The check in process was poor, we waited over half an hour to be shown to our room, we arrived after midnight so we were very tired after travelling for 6 hours. We were then pressured into giving a tip to the staff member who eventually took us to our room after explaining we don’t understand Turkish lira yet, he stood in silence until my partner asked ‘are you waiting for a tip?’ And he replied ‘obviously, I have done you a favour, giving you a double room’ which he had not as we booked a double room.

The beds are incredibly uncomfortable, they are very hard. It has given me back/ neck pain for the entire stay!!!!!!!!

Tying to sleep at night through the constant beeping from the lifts at night is impossible. We can also hear everything our neighbours are doing and saying as the walls are so thin. We have also heard furniture being moved around all night.

I do not appreciate having a phone call at 8:30am in the morning (after we arrived early hours of the morning) reminding us that we have an ‘important meeting’ at 10:30am. We did not need to be reminded by a phone call so early, we had set our own alarm. It was NOT important at all, they simply want to sell you trips that you can get cheaper if you plan on ‘get your guide’ for example, we paid £40 for a Jeep Safari that you can get for less than £20 online. This ‘important meeting’ should be optional.

The rooms have recently been renovated. However, the walls are patchy, the shower leaks so the entire floor is wet and the AC is old and loud so you can not sleep with it on at night.

We had staff enter our room with a room key at 8am without knocking and ignoring the ‘do not disturb’ sign, we were still sleeping.

We found staff to be quite rude and unhelpful when needing assistance, it took 3 members of staff to point me in the direct of the bowls at breakfast time.

Pros…

The entertainment staff are amazing, chatty, polite, get you revolved. The entertainment on stage was brilliant, we really enjoyed the dancers.

The cleaners are quick, respectful, provide two bottles of water daily. They are also polite and help when they can.

There are plenty of options at lunch and dinner and there are great variety. I won’t mention the Que for the ice cream 🫣

The beach hut is really good, you can still get your all inclusive drinks 9:00-17:00 and snacks between 12:00-14:00. It is about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel which I don’t think is too bad.

Good afternoon , I am writing a review , based only on my vacation , since how many people, so many and opinions ! We rested in June-July 2024! There are 2 buildings, one in the new, main building, where everyone checks in, and the other building, where the restaurant! Placed in a thieving enclosure , in a family room , I will immediately tell the caretakers (like soap , shower gel , shampoo , hair balm , can not wait , it is not) ! Removed every day , if you display on the sensor , near the door of the room , bed, pillowcases , changed once in 10 days ))), towels mainly for feet are changed constantly , for the body rarely , until thrown on the floor ! The building where the restaurant, normal, since there was carried out emphasize , cosmetic repair in April ! The rooms are neat , spacious , but when checked in , the air conditioning practically did not work (blow , but not cold ), it came twice repaired , the refrigerator did not work well too , but made , when checking in recommend everything check , especially the condey ! But then there's the minus the big smell from the sewers, it's just tin, you come into the room like someone's pumped (so smelly) . Regarding the staff, speak poorly in Russian (only speaks girl slightly and boyfriend manager chubby dark) , the rest are all in English! The audience at the hotel is mostly Poles 90%, the rest Russians, Germans, English, Turks, Ukrainians! To the beach walk 10-15 minutes , there is a transfer timetable at the reception , but never went , beach number 5 , food (fries , burger , beer pouring , drinks - all this is free !But the sunbeds themselves cost 1 umbrella , 2 sunbeds , 210 lire (6 euros)! The hotel has a swimming pool, but at 6-7am, everyone runs with a towel and takes their seats, watch spectacularly! To the center , where shops , markets , get a minute 40 on your own , by taxi 10 min - 5 euros ! Next I will talk about hotel food, yes it eats, but there is everything, and everything is fresh and quality ) ! Lots of meat, fish, mussels, shrimp gave! From fruit : watermelon , melon, nectarines , peaches , cherries , apples ! The pastries are delicious, you can lick your fingers! In short, there are no complaints about food! In animation, everybody's cool entertaining guests, kids! By hamam , massage , I recommend to contact the girl Elena (light, short haired) Russian walks in the main building ,offers spa services! I'll tell you straight away the hotel for 4 stars, the hotel is clean, well maintained, friendly! Of course she is!

I am satisfied with my stay in this hotel. Mainly the food, which was varied, fresh, warm, there were cakes, desserts, ice cream, alcohol, and fresh, crunchy vegetables. The chefs made sure that everything was replenished on a regular basis, even sometimes drastic rushing the poor staff who really did everything they could. I was afraid to look at the chefs standing at attention ;)
The swimming pools were great, certain rules were followed, (in my opinion the disadvantage was that the slide was not open all the time, my daughter used it only once because we were at the seaside when it was open, and it's a pity that you can't use the pool in the evening) To the sea quite far (not like the lady in the travel agency assured that it only looks like that on the map))))) no, it takes over 10 minutes to walk exactly as shown on the map, you get tired along the way, saying no to the people selling at the stalls. We went to the beach every day, of course there is a hotel bar that you can use. When it comes to the room, you get a different room than in the photos (but this should be taken care of by the travel agency). The agency should show the specific room you are paying for. In our case, the room was on the 1st floor, spacious with a balcony, but the view was hopeless, with a stall overlooking the street and the top of a mountain emerging in the distance. my daughter's bed was sunken, ours was also torn, and there was one narrow, stiff, rough rag, as my husband said, to cover it, where everyone should have had a separate bedspread, the beds directly under the air conditioning, which of course resulted in a sore throat and earache. Cleaners took care of the rooms, whenever you wish (you press a special button) and the room is cleaned, water and paper are provided at that time. We arrived at 6:30, we got the room at 12:30, they registered us immediately after arrival, gave us wristbands, so we had breakfast, dinner and other things, even though our hotel day had not started, we could use it. The service was great, especially Selcuk, whom we greet, deserves praise and a raise :)
For us it is a new experience, a holiday among a large number of people, we usually choose quiet, intimate places, but thanks to good internal organization and really good food and evening attractions, we could feel the holiday atmosphere. A. We used the gym, it would be good to invest a little, install air conditioning there and buy some equipment. It is surprising that out of 300 people, only a few exercise during the holidays! People, get moving, you can also exercise while on vacation, I recommend it, your satisfaction will increase if you take care of your body, then you won't complain about things that are unimportant, because every round of something nice served in the evening is normal and you get what you want very quickly. he's standing, too :) a healthy mind in a healthy body. This is a comment from me and I think from other non-smokers. It really bothered me that people were smoking outside without looking at others. I think there should be separate places for this. And preferably closed, so that smokers can inhale their own stench and not spread it to others. Especially since there were children around and SMOKING in the smoking room. This is my postulate. Greetings and happy holidays to those who choose Blue Star

First things first: front desk - very nice and we’ve felt welcomed. They offered us a family room instead of two double rooms - they even had a form to write that we agree to change the rooms (I guess because of previous experience with complaint about changing the room without the confirmation).
The general state of the corridors - quite poor, a lot of scratches, some light damages and not very welcoming - the age of the hotel was visible by it.
The room itself was alright besides the air conditioning - it did not work in the bedroom, the service was twice and “fixed” but still only the fan worked.
The restaurant was nice, the food was quite various and looked fresh, but be careful for the silverware and tablecloths - the service used them to wiped out the tables and put them back; silverware was on the tables all the time - day and night so it’s better to get the fresh ones.
The only things that was the most arrogant thing was the state of cleaning of the corridors, the plates and left food by guests on the stairs was not cleaned by the cleaners for 4 days at least. When reporting to the front desk and promises about cleaning it, they only did it after the next 2 days, so it took them to clean the stairs for 6 days… If only it could be done everyday…
The room cleaner, Buket very nice and did a very good job.
The entertainment team was very focused on Russian guests - they tried to talk Russian to everyone.
The spa / hair saloon zone: please use your common sense when making a leaflet for your polish customers - such a huge linguistic errors in your advertisement made me laugh very hard, in a bad way.

All together: all of the minor things matter and I if I could choose once again a hotel in Alanya, I am not sure if I would stay there; the price was quite fair for the days and location but not for the hotel.

I visited this hotel for the third time this year. I absolutely fell in love with it. The hotel room is completely adequate and satisfying. Fridge, air conditioning, perfect view (I recommend paying extra for a room in the main building)... They refill your room with water every day and the maids are very handy and always conjure up some surprise on your bed, for example a swan from a blanket :) The receptionists were always willing to help us with everything. There is a lot of cats around the hotel, which is a nice diversion. The beach is only a 10-minute walk away, if you don't feel like walking, just get on the hotel bus that will take you directly to the beach. The all-inclusive meal was always excellent, weiters in the restaurant were always nice and prompt with cleaning. The hotel is usually fully occupied, so the only drawback in the hotel restaurant is the long queues for food, but it is nothing that cannot be survived. Genius animators will provide entertainment from morning to night! Love them. Overall, I rate this hotel as absolutely amazing and I hope I will return next year. My friend and I are so excited about this place that we decided to spend the whole summer in Alanya as animators, so we thank the hotel for the inspiration! Best place where to spend vacation.

I stayed here with my family it was one of the best hotel experiences in my life and I have been to a lot of hotels. Each and every staff member here are so kind and supportive. They don’t treat you like customers they treat you as more than that they get to know you they talk to you. I would also like to mention Medusa one of the entertainers at blue star she was sooo nice to our family and had such a nice personality, and to all of the lads working in the bar who were sooo Funny and very helpful. Every single night there is entertainment and stuff for all ages to do there are sometimes dancers, cool stunts new stuff every night, the DG was the best great music every day. The pool was amazing we enjoyed the slides and pool activities. The food was really good. I also want to say a big thank you to all the entertainers they work so hard every single day always there to help and to make us laugh thank you for makin us feel welcome. Esma was also helpful for me and my family and just such a nice person, the chef was really good absolutely amazing food. I can’t recommend this hotel enough the only fault that i have with this hotel is the rooms I mean they are decent rooms just need a little modern touch other than that everything on this hotel is five star 🤩🤩. If you are going to turkey you need to stay at blue star such an amazing hotel 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Turned up two hours late to the hotel after a delay to our rooms not being ready. After waiting 45 minutes we was taken to our room where the staff brought our bags up and proceeded to wait in the room and wait for a tip which made us both extremely uncomfortable. The toilet roll holder fell off the wall as soon as I touched it, the floor was wet and the aircon did not work. We asked for it fixing but was ignored. The food is disgusting there is nothing for English what so ever. We paid for all inclusive and have spent more time eating out than in the hotel, drinks are also extremely expensive if you do not want to drink beer or vodka. The entertainment seems like they pulled random people from the streets to perform. There is a million stray cats, one was even dying on the street outside and was left.
The staff are rude and have no respect for anyone, we had £40 go missing from a bag and no further action was taken.
The lifeguard may as-well not have been there as three children nearly drowned within the same day as all he focused on was his phone and flirting with young girls. I went into the shop and asked for something - I got a dirty looks and shrugged his shoulders.
I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy, I have no idea how on earth it has received 4* , it seriously needs shutting down.
Will not be coming again.

I don't know how it is possible that there so many good reviews. This hotel is terrible. They are lying to customers. Selling you new rooms, but when you arrive, you are led to the old room. Which is renovated i dont know when, like 20 years ago. And when I asked to change my room, their response was "we have only few rooms which are renovated, this is not our problem". Screw you. Moreover, if you want to get a sunbed, be ready to wake up at 6am and put a towel on a sunbed. Because otherwise, you won't get it. Total nonsense. And I saw many people who were angry because of room, they were keep on coming to reception but always left with the same response - come tomorrow. It took me 5 days to get the room i paid for! That's half of my holiday, which was totally ruined. Food was boring, crowds everywhere. This hotel is just too small for this amount of people. Get yourself another hotel, because this one is not worth your money

Such a lovely place! When we first arrived we were not 100% satisfied with the room we got but this was quickly rectified by the wonderful reception staff. The animation team go above and beyond to get to know you and include you in the activities, especially Jan who continually went above and beyond for us. The bar staff were so friendly and attentive and often learned our preferred drink choices and were pouring them before we even asked! There was always fun drinking activities and a great atmosphere in the bar area in the evenings. Burak and Rasit created an awesome atmosphere with drinks and sparklers and often encouraged everyone to join in! They were amazing and truly made our holiday so much better!
The food was incredible with lots of options every night although the restaurant was always super busy but we just made sure to go for dinner at 7pm every night.
The service to the beach is great but you can honestly walk it really easily.
There is also a bus that takes you to the main town as well but no transport back however it is possible to walk.

We arrived at around 3am staff had us waiting for ages to get our rooms, My friends with their 3 tired children who had booked separately were made to pay a £200 deposit on a family room they had already booked and paid for because of their pc system error and were reluctant to give a receipt! My booking was fairly straightforward however upon getting my room I had a bellboy who was sniffing around for a tip as soon as he showed me the room.. irritating. After a long day of travelling I could have honestly burst into tears with the state of the room they gave me! I mean not only did it look like it was straight out of the 70s with the awful interior but it was in terrible condition and grimey. It just wasn’t what I paid for in no way looks like a 4 star it’s a two star and that being generous I’ll insert pictures.. I didn’t even take a shower there I was that disgusted. Went back down to reception to ask for another room, not only were the night staff just rude they were quite clearly gossiping and slating us in Turkish. Told me to come back tomorrow. Went down to reception in the morning with my suitcases and the reception man was so helpful gave me the choice of two new rooms immediately then (another bellboy again sniffing for a tip) the newish rooms were the same decor but atleast they were clean and the balcony didn’t have a massive bush outside of it. Felt like my holiday had just started out so miserable I barely got any sleep first night because the room was that grotty so I wasted my second day just sleeping.
Beds are hard as rock I had issues with my hip the whole holiday because the beds are so bad I rang reception for some pillows and had a guy lingering for a tip again. Shop inside the hotel was closed the entire duration.. I don’t think the salon was good either and quite expensive for the services in the end I walked out as they tried to barter with me over acrylic nails 🤣 (didn’t even want acrylics just polish but they insisted) so I didn’t use their service. The spa and Turkish bath however is GREAT I went twice 😍 gym looked decent too.
If you’re English I wouldn’t bother going here the Russians and polish will only look down their nose at you 🤣 cringeworthy towards the end of the holiday I started to get sick and tired of the nasty looks & laughs from the Russian and polish women.
Breakfast is okay I mainly just ate eggs. Lunch is usually lovely and dinner is okay too I like the show cooking. However.. we booked the al a carte thinking it was going to be good but it was literally the same food they serve at buffet and show cooking but just plated up for you in less portions 🤣.. all inclusive drinks are not great not a single rum on the board just vodka raki beer and gin and red and white wine cocktails are expensive too.
Entertainment was quite good. Some of the bartenders are very sleazy and pests especially that one older guy who is on cocktails.. leave women alone please especially when they’ve told you they’re taken.
All in all I wouldn’t rate this a 4 star at all and I wouldn’t come here again if you are English steer clear
